The Platinum Izumo Aurora fountain pen utilizes advanced Raden Maki-e techniques to create a memorable writing instrument. The pen is provided with your choice of 18k solid gold nib.
Our complimentary nib tuning ensures that your Maki-e pen will have writing qualities equal to its appearance, and our exclusive nib customizations can add to the character of your writing by increasing line-width variation on the page. We are an authorized Platinum dealer.
Gold powder and raden abalone shell are hand-applied to the surface of this pen, often one raden flake at a time, to create the unique pattern seen here. The master Maki-e artist then smooths and polishes the surface with charcoal in a process known as togi-dashi technique.
The cartridge-converter filling system allows for the use of any bottled fountain pen ink, and Platinum brand disposable ink cartridges can also be used.
