Nakaya Portable Cigar Metal Thread Kikyo
If you have always enjoyed Nakaya's ebonite and urushi fountain pens, but would prefer a writing instrument with a bit more heft than these provide, the new Metal Thread in Kikyo may be the pen for you.
Dark blue Kikyo is one of the most popular solid color finishes for Nakaya pens. This solid blue color pen is inspired by the Chinese Bellflower and the smooth shape of the Cigar style really shows off this rich hue. Each Nakaya pen is made of hand-turned ebonite hard rubber in Nakaya's Tokyo workshop, and the urushi lacquer finishing is accomplished by skilled artists in the Wajima region of western Japan. As urushi lacquer is a natural substance, some variance in color is to be expected - no two pens will ever be exactly alike.
Note the metal threading at the front of the barrel - this, and the $100 reduction in the price, is the only difference between these Metal Thread pens and the traditional all-ebonite versions of these pens.
