I ordered this pen with an EF nib that I wanted tuned so that it wrote a thin moderately wet line suitable for everyday use on both good paper and the cheap copy paper everyone deals with everyday in an office enviornment. The Lucens material is beautiful and transparent so you can see your ink level in the pen at all times. The piston is smooth and works wonderfully. It is similar to a Montegrappa piston in that when you extend the plunger the blind cap does not separate from the body of the pen but remains in place. However, unlike a Montegrappa piston the piston here only clicks when you have retracted the piston back all the way to let you know that it is fully retracted. The piston mechanism does not click when you are extending the piston but you will know the piston is fully extended as you will no longer be able to turn the blind cap when you have done so. Finally the 14K nib is a beauty also. John tuned the nib perfectly and the nib is a perfect writer, exactly what I was looking for per my order request. The only criticisim, which is purely personal, is that the stamping on the nib appears to be laser etched rather than engraved. But it's a wonderful pen and you won't regret getting it especially after it is tuned by Nibs.com.
