Namiki Emperor Shoki Limited Edition
The Namiki Emperor Shoki Limited Edition has been produced in only 99 numbered pieces worldwide. Only a very small number of these were made available to North American retailers, and we are very proud to be able to offer this extraordinary writing instrument to our customers.
We have just one of these remarkable pens, #40 of 99, still remaining. We have left it sealed and untouched in its original packaging for any collector who prefers a never-opened item, but can also provide our regular nib tuning and customizations to any purchaser who would like to use this beautiful work of Maki-e art as an everyday writing instrument. We are an authorized Namiki dealer.
The introduction each year of a new Namiki Emperor Limited Edition is eagerly anticipated by those pen users and collectors devoted to the most exceptional works of high end Maki-e art. The release for 2019, the Shoki, more than fulfills expectations with its masterful use of Taka, Togidashi, and Shishiai Maki-e techniques by renowned artist and Kokkokai Collective member Yutaka Sato.
Shoki, also known as Zhong Kui, is a Chinese deity associated with protection from evil spirits and also known as a guardian of treasured goods. He is often associated with the Five Bats of Good Fortune, which is itself the subject of this year's Five Bats Limited Edition Maki-e pen from Pelikan.
More than just an exceptional work of art in its own right, the Emperor Shoki fountain pen can also be a reliable and versatile everyday writing instrument. The eyedropper fill system allows for a very generous ink capacity, and the pen is equipped with your choice of 18k solid gold nib. A matching lacquered presentation box including a special ink bottle and limited edition number plate add to the pen's value and collectibility.
