End of Summer


The Coho Ferry leaves Victoria for Port Angeles, the second leg of our trip back to the nib works.

Yesterday we left our island home of 45 years after a summer of work and play. The canvas boat shed of last winter collapsed under the weight of heavy snow and needed to be replaced with one that can hold up to the less predictable seasons of our current climate. The play part involved getting our new dog, Zena, to swim in the salt water. As a seven year old rescue, she had never seen ocean water and even though we coaxed her from the deep she decided to wait us out, legs wet only and bark her objection. Next year...

I'll be getting back just in time to make a selection of new pens for our web site - we'll soon have exciting news about a new brand we'll be adding to our offerings...

I think I've been on that very ferry. My mom and I made the trek from Port Angeles to Victoria one year when she and her husband resided in Washington. Good memories. I miss it still.
