Nakaya Portable Writer Ama-iro
Delightfully different than the more traditional darker hues Nakaya is known for, the Portable Writer (with clip) Ama-iro fountain pen adds a lighter color to the mix. Ama-iro literally translates from Japanese as sky color, a color that is achieved by the application of multiple layers of urushi lacquer.

Ama-iro refers to the light blue finish, and with a rhodium clip and nib this pen is reminiscent of a clear springtime sky.
As with all hand-painted pens, the colors will vary slightly from pen to pen - no two will ever be exactly the same. This particular pen incorporates a bit more turquoise, for example, while some other Ama-iro pens have more of a pastel shade, such as this Piccolo Writer.

Nakaya pens ship in a solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script and lined with decorative rice paper. A fabric pen "kimono" and starter box of Platinum brand cartridges are also included, making this pen a lovely presentation item.
