Nakaya Naka-ai Writer Milky Way

The Nakaya Naka-ai Writer Milky Way with Raden fountain pen utilizes hand-placed abalone shell over a Black Urushi finish to evoke a celestial motif. With its peaked ends and tapered body, the Naka-ai Writer model beautifully complements the spiraling pattern of this design.

The Naka-ai combines many of Nakaya’s most distinctive design features in a single model. At 5.9" inches long when capped, this is a pen that will be a very comfortable fit for most pen users.

Utilizing bits of colorful raden, the artist creates a rendering of the mliky way swirl. Set against a rich black backdrop the pattern is simultaneously subdued and striking.

Like all Nakaya Urushi pens, the Naka-ai Cigar Raden Milky Way is made of hand-turned ebonite hard rubber, then sent to the Wajima region in western Japan for finishing with Urushi lacquer. The Nakaya Naka-ai Writer Milky Way with Raden can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter. Nakaya pens can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.

These 14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex - see our nib customizations page for more information.
