Inspired by references to the four seasons in poems and stories in the Pillow Book or Makura no Sōshi collection written by lady of the court Sei Shōnagon in Heian Japan in the early 1000's, the Midnight Sky features an evocative design of dark blue over rhodium trim meant to evoke the cloudless moonlit nights of summer.

Our complimentary nib tuning adjusts optimum pressure and ink flow to your personal writing characteristics, and our optional nib customizations can add to the character of your writing on the page - we think Sei Shōnagon herself might have particularly enjoyed our Architects Point modification, which provides for narrow down-strokes and broader cross-strokes and is very well-suited to journaling and calligraphy.

The Midnight Sky can fill with any bottled fountain pen ink when fitted with the provided converter, and can also use convenient Sailor brand disposable ink cartridges. A special presentation box includes the converter and a starter pack of two cartridges.
