Nakaya Portable Cigar Sumiko Palmet
Sumiko is a technique which involves mixing charcoal powder with Urushi lacquer. It can be used to create a matte finish which is extremely smooth to the touch. It can also be used to create motifs in raised relief, or with a textured surface. Once cured, the Sumiko finish is stable and does not stain.

With its soft matte finish and unique maki-e motif, the Nakaya Portable Cigar Sumi Palmet is an understated stunner.
Hand painted palmets grace the surface of this sleek, slender writing instrument. Palmets have their design origin in palm fronds, with the maki-e artist formalizing and stylizing these shapes. The subtle yet striking palmets add texture while the smooth matte black finish lends a contrasting tactile experience.
Nakaya pens can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter and can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.

Painted onto both rounded end caps, the palmet motif bookends the entire fountain pen.
