This early eye-dropper safety pen employs an internal screw mechanism to extend and retract the nib. When retracted, the pen was ready to accept ink, be filled and then sealed with the screw-on cap. Because this pen seems to have spent most of its life in its leather covered plush Edward Tod & Co. presentation box the lined gold-filled cap and barrel are in excellent condition. However, the pen needs to be refurbished to be a practical writer. And the hinge on the box does not connect the base to the top.
