Original Conklin #50 Crescent Filler Fountain Pen with Semi-flex nib

This is the original large size Conklin 50 in chased hard rubber with a correct #5 fine semi-flexible nib. It is in excellent condition, showing a chevron chasing pattern in the hard rubber barrel and cap and clear imprints with the words, "Conklin Crescent Filler Toledo Ohio. U.S.A." and patent dates ending in 1903. We assume the production date was around 1920. The second imprint on the barrel shows the pen-in-hand logo and the words, "TRADE MARK 50". This one comes with the original spring-loaded Conklin clip. The expressive fine smooth semi-flexible nib is original to this pen. The Conklin name was recently purchased and copies of this original were made in modern materials. This is the original Crescent Filler pen not to be confused with recent copies.

Samuel Clemens, Mark Twain, called this pen, a "curse stopper" as it would not roll off his desk and onto the floor.

This collectible Conklin 50 fountain pen is from the Mottishaw collection.
