It's time for National Novel Writing Month! NaNoWriMo (as it's known) takes place over the thirty days of November every year. Every participant challenges themselves to complete 50,000 words of a novel (or memoir, or nonfiction book) by midnight on November 30th.

Autumn is nearly upon us once again! Students and teachers are, without a doubt, the people who put their writing tools to the most rigorous and determined use. Fountain pens are perfectly suited for these serious writers — because of their durability, their reliability, their ergonomic comfort, their benefit to the environment, and most of all, their individual beauty and character.

Our generation is bombarded with all manner of objects and advertising that purports to be authentic craft. Many of these are made by large manufacturers looking to capitalize on what is perceived to be authentic. Witness big breweries that produce beers for mass consumption that purport to be "hand-made," when actually they gush from huge pressurized storage tanks. Websites offer game memorabilia that they say is  "authentic craft." No wonder there is confusion. 

Sailor Pens of Japan is no longer accepting most orders for their well-known Specialty Nibs, so we are now limited to the very small number of these made available to us. However, the writing experience afforded by these nibs can often be closely approximated by customizations we offer here in the workshop, and in pen models other than just Sailor.
