With its rich finish and brilliant precious metal trim, the Cross Townsend Black Lacquer Rhodium Plated fountain pen is a fresh take on classic American style. All dressed up in a modern version of black and white, this is the tuxedo of Townsend writing instruments.

 


Inspired by 1930s Art Deco motifs, the Cross Townsend is designed with simple yet sophisticated lines. Multiple layers of black lacquer envelop the cap and barrel in a streamlined finish, and the signature double band adds a luxurious touch. This pen is a perfect choice for those who tend to gravitate towards silver when selecting watches or jewelry.

 


At a closed length of 5.9" and a weight of 34.9 grams, this is a full-sized and well-balanced pen. It is a fairly slender pen with a barrel width of 0.4", yet still maintains a bit of heft, especially when capped. It can use convenient Cross brand ink cartridges, or can be filled with any bottled fountain pen ink using the included converter.


The Cross clip allows this pen to be easily affixed to a shirt pocket, making it the perfect pen for business meetings or for signing important documents. Rhodium plating on the end cap, clip, and double band provides a cool contrast to this fountain pen's 23k gold-trim counterpart.
A very solid "click" can be heard when putting the cap on. This makes an almost airtight seal between the cap and barrel, which helps prevents early dry-out of the nib. The clutch cap mechanism also allows for the cap to be easily removed when you are ready to write.

 


These 18k nibs, the same as are used in Pelikan pens, are well-suited to customizations such as Cursive Italic, Left Oblique, and our special Architect's Point modification.
