The squirrel, as an animal which stores food for the future, is seen as a symbol of fortune and good luck in traditional Japanese art, while grapes, or budoh, are commonly used as a symbol for the similarly pronounced budoh-doh, or Samurai way. The result is a seemingly whimsical motif which actually contains deep cultural resonance.

Not just an inviting work of Maki-e art, this pen is also an excellent everyday writing instrument. Platinum's convenient cartridge-converter system allows for the use of any bottled fountain pen ink when using the converter, provided by us free of charge with your order. It can also use Platinum brand disposable cartridges.

Our complimentary nib tuning services adjust optimum pressure and ink flow to your personal writing preferences, and our optional nib customizations can add to the distinctiveness and character of your writing on the page. Each pen ships in a special presentation box which includes a starter ink cartridge.
