Over time the green will become more vibrant as the Urushi lacquer matures. Just as the seasons change, so will the coloring of this dynamic fountain pen.

The tradition of Urushi lacquer coating is historic and profound in Japan, where it has been used to adorn even the most utilitarian of objects. The painstaking technique, applied here to a remarkable writing instrument, gives this fountain pen its deep lustrous sheen and remarkable color. A green under-layer radiates from the barrel threads and cap end.
Nakaya pens can be filled with bottled ink using the provided converter, and can also use Platinum brand cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.
The Piccolo Cigar in Heki-tamenuri is provided standard with solid gold 14k single-tone nib in your choice of tipping size.

These 14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex.

Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.
Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
