Pine trees, or matsu, are imbued with more than routine significance in Japanese art. Seen as symbols of rebirth, virtue, and longevity, and often used to mark temple boundaries and in previous eras to decorate the armor of samurai warriors, pine trees have a cultural resonance that can be sensed in the lovingly detailed and painstaking realization of the motif seen here.

Each Namiki Chinkin Collection fountain pen is provided with a traditionally styled wooden presentation box. This is a cartridge-converter pen - it fill can using any bottled fountain pen ink when fitted with the provided reusable converter, and can also use Pilot brand disposable ink cartridges.
