Nakaya Naka-ai Writer Ishime-Katshitsu Kikyo
Available exclusively from us here at Classic Fountain Pens, the Nakaya Naka-ai Writer Ishime-Kanshitsu Kikyo is hand produced in a process that can take six months or more. Dried urushi lacquer is sprinkled over the pen surface to achieve the stone surface finish - the urushi artist even hand adjusts the urushi flakes to ensure that they form a consistent and aesthetically pleasing surface!
Our complimentary nib tuning helps ensure that your Nakaya pen will have performance equal to its distinctive appearance. Our optional nib customizations add character and flair to your writing on the page, and can make this pen a valuable tool for the professional or amateur calligrapher.
Nakaya pens are hand-turned from natural ebonite hard rubber in Tokyo, then sent to Wajima, on the west coast of Japan, for hand-finishing by skilled urushi artists. Ishime-Kanshitsu is a particularly painstaking and time intensive technique. After each finished pen is assembled and inspected in the Nakaya workshop in Tokyo, final nib setting and tuning is done here at Classic Fountain Pens in Los Angeles.
Each Nakaya pen ships in a special softwood presentation box decorated with kanji-style script. A fabric pen kimono and starter pack of Platinum ink cartridges are included - the pen can also be filled with any bottled fountain pen ink by utilizing the provided converter. We are an authorized Nakaya dealer, and each pen is carefully tested by us before shipping.
