The Pilot Custom 823 Smoke Demonstrator offers a darker-hued variation in the same style as the popular 823 Amber. This easy to use and generous capacity vacuum-filler is normally provided with only limited nib choices, but we can equip this pen with your choice from among the full range of fourteen different Pilot #15 14k solid gold nibs.
Our complimentary nib tuning adjusts optimum pressure and ink flow to your personal preferences, and our optional nib customizations can add to the flair and distinctiveness of your writing on the page. We are an authorized Pilot dealer.
Provided with your choice of 14k solid gold nib, the Pilot Custom 823 Smoke Demonstrator utilizes a unique piston-vacuum filling system. A special cut-off valve in the blind cap allows you to stop ink flow when not writing, making this a particularly appropriate pen for air travel or just any situation in which you want added security against minor leaks.
The pen ships in a sateen-lined presentation box and includes a special 70 ml bottle of Pilot Blue ink. Each pen will be carefully inspected and tested by us prior to shipping to you.

Pilot 823 is a pen that I have wanted for a long time.
I got into fountain pens, beginning with a Lamy Safari back in 2014 during college. Since then, I purchased a Lamy 2000 EF, Pilot Metropolitan M, and Pilot Custom 74 F. Seeing that I enjoyed offerings from Lamy and Pilot, I knew that the 823 was the next big purchase.
I got this pen with the custom cursive italic ground in Medium. This was my first pen purchased from nibs.com and custom ground. In fact, this is my first ever cursive italic. I was initially quite nervous; the pen is expensive and I feared not enjoying the cursive italic grind on the beautiful gold nib.
The pen arrived today, and after sampling with Pelikan Edelstein Olivine Green on Midori MD notebook, I can safely say that this is an amazing pen. It has the characteristics of cursive italics that I heard so much about, but I specified that this pen still needs to write quite smoothly. Thankfully, I can attest to the pleasurable writing experience, smooth yet producing those unique italic manuscripts that add more character to my handwriting.
Safe to say, that I whole-heartedly recommending purchasing fountain pens from nibs.com as well as the custom grinds that can be added onto the fountain pens. Will purchase from here again, in the future.
