Namiki Yukari Royale Lioness and Cubs
An exceptional work of Maki-e art realized in exacting and time intensive Togidashi-taka Maki-e technique, the Namiki Yukari Royale Lioness and Cubs is hand-finished by artists who are members of the renowned Kokkokai collective in Kanagawa, south of Tokyo. Each pen is provided with your choice of 18k solid gold nib.
Our complimentary nib tuning adjusts pressure and ink flow to your personal preferences, and our optional nib customizations can add to the distinctiveness of your writing on the page. We are an authorized Namiki dealer.
The startling and dramatic motif of this pen, realized using gold and silver powders and urushi lacquer, depicts a lioness watching over her cubs as they ascend from a ravine. The stylized depiction of the lioness and cubs is in keeping with traditional depictions found in Japanese paintings and sculpture and in Shinto shrines.
Not just a remarkable work of art in its own right, the Namiki Yukari Royale Lioness with Cubs can also be an outstanding everyday writing instrument. The pen can fill with any bottled fountain pen ink when fitted with the provided converter, and can also use convenient Pilot brand disposable ink cartridges. An elegant presentation box adds to the pen's value and collectibility.
