The Piccolo is the one of the shortest of the Nakaya urushi pens. The name Piccolo comes from the smallest of the woodwind instruments.

This is made using the Tame-Sukashi technique which reveals the handpainted elephant design in Red and gold urushi.  This motif is then over-painted with dark semi-transparent urushi lacquer.  As time goes on the elephants will be come more prominent

It is just big enough to fit easily in a large hand without posting the cap. (The cap does fit on the back of the barrel, though we do not recommend posting.)

The Nakaya nib, imprinted Nakata, the family name of the manufacturer is made of solid 14K gold. Each of these nibs is suitable for our customization to extra flexible. The larger tips can be customized by us into architect's, cursive italic, stub or oblique points.
The heavy decorative rice paper, simple solid softwood shipping box and fabric pouch make a lovely presentation for Nakaya urushi pens. Sensible and elegant packaging have been a hallmark of Nakaya.
