This pre-owned fountain pen is in Mint condition with its original box and papers.
The bold artwork is by Maki-e master Koushu Nishihara, also responsible for Sailor's noted Creatures of the Deep series. Nishihara utilizes a variety of precious materials, including gold dust and abalone raden, to bring this representation of the King Eagle to life.
This is generously full-sized pen that will still be a very comfortable fit for most users. As always with Sailor, this unique Maki-e pen is also a superbly responsive and practical writing instrument. The nib size utilized is the same as that in the Sailor Pro Gear and 1911 Full-Size pens.
Note the fierce stare of the King Eagle as he perches on a steady branch. His abalone-inlaid eyes tell us he has found his prey and is ready to attack. The ample use of gold and silver dust adds to the value and collectable nature of this pen while still utilizing color gradients found in nature. Notice the concentration of gold in the full moon. The cap detail depicts the eagle soaring above the land. With a wingspan of almost two meters and a weight up to 5 kg, it's not difficult to see why this bird is both feared and respected.
