The Nakaya Long Writer Shobu fountain pen dresses this 6 1/2'" writing instrument in deep, royal purple. With such a regal color saturating this oversized fountain pen, the Long Writer Shobu fountain pen is fit for royalty.
The rhodium-plated clip shown here brings out the best in the deep purple color--and while the Long Writer is too large to fit comfortably in most shirt pockets, the clip also functions admirably as a built-in roll-stopper.
This Nakaya fountain pen is made of hand-turned ebonite hard rubber that is meticulously layered with urushi, a material made from the sap of a Japanese lacquer tree. Shobu is a particularly time intensive finish to create, with most Shobu pens requiring six months or more to be completed.
Nakaya pens can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter, and can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.
The Nakaya Long Writer Shobu fountain pen is provided with your choice of solid gold 14k single-tone nib in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad or Extra Broad nibs, with Fine Soft, Medium Soft, and Super Extra Fine nibs also available.
Nakaya pens ship in a solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script and lined with decorative rice paper. A fabric pen "kimono" and starter box of Platinum brand cartridges are also included, making this pen a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.
Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.
Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
