Vintage Sheaffer Tuckaway Black Ballpoint c. 1950
This Sheaffer Tuckaway ballpoint pen features a raised golden bump on the clip, to distinguish it from its fountain pen sibling in the same class. If you owned both, this would make it easy to feel at a touch, inside a darkened pocket or handbag, which pen you had in your hand.
The "Tuckaway" name describes a pocket-sized pen model with a streamlined oblong shape and a shortened clip, designed for unobtrusive carrying. The cap posts securely to make it a full-sized pen in the hand. These pens are beloved by collectors for their unique and appealing design and wide variety of colors and trim.
This particular model was sold in Canada sometime around 1950. It will need a hard-to-find Sheaffer ballpoint refill to write again.
This pre-owned ballpoint pen is in Excellent condition.
