A god of longevity, status, and wealth, Juro-jin is a deity with origins as a Taoist god known as the Old Man of the South Pole. He has been a frequent subject of drawings and paintings from the Muromachi period of the 14th century to the present day.
Maki-e artist Seiki Chida, a member of the prestigious and storied Kokkokai Collective who signs his work as Seiki, has created a motif which depicts a smiling Juro-jin holding a cane onto which has been pinned a scroll. Juro-jin is dressed in a traditional peach-patterned kimono, and is accompanied by a deer, both familiar symbols of long life.
Not just a beautiful work of Maki-e art in its own right, the Yukari Juro-jin is also a superb everyday writing instrument which uses Namiki's convenient cartridge-converter filling system - the pen can fill with any bottled fountain pen ink when fitted with the provided converter, and can also use Pilot brand ink cartridges.
Each pen comes in a bespoke wooden presentation box which includes a bottle of Pilot Iroshizuku Juro-jin Limited Edition ink, as well as a box of ink cartridges. The lid of the presentation box features a laser engraving depicting Mt.Fuji and a treasure ship carrying the gods of good fortune.
Our complimentary nib tuning adjusts pressure and ink flow to your personal preferences, and our optional nib customizations can add to the character and distinctiveness of your writing on the page - but if you are a collector who would prefer to leave the pen unadjusted, just indicate this in your notes during check-out. We are an authorized Namiki dealer.
