The story of the Colossus of Rhodes, a 105 foot statue that stood astride the entrance to the harbor of Mandraki on the island of Rhodes, honored the Greek Sun God, Helios. Ships sailed between legs of this monumental sculpture into a safe harbor. The statue was made of iron reinforced marble and cast bronze coated with gold foil.
In keeping with this theme, the bronze cap is coated with gold and the 18K gold nib is given a matte surface which replicates the duller surface of bronze. The nib body is the same as the Pelikan M1000 model so can be exchanged for a standard Pelikan 18K two-tone nib which allows the second to be customized to a range of possible tips.
This Pelikan Colossus of Rhodes pen can be fully tested and tuned to your own writing preferences before shipping. Let us know if you would like a second Pelikan M1000 nib customized to your specs.
