Hand-crafted from ebonite hard rubber and equipped with 14k solid gold Bock nibs, the Eboya Kyouka is made available in the Large, Medium, and Small sizes in four different colors: Kougetsu Yellow, Kumpuu Green, Shinkai Blue, and Tanshin Red.
The Eboya Kyouka Large in Kougetsu Yellow is a pen with a commanding presence. With tones evoking camouflage or the desert at night, this is a full-sized writing instrument that is as much a superb everyday writer as it is a notable piece of design craftsmanship in its own right.
Eboya's parent company, Nikko Ebonite Ltd., provides the ebonite hard rubber for most of the major Japanese pen manufacturers. Under the Eboya brand name, their range of products includes pen pillows and guitar picks as well as fountain pens. Whatever the product line, this company displays an imaginative and innovative use of ebonite hard rubber that showcases the versatility and durability of this naturally harvested material.
Note how the decoratively knurled barrel end facilitates easy and secure posting.
"Eboya - Made In Tokyo" is machine-engraved on the barrel for a classic appearance - no laser was used.
Eboya pens are hand-turned from ebonite hard rubber, with color added during the vulcanizing process. The pen body is then carefully polished. Raw ebonite pens of this kind are highly prized by users and collectors, but are rarely made available by manufacturers due to the artisanal nature of the manufacturing process and the care needed at each step of production.
Each Eboya pen, in fact, requires a minimum of six months to be produced. Shielding the pen from long periods of exposure to direct sunlight will help preserve the original apperance, but it should also be noted that Eboya considers the changes in tone and color that can evolve in time to be part of the natural maturation process for this pen.
Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships. See our nib set-up and optimization page for more details.
Eboya pens are individually handcrafted in a process requiring a minimum of three to six months.
