Antique Sheaffer's #5 Self-Filling Black Ebonite Flexible
An incredible antique treasure, in rare condition for its age. This circa 1915 Sheaffer's fountain pen in chased black ebonite (also known as black chased hard rubber, or BCHR) is marked "5" on the barrel and on the nib. The delicate surface patterning was made by scratching into the hard rubber over and over again with an industrial black diamond.
This pen has a truly remarkable antique flexible nib, capable of line variation ranging from a fine .3mm to a 1+mm flexed width. The tip is shaped similarly to a concord nib, and gives a bold, brush-stroke like effect when the pen is used upside-down.
This pre-owned fountain pen is in Excellent condition.
