Araishu in Japanese translates from "shu" for red and "arai" for laundry. The meaning of the combined word suggests a red that has been washed to the extent that it is no longer red. It is now an pale red, meaning orange. The acceptance of a quality that comes with time and usage is a hallmark of Japanese language. In this case when we embrace the passage of time and have araishu.

Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen "kimono" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.
