Nakaya achieves its modern matte black finish by applying a thin layer of clear urushi lacquer over ebonite hard rubber. This creates a soft, subdued surface, adding a unique element to the Nakaya Naka-ai Writer Ballpen. Both Parker rollerball-style gel refills and Parker QuinkFlow oil-based ballpoint-style refills are available.
