Rich marbled swirls of dark burgundy red against a black background give the Eboya Kyouka Large in Tanshin Red a warmly inviting and authoritative presence. This full-sized fountain pen is sure to capture the eye and command attention. Well-balanced in the hand and equipped with a solid gold nib from Bock in Germany, this pen is also a superb and durable everyday writing instrument.
Eboya supplies the hard rubber used by most of the major Japanese pen manufacturers, but the pens Eboya produces under their own brand name have a unique aesthetic entirely their own. Each pen is hand-crafted in a process that requires six months or more.
Note the knurled engraving which accents the appearance of the barrel end. Eboya Kyouka pens are designed to be used in either posted or unposted positions.
"Eboya - Made In Tokyo" is machine-engraved on the barrel - no laser was used.
Raw ebonite pens such as the Kyouka are highly prized by pen collectors and users - the tactile feel of ebonite hard rubber is familiar to those who own vintage pens from the golden age of fountain pens.
Care should be taken to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extremes in temperature, but while the surface will naturally mature over time, the ebonite body itself is sturdy and durable - many pens created using this material are still in everyday usage decades and more after being originally produced.
