Inspired by a Korean Indian ink drawing of a crab, Nakaya made this fountain pen design by using the ''togi-kiri'' maki-e technique, using silver-based lacquer ware to keep the feeling of an Indian ink drawing.

Nakaya originally created this fountain pen for a customer from the UK.
Winding around the cap is an eel grass motif which seems to drift with the current. Its full effect can be appreciated by rotating the cap to see the "movement".When looking at this pen one can almost feel the sand between your toes.
The heavy decorative rice paper, simple solid softwood shipping box, and fabric pen pouch make a lovely presentation for these Nakaya Urushi pens. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.
