Pilot's Custom 74 Clear is a classic demonstrator pen. Demonstrators were originally developed to allow salesmen to demonstrate the complex filling systems of early 20th century fountain pens. Modern cartridge-converter pens such as the Custom 74 are as easy to refill as a ballpoint, but the transparent demonstrator has become a style of its own.
The dark grey opaque regions serve to accent the transparent parts of the design. The opaque region on the gripping section also serves to hide or obscure the tiny ink drops that tend to become visible in the gripping sections of demonstrator pens.
The Pilot Custom 74 Clear fountain pen features a solid gold 14k rhodium-plated nib.
These 14k nibs are well-suited to customizations.
The Custom 74 utilizes Pilot's high-capacity CON-70 converter, which allows for filling with any bottled fountain pen ink. Convenient Pilot-Namiki cartridges are also available.
