Nakaya Briarwood Deep Gloss Chinkin Arabesque Platinum
The Briarwood Chinkin Arabesque Platinum offers handcrafted chinkin engraving on the natural wood surface of the Briarwood model. Platinum powder is used for the fill of the engraving, and a layer of deep gloss urushi lacquer protects the pen and provides a pleasing smooth feel in the hand. Wood grain is just visible below the layers of urushi lacquer which adds a richness that only wood can bring. With Nakaya having discontinued the use of briarwood, this is the last of these pens we will receive - once it is gone, no more will be available.
Our complimentary nib tuning adjusts pressure and ink flow to your personal preferences. Nakaya 14k solid gold nibs also make an excellent starting point for many of our exclusive nib customizations.
Chinkin is one of the most exacting and time-consuming of Maki-e techniques - each Nakaya pen in this style is hand-finished in the traditional craft center of Wajima on the west coast of Japan. Final pen assembly occurs at the Nakaya workshop in Tokyo, and the nib is then set and adjusted at the Nibs.com offices in Los Angeles. Optional nib customizations are also available.
This pen can fill with any bottled fountain pen ink when fitted with a converter, provided by us free of charge with your order. It can also use convenient Platinum brand disposable ink cartridges.
Each pen is packaged in a special softwood presentation box which includes a fabric pen kimono and starter pack of cartridges. We are an authorized Nakaya dealer.
