Danitrio Hyotan Shu-dame
The curvaceous Hyotan is a full-size pen utilizing a convenient cartridge-converter system. Dark red Shu-dame Tame-nuri provides a lustrous surface for the curvaceous Danitrio Hyotan. Many Hyotan owners find that the undulating shape of this pen makes it the most comfortable in the hand of any writing instrument they have ever used.
In Tame-Nuri technique, semi-transparent amber-colored urushi is painted over a base color. As the natural urushi matures, the outer layer becomes more transparent and the underlying color shows through more brightly.
As with most Danitrio pens, the artist has signed the pen in kanji script. The red mark below is a traditional craft signature used by skilled artisans.
Hyotan collection pens are furnished with the 18k Danitrio #6 nib, available in Soft and Standard tipping sizes.
Unless requested otherwise, each pen you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics.
