Combining urushi lacquer finish with the popular 1911 Full-Size body, the pens in the Rei Urushi-nuri series will be a favorite for many pen aficionados. The Tsugaru-nuri technique used on this specific pen has a history stretching back to the Edo period and was specifically created in part to allow for urushi lacquer to cure in the colder weather of Aomori Prefecture. Each pen is individually hand-finished by the artist, and no two pens will ever be exactly alike.

The pens in the Rei Urushi-nuri series utilize Sailor's convenient cartridge-converter system - the provided converter allows for the use of any bottled fountain pen ink, and the pens can also fill using easy-to-use Sailor brand disposable ink cartridges. Each pen ships in a special paulowina softwood presentation box and also includes a fabric pen pouch.
