A very special work of Maki-e art by noted artist Ikki Moroike, the King of Pen Sekigahara Limited Edition is the first of four Samurai Warrior pens that will be released by Sailor. The motif commemorates the historic battle of Sekigahara in October 1600 that led to the establishment of the Tokugawa shogunate, the last feudal shogunate which ended only with the establishment of the Meiji restoration in 1867.

The pen body is hand-turned from natural ebonite hard rubber and is hand-finished in specialized Maki-e technique utilizing a variety of precious materials, including gold and silver powders as well as raden. Each pen is equipped with your choice of 21k solid gold nib and utilizes Sailor's convenient cartridge-converter system - the pen can fill with any bottled fountain pen ink when fitted with the provided converter, and can also use Sailor brand disposable ink cartridges. A presentation box with complementary motif is included.

More than just a beautiful work of Maki-e art in its own right, the Sekigahara can also be a superb everyday writing instrument. Our complimentary nib tuning adjusts pressure and ink flow to your personal preferences, and our optional nib customizations can add to the character and distinctiveness of your writing on the page. If you are a collector who would prefer us to leave the pen untuned and uncustomized, just indicate this in your notes during check-out.
