Testimonials

Thank you for your beautiful job on the nibs. Your work has certainly changed my approach to "junking" nibs. I’ll have more nibs for you in the future.
The Best, Boris Rice (April 14, 1993)

As long as John keeps on working his magic, the written word will never be replaced by electronics.
Stephen Goldsmith (May, 2001)

You know that you're spoiling me for regular nibs ... you probably should have a Warning! on your website, "The Secretary General warns that continued use of Mottishaw nibs has been proven to be highly addictive. Use at your own risk!"
Jack Leone (Bexley Pens 6/27/02)

Thank you so much to John and everyone who was so helpful to me on the phone and with my order. I LOVE my new pen and find myself writing down even the smallest list just to be able to use my pen. I know that I will be back to have some of my older pens transformed for me as well.
Thank you again to you all for making the entire transaction so easy and the outcome so "awesome".
Leslie F. Gaylord (01/16/07)

Dear Ms. Ackor and Mr. Mottishaw,
The pen arrived today, the perfect, simple, elegant design of the pen is astonishing it that it is truly intentionally understated and the epitome of "less is better" it is good to have a pen that is not distracting and draws attention. I am overwhelmed remarkable fluidity of the pen . On my good paper it has no tooth at all. I used Noodler's Coeur Royal ink. I am more than pleased , it writes very smoothly. I think you over estimated my writing pressure. I haven't twisted, splayed, bent, or destroyed a nib yet to my knowledge. I like to write deliberately. I can't write well if I have the pen just skipping along the paper dancing in air making ornate swirls.
Thank you for this marvelous pen. Fantastico!!!!...
Steven M. (01/16/07)

Dear Nibs Team,
My 87 year old mother was more delighted with this masterful repair than with any other gift I have ever given her. She is hard at work writing to everyone she knows, and fairly crowed at the smooth and familiar tool she has used, according to legend, for over 70 years. As a French friend said about an old and humble bottle of family wine, "It's not so special, but it is VERY special." Thank you for hand-cleaning the nib, and responding so promptly. I will brag on your service for years.... Thanks again,
Ellen Kochansky (01/17/07)

Hi Pat --
Just a note to let you know that the pen arrived on Friday evening. The pen is absolutely gorgeous, and writes like a dream. Please let John know that he did a perfect job on the flow (I don't usually get fine nibs because I like a wet point), but this nib feels like it's riding on air. Thanks again for your help. --Phil (01/17/07)

To all:
I received my Namiki Falcon with extra fine and flexible nib much sooner than I had expected, and what a pleasure it is to write with. I cannot tell you what a pleasure it was doing business with you; certainly a rare experience these days!... Thanks again!
From frigid Colorado,
Mark Clancy (01/12/07)

Dear Pat, The pen writes wonderfully well. I am delighted with the way it writes and flows so effortlessly. I am really looking forward to using the Omas as my "additional" daily pen. THANK YOU for a great job done! Besides writing well, it is also a very good looking pen!

Pat... I got the pen... I love it... This is the first M600 I've owned, and I'm not sure how I ever lived without it.... You have a great company with a level of customer service I haven't ever received even from other pen sellers... Thanks again,
Ray Johnson (01/11/07)

I rec'd the Mont Blanc FP and it is a beautiful addition to my collection. I just inked it for the first time today and it writes like on air. Thank you so much for the prompt service and the opportunity to purchase this pen. Dave K. (01/10/07)

Well, Pat, my pen arrived about an hour ago and I'm fairly certain my projects for this afternoon will be tomorrow's projects.
The stub was an excellent choice: now that I've tried it I'm certain I could handle the cursive italic nib, but I don't believe I could write as quickly or fluently. I suspect for my next pen I'll try the Falcon in cursive italic. I'm using Private Reserve Midnight Blues and I couldn't be much happier with either the pen or the ink.

Pete Sampson (1/05/07)

(Ed: this arrived as a hand-written note:) To my friends at Classic Fountain Pens, Inc., Thank you for the work by John Mottishaw on the Pelikan nib. Never have I enjoyed writing with a pen as much as I do now with custom crafted stub nib... this was definitely worth the wait. Your business and service is one of the best kept secrets around, if word spreads you would have to clone more persons to do such great work.... Don Dunn (12/21/06)

Pat: Forgive me the delay in getting back to you after the pen arrived. I have not really begun to work with it in any sustained way and I am just starting to get a feel for the work that John has managed. I am already certain that this may be one of those pens that I just can not wait to write with because the cursive italic is superb and the feel of the nib on the paper is extraordinarily smooth and responsive. Thank you again for excellent service, pass along my gratitude to John
best wishes,
Steven (12/19/06)

Hi Sharon,
The nib arrived today, and it is beautiful! I really appreciate John’s level of workmanship and attention to detail. The crack repair is virtually invisible. I won’t install it until next week (taking a few days off for the holidays), but I’m sure it will work perfectly.
Thank you,
Tom Pike (12/18/06)

Hi Pat... I received the Omas Autuno with the John modification of the nib about a week ago. I have wanted to really have an opportunity to use before telling you how much I love it. First it is beautiful, in an of itself. I find it a "light pen" or alternatively it doesn't have "heft" so I have had to adjust the pressure I use to write with it. This is an observation, not a criticism.
The medium cursive modification that John did I think is amazing. I am not an expert using nibs like this but it certainly writes much more smoothly than I anticipated and has the "character" that I wanted.... Peter (12/13/06)

Dear Pat/John,
I received the package yesterday, perfect service.I test the omas Ingegno and the pelikan ib:perfect ink flow, flexibility, smooth, great job,you have completely understood my requests... Thanks,

I have the nib (Ed: Parker 75 #98 Broad Formal Italic), and have been using it (with green ink) for Christmas cards. What a delight to have this pen write well - I was convinced that it was an ornery thing! Next year, perhaps I'll want a medium nib too... Thanks for a great nib, and such courteous service.

Dear Pat and John,
My new 2005 Omas Paragon with the BB Left Oblique nib arrived yesterday while I was at work. I got home late and was very tired, so I decided not to open the box (difficult to do, but I did wait) until this morning. It was nice to wake up today and have this anticipation of testing out the Paragon and Oblique nib.
It is great! The nib cut is perfect for me; I think John did a great job of matching the grinding to my writing style. I love the pen. It's got a little heft to it, but not so much to tire my hand and the size is a perfect size for me. From the web pictures, I was afraid that the clip on the cap would protrude too much, but it's quite attractive and actually enhances the pen nicely, I think.
Thanks for the great work and the fast shipment of my Christmas present!
Kind regards,
Bruce Bailey (12/23/06)

Hi Pat,
Thank you for... being so efficient... This incident illustrates the extraordinary customer service you all provide, service that is becoming so rare in the world of big-box life. I wish we could clone your actions.....Happy New Year!

John and Pat,
I've just returned from a week out of town and, as promised, your package was waiting for me. Thanks to you, a grand, old pen has returned to life. I'm absolutely delighted to have my writing partner in hand again. Michael (11/29/06)

Hi Pat and John
Received my red Pelikan Souveran 800 today. I am very pleased with its smoothness, ink flow, ink capacity and exquisite good looks. It actually glides over the paper more easily than my dear departed Omas MOMA pen.I am very glad that I took a chance on this without trying it out first. Will send you my old Mont Blanc for adjustments after I get through grading the mountain of exams and papers before me.
Best!
Mark Levy (12/06/06)

Sharon, I love the pen, the nib was the right choice. ) The ink is perfect as well, I thought it might be too light and bright, but it isn't. Perfecto Mundo!!! Thank you so much for your help.
Philip Johnson (12/07/06)

Hi Pat
The Arco arrived Monday morning our time. Wow! the celluloid is simply stunning on this pen (can’t stop looking at it). Truly worth persevering to eventually get this Omas; the 360 too clunky and deco, the Autunno a little too feminine and fancy for my taste. The nib set up is also perfect – please pass on my compliments to John. Thanks for your help and great service in setting this transaction up.
Best regards
Bob (11/26/06)

Dear Pat and Sharon,
Thank you for the meticulous care and precision with which you unfailingly mediate my vision of a pen's characteristics and John or Danielle's crafts(person)ship. The Dupont Orpheo arrived half an hour ago, and though I am busy preparing to give a graduate seminar, I just had to try out the pen. Let me dispense with the superlatives and simply say this: I'm tempted to skip class and sit home all day writing "happy holiday" notes to myself. You've taken an expensive, beautiful but "runny" and characterless fountain pen and turned it into a marvelous writer.
Sincere thanks for yet another superb job, and happy holidays to everyone there.
Jim Fujii (11/27/06)

(Ed: this arrived on 11/28/06 as a hand-written letter)"Mr. Mottishaw: Just a note of thanks to let you know how much I'm enjoying the Pelikan 3B nib you folks sent me recently. The nib is very smooth and writes like a dream. We'll do business again! Cordially, Doyle Phillips

(Ed: this arrived as a letter written with the described pen) Hello John & Pat, I want to express my complete satisfaction with a Sailor 1911 I examined at the Portland Pen Show and purchased soon after. I use it primarily for short notes, signatures, addressing correspondence. My primary choice for longer letters is still the Montblanc #146 which John repaired last year. I write to remain in contact with old friends, and I usually reserve an hour or two in the evening to relax with pen & paper. Thank you for another valued writing tool. I look forward to the Portland Pen Show in 2007, when I will probably purchase another gem like this! John's craftsmanship on this nib, combined with Sailor's inherent quality, equips me with an instrument I will treasure for years to come. Thank you. Respectfully, Ed Palumbo (11/15/06)

Hi Pat,
I want to thank you and John again for taking care of me and my Paragon. The pen is now writing perfectly and the nib is wonderful. Right from the first email to the return, you guys were on top of this like it was a matter of national security... Thanks again and have a nice Thanksgiving.
Until the next pen,
John Cullen (11/20/06)

Hi Pat,
Just got the desk pen that John repaired. It is just amazing. Can't tell that it was ever broken. Fabulous job. Please convey my thanks to John. Will make a wonderful Christmas present - 2nd time around!! - for my wife...
Peter (11/23/06)

Danielle,
The beautiful Bronze Arco arrived! It looks great and the cursive italic nib letters just right – even smoother than I imagined. You all did a fabulous job of working with me. I’ll send a handwritten note after you are settled into the new office....
Thanks!
Al Causey (11/02/06)

Hi Pat:
This is Jorge. The pen arrived Wednesday night with no problem. It is prettier and writes better than I expected. And the flow is just, just perfect! When I got it I tried it and thought, How come I've never had a pen that flowed so well? It took me a couple of hours to remember that it had been adjusted just for me. Thanx a lot. Jorge (11/09/06)

(Ed: this arrived as a handwritten letter) Dear Mr. Mottishaw,
You are my first recipient of a letter using the olde green Sheaffer Snorkel pen which you have clearly restored to working order. The nib is smooth to the page, with just enough drag to make it feel I am doing something.... It feels good to have it in my hand again. Thank you very much.
Sincerely Yours,
Loren L. Johnson (10/30/06)

Hi Pat and John: The M600 with the Dos Ojos nib arrived today. I very much like
the nib. The flexibility is terrific and it is "wet" without any pressure which
I like. Thanks, Len Kaban (10/20/06)

Hi Pat,
Well, it arrived and it's gorgeous! (Ed: a Pelikan 1935 Lapis) Almost too pretty to ink. But I did anyway. So far I've only written a few lines with the oblique nib but it's wonderful. John did a great job for me of finding the sweet spot. I love the line size from the .7 and get enough variation with it to add some character to my poor handwriting. I'm going to have a lot of fun learning to get the best from it but on such a light and responsive pen, I really feel like I can write with it all day. I can't wait to try the flexible fine nib, that will be an entirely new experience.
Thanks again!
Kent Kochheiser (10/23/06)

Hi Pat...
The pens arrived in fine condition. I just filled the Lominchay, and think it is perhaps wrong to ask if I'm happy. Actually, I'm ecstatic! The nib is probably as close to perfection as anything I could ever hope for. It is a wonderful writing pen. Wow!...Thanks again for a fantastic job.
Ron Hill (10/24/06)

Pat
My two fountain pens arrived whilst I was in London. I have now filled them and written with them and they are, as usual, exactly right (or maybe exactly write?). Thanks again for the superb service-it is worth the wait.
George Heitczman (10/14/06)

Dear Pat,
This morning I received the Sheaffer Balance with the new medium nib. It couldn't be better! The line matches my hand writing perfectly and the nib and flow are as smooth as I could imagine. Great job! By the way, the pen was really cleaned up and especially the gold filled parts in which much of the brassing seems to have been removed. It really shines!...
Best wishes,
Ron Butow (10/16/06)

Hi Danielle and everyone!
My beautiful red Sailor 1911 arrived today. I love it--everything: the color, the feel of the pen, the smooth line the nib expresses. I would have had more trepidation about buying over the Internet if I hadn't felt reassured by the passion and knowledge evident both on your website and on the phone. This kind of connoisseurship and personal service is a rare, wonderful thing in today's world.
Thank you so much!
Miriam van Werkhoven (10/17/06)

Dear Pat,
I just wanted to let you know that my new pen arrived yesterday. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am with it. It really is the perfect shorthand pen, and I know it will get many, many hours of use. It doesn't even compare to the Esterbrook I was using.

I'm astounded that John was able to customize the nib so perfectly (and on the very first try) only by looking at the two samples I sent and reading my e-mails. He must be telepathic (or perhaps he was a Pitman shorthand writer in another life!)....
Thanks so much again to both of you.
Take care,
Josh (10/10/06)

Hi, Pat.
Have spent a solid couple of weeks with the Omas Arco, so can give some true considered feedback. Visually, the pen is a delight. The celluloid is very beautiful and the appearance of the pen changes depending on the angle of view and the lighting.
The italic effect that John has conjured up is more marked than that from the Sailor Hagi-Bush, but I am very happy with it. My leftie style does not lend itself to much pencraft, and as such, I really like the effect that the nib produces automatically.
The nib feel is not as silky smooth as the Sailor or Namiki Bamboo that John has previously modified for me, but this is probably more to do with the fundamental shape difference of the European pens versus the Japanese pens. Having said this, I am happy with the ink flow and reliability.
All up, a very happy and satisfied customer!
All the best from down under,
Tom G. (Perth, Australia) (10/12/06)

I got the package in a day or so, I'm using the nib and it's as perfect as I can imagine. Thank you very much. Kathy Klyce (9/24/06)

Dear Pat,
The pens have arrived safely.
I'm so pleased with these beautiful pens.
I already have a Snorkel in gray.
They will become my favorite Snorkel brother.

Thanks so much for your business.
Have a great day,
Daisuke (9/27/06)

Dear Pat,
My new pan arrived this morning safe and sound (though with a VAT bill, can’t avoid the TAX man). It’s writing beautifully, I thing the broad stub was a good choice. I shall look forward to trying it out over the coming days. Thanks again for all your help, an excellent service all round. Yours,
Liam Colleran (9/29/06)

Dear Pat and John,
The Omas pen finally arrived this afternoon, and it is splendid. The nicest pen I have ever owned. Beautifully ground. Thanks so much, John. I wish you had ground my other pens (half a dozen only). And thanks too very much for the statement about pen repair, etc. It all worked well....
Happy Canadian thanksgiving!
Stanford Patrick (10/06/06)

Dear Pat,
Sorry for my delay in responding. Sometimes the middle of the month can be hectic. I received the Pelikan and 1911 on Thursday last, a day earlier than promised. Thank you getting them to me so quickly. I got to use the 1000 with the O3B to stub conversion to sign paychecks. What a hoot. I absolutely love what it does to my signature. I have already had to refill it three times in five days just because I get such a kick out of trying different character sets with it to see how the letters will look. I give you an A+ on a great nib and fun pen. I also am quite pleased with the Sailor EF nib. I was a bit unsure how I would like it when I ordered it, being one enamored with big pens with big lines, but I find myself looking for places to use the EF. It is as smooth as promised and a welcome alternative to the usual medium I usually use for smaller writing. Overall two very nice and enjoyable pens. Again, very well done. Thanks for making fountain pens fun and exciting.
A.Blad (9/20/06)

Hi Pat,
I received the pen and have been trying it out all evening. Wow. It's the difference between a butter knife and true cutlery. It will take some adjustment in my penmanship, but I can see a remarkable difference already. Thanks so much for your quick turnaround on this order. Truely a magnificent instrument!
Sincerely,
- Mike (9/20/06)

(Ed: this arrived as a letter printed in calligraphic italic:) Dear All, I thought that I should write briefly to say how delighted I am with the pen that arrived last week, It is exactly what I wanted and the nib has a flexibility that I have not been able to find for a very long time - since the days of the Swan "Calligraphic" - I'm talking some 50 years or more ago. Again, my many thanks for your great service. Yours, Bill Bryant (9/2/06)

Hi Pat- Just wanted to let you know that my husband absolutely loves his pen. It is his new favorite, second to his favorite Pelikan with a custom nib by John. Thanks for all your help. Michele Babaie (9/11/06)

Hi Pat and Danielle,
Just got to my computer, wanted to send word that the three new arrivals were patiently waiting on my doorstep Friday when I got home from work. I have been playing with them all weekend. Each and everyone is a star performer. Thanks a bunch you guys are the greatest. Smiles, Shea Stanfield (9/11/06)

I received my Sailor 1911 Colors red pen. I really love it! It writes very smoothly and is perfect for my writing needs. Thanks again!
Tania Tulcin (9/1/06)

Pat: The pen arrived on Friday and it is magnificent. I am so very pleased that I could get such a perfect instrument for my work. Please thank John for getting to this when he was trying to get out of town for a much deserved vacation.
Thanks again for another great job,
Steven (9/5/06)

The pen arrived in pristine condition a little while ago. It writes wonderfully and is set up perfectly for me. Yall are geniuses there. Many thanks. I am a happy customer.
Robin Johnson (9/6/06)

Dear Pat & John,
I got my pens yesterday – thanks for getting them out and in my hot little hands so quickly. The Spencerian customization of the M805 is masterful – I only hope my technique is up to its capabilities. The yellow 1911 is certainly an eye-popping beauty – yeow, is it bright! As always, thanks for the friendly service; it’s a pleasure doing business with you.
-Brian Kerns (8/25/06)

Dear Danielle and Pat:
Thank you for all the arrangements in securing the black version of the OMAS Milord. This is the pen I admire and wanted; and with the polished facets, it radiates with beauty. I enjoy looking at it as well as using it!
It writes beautifully and was adjusted nicely...
I'll stop by the booth at the next L.A. pen show. Thanks again for the friendly and informative service.
Bill Favata (8/28/06)

Ed: this one arrived as a note written with the subject pen: Re: Shady Lady! I am really, really, really, really, by the way did I say: really really happy with the nib! Splendid artistry! Earl. P.S. I am holding the pen so lightly that by the time I finished writing this it had floated away to another room. (9/1/06)

Pat and John and all ----Many thanks --- LOVE, LOVE, TRULY LOVE my new Sailor 911 silver pen!
James St. Cloud (8/20/06)

Dear Pat,
The big, broad, 7-30 nib safely and swiftly arrived today. Naturally, it fit perfectly and writes like a dream : )
You guys (and gals...) ROCK!
Thanks for the wonderful (as always) service!
Best regards,
Andy Sonnemaker (8/23/06)

Pat,
I love, love my new Parker pen! Please pass on to John my appreciation for delivering exactly what I asked for... My experience with your company has been a pleasure and I look forward to sending you a sketch in the near future.
Respectfully yours,
Jim Vakalopoulos (8/13/06)

Hi Pat and John,
The pen arrived on Sat and writes just like my other Sailor EF nib - ie perfect! The Sailor does have the finest ef nib of any that I have ever come accross which is a joy. The bright yellow color is just so cool :)...
Many thanks again for your great service!
Kenn (8/14/06)

Pat/John
I just got the pen from Michael. He restored the pen to looking brand new and installed the nib that John did. It writes beautifully. Extremely smooth, beautiful lines in all directions. I’ve thanked Michael in a separate email and I want to thank you and John for great service and superb craftsman/person/ship. Thank you also for going the extra step in coordinating and overcoming the logistical obstacles. As always, top notch.... Take care, thanks for doing what you do so well.
Mike Alter (8/7/06)

(Ed: we received the following as a letter on 7/10/06)
Dear Pat, Danielle and John, I just wanted to let you know that the Sailor 1911 International arrived on time. As expected, the pen is perfect! Please update my account info to have every pen I get from you in the future write just like this one. Aside from the best writing experience I've ever experienced, the look of this mocel is quite bearable... basic black suits this pen well... As usual, your service was excellent. Thank you for this great pen! Regards, Dan Gillette

Pat, John, et al,
The yellow full size Sailor 1911 pen, the tortoise Waterman pen, and the black Omas Paragon .7mm pencil arrived yesterday as promised. After looking at the big yellow cigar pen on my desk, I am puzzled at why the Parker Mandarin yellow pen of the late 1920’s was so unpopular. Both the Sailor and Waterman wrote quite well immediately. They will be in my regular writing rotation. The Omas pencil works as advertised; it will be a permanent addition to my pencil drawer.
Thanks for the excellent service. Have a good summer
Dick Loyd (7/18/06)

Pat:
I apologize for not writing sooner -- my computer was zapped by a lightning storm two weeks ago and I'm finally back on line tonight. The Parker 51 and... I'm extremely pleased with the pen!!! Thanks again to you and John for an absolutely superb writing experience! The pen floats over the paper like I'm writing with a beam of light....
David Budde (7/26/06)

Pat-
Got the pen yesterday and it writes beautifully! The new nib and section are working perfectly. I am very pleased! Thank you to you and John for a job well done. I've had that pen since 1974, so it is a genuine pleasure to be using it again.
Andy (7/9/06)

Pat:
I got the new Sailor a couple of days ago. You and John are great! I love the weight and balance with the cap posted and the nib customization is, as always, superb! Thanks again.
Regards,
Howard L. Gum (7/11/06)

Dear Pat,
Received the pen today and it's wonderful. Thanks so much for having John 'tweak' it, it writes like a dream. Exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Tara Wheeler (7/12/06)

Subject: my M800
I got the pen today, filled it with Mont Blanc Blue/Black, and love it. The extra fine line this nib is capable of is truly remarkable. I did note that this nib does not take much pressure at all to flex into a pleasing Spencerian line. I love it.
Thanks again,
Stew Hastings (7/7/06)

Hi Pat,
I received the M320 this morning. What a great little pen -- it's so pretty! It writes perfectly & I could not be more pleased overall.
I think that I now have a new addiction and will definitely be doing business with you again. :) Thanks again for a great transaction!
Jina (7/7/06)

I received the package and everything worked out well. I think I can definitely get used to medium points ... it's a very smooth writer.... The medium on the Milord especially is working out great ... I can get good control over the line thickness with pressure changes ... almost like having a flex nib.
Also the reconditioned nib on the 360 is writing beautifully. In fact I think it's turning out to be the best writing pen I have!
Thanks again. Peter H. Park (two messages, 6/17/06)

(Ed: the following arrived on 6/29/06 as a handwritten letter) Dear Pat, I am writing to say how pleased I am with my (latest) customized nibs... It was with a bit of trepidation that I first tried out the two Pelikan nibs, as it has taken a while to work out what would be best for me (thank you for your patience and understanding along the way!) but I have to say the result was exactly what I was looking for.
The broad customized to a right oblique stub is perfect for my daily writing. I use it mostly at work and the M605 is an ideal sized pen to use. The right oblique allows my writing to have a more "italic" look with much more line variation than any other type of nib I have tried.
The triple broad customized to a right oblique crisp italic is just wonderful to use in the 800. I was sticking my neck out a bit with this one, but it is more than I had hoped for, and I just love the result for handwritten correspondence and signatures.
I was expecting the crisp italic to be much more difficult to use but it isn't at all. It writes beautifully somoothly for me. Truly John is a master of his art!
Both nibs have transformed my writing in a way I never thought would be possible. So, thank you from a Doctor who's been struggling to improve his handwriting. Yours Sincerely, Neil Aiton

Dear Pat, Danielle and John,
Without a doubt, very wonderful work! I received the nib last week and gave it to Valerie - she was thrilled and gained a new level of love for her pen... please know that I am extremely pleased with the entire experience that you have given me. The extremely quick turn around, excellent quality of workmanship and wonderfully pleasant and professional communication with you all was truly top notch! Thanks again!
Semper Fi, Allen Thomas (6/8/06)

Danielle, Pat, and John -
Many thanks for the great pen. I received it yesterday evening and am very impressed. I think it has a stately elegance (Ed: an OMAS Venice Blue Milord), and writes very smoothly. I really appreciate your friendly and fast service.
Thanks again,
Thomas Leath (6/10/06)

(Ed: this arrived as a hand-written note:) Dear Pat! Just a quick note to Thank you and John for all the wonderful pens and nibs. My current favorite is this Rhodium Ogiva with the great BB cursive italic nib. It seems happiest with this Waterman Florida Blue ink. Thanks again. I can't wait to see that Autunno Celluloid! Best regards, Kent Kochheiser (6/12/06)

Dear Pat and John,
Thanks so much, they arrived safely wed around 530 and so far I have been playing with them all the time and see no fault with the work. They write beautifully and I’m very happy! The repair work on the cracks you can hardly see, great work! It is so great to do business with you, Pat and John, I think you are wonderful!
Again, thanks so much and take care!
Dennis Weathers (6/16/06)

Hi Pat, Just had to send you a brief note to let you know how pleased I am with my Omas blue royale since the recent nib modification. This pen has very quickly become my favorite...and it indeed is perfect!
Thanks for your help,
Joseph Lambert (5/25/06)

Dear Pat:
The M800 Cursive Italic nib unit arrived and much to my shock and surprise, it is fully acceptable!
For the nth time (I've lost count) John has gotten lucky when altering a nib for me. He must have a very large pocket full of rabbit's feet. I'm beginning to suspect skill may be involved but I don't want to go out on a limb ...
Thanks,
George Feyerabend (5/25/06)

Hi Pat, Danielle, and John -- I received the pen yesterday and love it! Also, I've never enjoyed
spending money over the phone so much . . . I was impressed by the way you approach pen selling and can't wait until I can order my Sailor extra-fine nib pen!
Thank you so much!
Mairi (5/26/06)

Hello Pat,
I received the modified Pelikan. Just as you promised, it writes like a dream. The ink flow is just right, and you were right when you recommended a .7 coursive italic nib. On paper such as in my Moleskine notebooks, this fountain pen gives me a zen feeling.
Thank you very, very much.
P.S.
Make me proud: you can use this as a testimonial on your website. :)
Adrian Ionescu (5/27/06)

Pat and John -- Wow! I just opened the Ogiva broad oblique and the nib is wonderful. Very smooth, perfect inkfow, very interesting line. The pen is fabulous!... You guys are amazing. Thanks again for all you do!
Mike Sampson (5/18/06)

Danielle,Pat and John
My Pelikan 800 14 C XFine Xflex nib arrived today finally the anticipation was over it had arrived.
I quickly grabbed my 800 ready with ink and carefully removed the 18 C factory XF nib and installed the flex nib. First I started with a note book not great paper, it was nearest my chair. I was very pleased with the line and flow using a light touch, even with the cheap paper. Next I had to try it out with my pocket pad carried on a daily basis, this calls for small print and the nib came through with flying colors. I attribute this not only to the flex you added which gives me the added advantage of a multinib according to pressure applied but also how the flow and flex are so tuned to my writing style and this from a friendly conversation over the phone.
Thanks to the nibs.com team
Well pleased,
Craig Sirles (5/19/06)

Hi Pat -
The nib has arrived, and it's wonderful. I'm having no trouble at all with the fine italic. I can write as fast as I'm used to, and it gives a nice variation of width, despite the very fine line. Your cursive italics are really good day-to-day writing nibs.
Kind regards,
Steven Olson (5/24/06)

Pat...
I AM THRILLED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THE M805 AND THE CUSTOMIZATION SUITS MY HAND PERFECTLY. Sorry about the shouting but I really am very pleased with your service, prices, friendliness, information and above all John's customization. It has exactly the stroke width I wanted and while it is not quite as smooth as the Stipula I use, it is overall the best pen I have ever used. Thanks again.
I am not a collector of pens I just use them, so I don't know when we will do business together again. I will not forget everything you did for me and I will certainly pass the word amongst my pen friends. Thanks again.
Peter Lockwood (6/1/06)

Dear Pat and John,
thank you very much for complete restoring my favorite Red-Dust Striped Parker Duofold (from the year 1946) and retipping also the nib of my Swan Eternal no. 4460 (year 1949) in the ball-typed broad version. Both are writing in the very comfortable soft way that I had wished. Pat was always in contact with me giving patiently advice to clear many special questions that I presented her about these two pens and around the topic. I am very happy now to take the striped Parker and additionally the black Swan for my daily use. With such marvelous nibs one could write easily 100 pages without stopping. The both pens look like in the historic condition in which they might have been 70 years ago, but I doubt if they have ever written so smooth because of the firmer alloy that we have nowadays. John's individual skills and knowledge are worth to be handed over to the future and one can only hope that you will find disciples to continue the otherwise dying tradition of nib masters.
With my best recommendations
Dr. Dieter Wolf from Hamburg, May 12th 2006

May 17th, 2006
To Pat Ackor and John Mottishaw: many thanks for the pen which I picked up last Thursday, May 11th, from my N.Y. State postal Box. I am very impressed by the pen but, most of all, by your excellent service... I also appreciate your adjustment for the flow, which is just fine. I do not think there is a better place to do business than you. I look forward to do business with you in the near future.
Henri Lemyre (5/17/06)

Thanks Pat
The nib arrived and I can't thank you guys enough. Its writes amazingly beautiful. I will be sending you another nib soon.
best regards
Greg (5/18/06)

Dear Pat,
I received the pen and it writes like a dream. I knew there was some life left in the nib, which had to be teased out. Now it's like having an old friend back. Well worth the wait; and it's not like I had nothing to write with in the meantime ;)
Thank you so much,
Derek Weiler (5/5/06)

Dear Pat and John,
The pens arrived yesterday and I'm thrilled with the results. You do GREAT work! I'm also thrilled that you were able to return them two months earlier than expected! I'm going to Ireland in a few weeks and now I can take one of the pens with me... Thanks again - I couldn't be happier with the results. Also, your whole process for communication with the customer and then doing the actual work is the best!
All the best,
Pam Thimmes (5/10/06)

Good Morning,
The pen is loaded and writes exactly as I had hoped. Congratulations to you for capturing my rambles on what I'd like, and for John's execution. You are a model of customer service. Thanks for the wonderful experience, and the great pen. Real writing will follow.
Best wishes, and thanks again,
Gary Bartosiewicz" (5/11/06)
(Ed: on 5/15, this written note arrived:) Hello All~ Thank you for making the purchase of my Arco, and its custom nib, such a wonderful experience. Ordering couldn't have been easier, or friendlier. The nib is crisp without being sharp, and writes better than my handwriting deserves. The pen and your service put you at the top of the field. I'll be back! Best wishes, Gary

Pat,
The customized Sailor 1911 with Medium/Fine nib arrived today. My goodness! I was delighted; the pen exceeds my expectations. It seems to glide across the paper, almost like it had it's own spirit to move it. I am glad we decided on the Medium/Fine instead of the Medium. It is perfect.Thank you so much... Also, thank you for including information about the pen clubs. I am fairly new to all of this (even though I actually learned to write with a fountain pen as a child), and I think I'll join a club. Seems like a good way to learn a lot.
John Clarkson (4/27/06)

Got my pen back earlier this week. I am EXTREMELY satisfied. Writes more smoothly and w/ less effort than before I broke it. I'm going to go drop my other pens on the floor now so I can have ya'll fix them for me. Thanks much!!
Steve Waldo (4/27/06)

Just wanted to check back with you and say again what a wonderfull thing you all do in pen
nib repairs . . . its a blessing having you there "the Red Cross" of Fine Pens !!!!! thanks again for the great repair on my Mont Blanc Pen . . . something our friends at MB could not do . . . best regards, Bryan (4/19/06)

Dear Pat: Well, hose me down with ice-water: John's done it again! No surprise, of course. Yes, the Pelikan 800 EF nib arrived yesterday in good order, and I installed it this morning. Compared to the erstwhile EF nib I wrote you about this one writes "like butter"! As you warned, though, it's not like a Sailor EF nib ... quelle dômage. But the flow of ink is Homeric (I've decided to stay with Aurora) and now it's up to me to soup up my hand-writing. I propose to use my Pelikan 800 as my heaviest-use fountain-pen from now on. Zowie!
Regards to John (whom I've yet to 'phone-meet) and Danielle (with whom I chatted briefly two days back). Michael Berg (4/20/06)

Pat, the Edson arrived yesterday and is wonderful. He really works magic! I enjoy the feeling of the stub nib, especially on such a bold pen. I'll be on the lookout for anymore special twists to be put on other pens in my collection.
Sincerely,
Joshua Edwards (4/21/06)

Dear Pat and John, I just picked up my Pelikan Demonstrator pen at the post office today. I was delighted at the first sight---and even more so at the first stroke! The size of the pen, the balance, nib width, ink flow---all superb! I am sure my journaling efforts will increase as I look forward to the sheer pleasure of writing with my new favorite pen.
Thanks so much for your help and for supplying such a fine product and service.
Sincerely,
Greg Eanes (4/24/06)

My pen arrived this morning, and it felt like the return of an old friend. The new nib is much more suitable to my small and rather crabbed handwriting. Thanks again for being so helpful.... km" (then, in a second message:) "You are certainly welcome to quote me on your web site if you wish.... I didn't really say much however. What I would have said, had I known you wished to use my words, would have been something like this: dealing with your company has been a most pleasant experience, almost like shopping at a clothing store where the staff is attentive and knowledgeable and more interested in the client's needs and desires than in making a sale. In the not too distant future I intend to have you help me select a pen for my son's birthday. Thanks again. Ken McRae (4/13/06)

Hi Pat!
I received the nib and it is fantastic! Just what I wanted. Thank you so much for taking the time to make sure this nib was right for me. I'm so glad I spoke with you.
Have a wonderful day!
Jason (4/17/06)

(Ed: we received this testimonial as a snail mail letter) Dear Merry Nibsters, Well, another tour de force! This new Sailor 1911 with extra fine nib is awesome! I loaded the converter with Florida Blue and just took off. No skips, no starving, nothing; just a fine, smooth line. It is as smooth or smoother than any of the Pelikans you have done for me... Anyway, thanks for the personal service and another great nib... Regards, Michael Brown (4/18/06)

Pat-
The pen arrived yesterday. I’m completely pleased. Each time I send a pen to John I do so with the highest expectations. And each time his work exceeds my expectations. The workmanship and customer care from Classic Fountain Pens is truly classic! I thank you!
Lelan McLemore (4/18/06)

Pat, you and John have done it again! Fantastic result. Just the perfect nib for me, enough line variation to be interesting, not at all fussy to write with, wet but not too wet, I loved the pen originally, now it's better than ever.... Thanks again so much...
Kent Kochheiser (4/11/06)

Hi Pat, I got the pen, I am very happy with the work. (I was the one that dropped it ...) It writes very well. Thanks for the all the work. I've filled it with red ink and am going to use it to grade assignments. Mike (4/12/06)

Dear Pat,
I received the pen(s) and used the new one yesterday and everything is set right. I now have a pen with good design lines and good writing lines. I thank you and John for your careful work and
patience.... (Ed: in a second email) I am very happy with the pen. I guess the only long term problem is that I can only write with one at a time and it may be some time before I need another fine pen. Again, thank you for your care and attention. You might add this last sentence and part of this one because it really shows that you and the other folks in your company really care about your products and service. That is an uncommon combination these days, especially when transactions are remote and not in person.
Mark Brombeg (4/13/06)

Dear Pat,
Thank you so much for your kind, courteous, and prompt service. The pen, Sailor-fine point-1911, is so nice to write with. I have been using it for marking papers and use the violet ink. It writes just right, small enough for margins, yet large enough to see. It has worked out great. Several of my
friends, and my son, have tried to "borrow" it already. I see more purchases in the near future. Again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Darrell De Loach (3/27/06)

Pat and John:
Wow - writing nirvanna - my babies are performing perfectly. What a joy to use them again. They sure don't come from the factory/store with such performance. I am looking forward to getting the others back from you... My other pens are going to find there way to you soon.... Thanks again for such great service
Tom Scott (3/28/06)

Got the pen tonight (Ed: Sailor 1911 Sterling). It is very nice and smooth--just as I imagined. It's great. It's almost too pretty to use....I have bought pens from many sources and I am by far the most satisfied with your service and quality setup of the pens.
Stephen E. McGaughey (3/30/06)

(Editor: this arrived as a hand-written letter on 3/30/06): Dear Danielle & John, I just received my OMAS 360 Vision and wanted to say Thank You for the excellent service. Believe it or not, I received the pen just one day after placing my order. The pen itself is beautiful. It writes wonderfully and the medium nib is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again for all your help. Best regards, Dom

Pat,
I received the nib on Thursday. I installed the nib, inked the pen, and true to form it wrote beautifully from the start. I have written with an italic nib before but not with a custom ground Pelikan nib. My handwriting is beautiful! Please thank John for me. He is a true artisan and craftsman. Also my thanks to you for the kind and friendly way that you approach your work and for the advice that you are able to provide.
Craig Edwards (3/17/06)

Dear John and Pat,
Please forgive my tardiness in not acknowledging sooner the receipt of my customized cursive italic double broad Pelikan nib... I successfully installed my new nib... and when the installation was complete my Pelikan 1000 was transformed into the most extraordinary writing instrument I have ever owned. I couldn't be more delighted. Everything about the new nib was exactly as we had discussed over the phone and in the subsequent e-mails.
My thanks to both of you--to John for working his magic once again and to Pat for making the whole ordering process such a pleasure.
Most Sincerely,
B. Michael Herman (3/19/06)

Hi Pat,
I received the pen, and I am astounded at how smooth it is. This writing experience has completely reset my expectations for standard, round-tipped nibs. Out of curiosity, how much work did John have to do to make it perform so well? Never have I encountered an off-the-shelf pen that has even come close.
Thanks again!
Dave Shin (3/21/06)

Dear Pat:
I received the Sailor 1911 "Colors" yesterday and am amazed. I'd heard that John was the best around and so it proved. The nib and flow are obviously set perfectly because the pen writes like a dream! And let me not neglect to thank you for your wonderful and expeditious service...
Regards,
Michael (3/22/06)

Editor: this testimonial arrived as a hand-written letter: Dear Pat and John, I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know what a perfect match the pen (Pelikan M400, green, EF nib) is to my needs. The flow is perfect, it starts with zero pressure, and is quite smooth. A look under the loop has me believing John did a little smoothing and tweaking (I've never seen a Pelikan nib of any vintage look this good). It's amazing that you offer some of the best prices around, ship the same day, and do the most skillful nib tweaking available all as part of normal service. I am certain after a few transacitons with you that you are the best shop in all of pendom! Thanks again for the great pen and service. Regards, Dom (3/23/06)

Hi John and Pat,
The pens arrived yesterday afternoon in perfect condition and I was able to ink them tonight.
Well, I love them both -- they are juicy as I like them to be, just a bit smallish than most of my pens but still very comfortable to hold for a long time. I wrote several long pages of my journal with these two pens, and they had absolutely no issues whatsoever. They are both a joy and an inspiration to write with.
The Pelikan had the same characteristics as my M805 - imparts precision, reliability and consistency. 'Germanic', I might say. This all business feel was balanced by the exuberantly colorful resin body.
The Sailor Naginata, however, is special. It lays down generous amounts of ink on paper, has a springy feel and more nuanced strokes, and... wow... it is extraordinarily... exceptionally... preternaturally..... creamy smooth !!! If a nib could be made out of teflon, this may be it.
Thanks again so much for the opportunity to own these pens which will join my favorites....
Best Regards,
Jess Ramos (3/11/06)

Hello Los Angeles,
my bb-stub nib arrived today in Lueneburg and everything is perfect. What a nib and what a fantastic customizing.
Thank you very much for this work and I know that I will never be able to write with a factory nib again.
Best,
Stefan Strotzer (3/15/06)

The Paragon just arrived! I was having a hard time concentrating on work in anticipation of its arrival and now, I'm going to have a hard time concentrating because I'd rather write with my pen. I'll just keep it here by the computer and use it to motivate me to hurry and get my work done today. It writes wonderfully and I am so, so pleased finally to have my very own, customized-just-for-me,John Mottishaw nib. Thanks to all three of you for making this such a wonderful experience.... Thanks again. Hope to be in touch again before too long.
Elaine Mc (3/15/06)

Dear John & Pat-
I received the new pen (and the modified 800 nib) several days ago... sorry it took so long to get back to you. The good news is that this has given me plenty of time to try out both the "Piccadilly" pen AND the modified 800 nib; and they perform exactly as I requested. They are an absolute joy to write with, and (although I have to "slow down" a bit) result in beautiful strokes applied to paper... particularly for my rather utilitarian style of "life-long-engineer-printing" ;-) Once again, thanks for supplying a wonderful product, with very rapid turnaround!
(ps: it was a particular joy to find that "feel" of the nibs was so similar, and that they matched the modified Parker nib I showed you so well. Thanks!)
David Gerhardt (2/28/06)

Hi Pat / John
Received package today (actually arrived last Tuesday but I was away). Anyway used it all day today and I am VERY satisfied with its performance. Great job, John, as always !! I know this was not an easy nib to repair.
With kindest regards
John Wilson (3/3/06)

Hi Pat, John and Danielle,
Thank you for the great service and fantastic nibs John custom ground for my Pelikan pens. I use these pens every day for ink drawing as well as lettering and writing. I feel like a kid with a new bicycle! The fine, flexible nib gives me the fine detail for my drawings and the italic doublewide makes writing and lettering a joy!... Again, thank you for your help and service.
Sincerely,
Jim Davis (2/18/06)

Thanks Pat! The Conklin arrived without a problem, and the adjustments are great. Smooth, nice shading, good wet line with even flow -- terrific, and worth every penny! Andrew (2/22/06)

Pat,
I received the Pelikan nib unit on Saturday the 18th. I installed the unit with no problems. The adjustment that John did on the nib is just right!
I am very appreciative of the service and products that Classic Fountain Pens provides. I will certainly recommend you to others.
Craig Edwards (2/26/06)

Dear All,
I have been remiss in writing to say how much I love my Grey Omas with personalized nib. Being
a lefty and a bit of a pen geek has meant many an ink-stained hand. No more. The flow is light
but always consistent. This pen has become my all the time pen. Thank you for a dedication rare
in a world built on more instead of better. I bow.
the rev. daniel richards (2/11/06)

Dear Pat,
Item number S-642 arrived in good condition this afternoon. I’m really glad the last customer didn’t like it. You won’t be seeing this PFM again until it needs service. So far, I’ve just tried it as a dip pen. If you could have someone e-mail me the filling instructions, I’d appreciate it. Could you also let me know the production dates for the PFM III? That’s right; I’m squeezing every last penny’s worth of service out of you. You must be accustomed to dealing with other hard-case customers besides me.
On another subject, something about our communications was nagging at me for days. It wasn’t until I went back over your e-mails that I realized what it was. You can punctuate. God, I bet you can make a subject and verb agree. I can’t tell you what a treat it is for me to deal with someone who can actually read and write. It’s so truly uncommon in this “communication age.”
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you again for your kindness and help.
Yours,
Bruce Brady (2/14/06)

Hello Pat,
... I must tell you that, after careful consideration of the nib work that you and your fellows did. .....
WELL, I COULDN'T POSSIBLY IN A MILLION YEARS BE MORE PLEASED !!!
It's wonderful!! The nib, (and my hand in its control) are a bit like wild colt - all over the place !!, BIG letters, small letters. HEAVY Weight, light weight. BUT - it can do it all, and just goes to show that writing like our ancestors did was mostly in getting the right tool for the job. It immediately gave me the weighted 'Spencerian' script that I had hoped for, with the tiny but reliable hairline... Now I am seduced, and have started to look at my pen collection with a jaundiced eye. What could be done with THIS specimen?? In the words of the Governator: ... "I'll be Back!" And again, thanks for a job well done, It was well worth waiting for!
John Dersom (2/16/06)

Pat, I've been using the nib (Ed: Pelikan M1000, Broad with 15 degree left oblique customization for his somewhat unusual Left-Handed writing style; please see our Left-Handed Writers Page, Photo #7) every day since I received it. I've got three full tanks of ink through it, and I'm pleased to report that I'm very happy with it. The flow, smoothness, reliability, and the character it lends to my writing make it a pleasure to use. Thanks for the great service.
Regards,
Steve Barnett (2/6/06)

Hi Pat,
The pens arrived yesterday, Yea! Hours of total distraction and blissfull writing. I can see the Falcon will take some taming, but we will have fun developing our relationship. Thank you for the input on the Pelikan italic nibs. I will get back to you once I have focused on what I want to accomplish with my next adventure. You all are making this dangerously simple.
Smiles, Shea (2/7/06)

Pat, The pen arrived today and I've been using it non-stop for taking my bar exam preparation notes. The pen writes beautifully despite my disgraceful penmanship. I could not be more please with this purchase. Thanks very much for taking the time to learn about my writing style, for adjusting the nib in accordance with my needs, and for the overall excellent customer service. I will certainly re-visit your website when I need (or want, really) a second pen, and I will gladly recommend your store to anyone who asks for a recommendation.
Best regards,
Alex (2/7/06)

Dear Danielle/John,
Sorry about the delay in responding to your delivery e-mail. The three pens you repaired for me arrived safely and I'm more than pleased!
These pens were given to me by a friend who didn't want them, my good fortune. I've used fountain pens since I was attending jr. high school and enjoy the pleasing way they write. Since I'm not a collector my only concern was that the pens function and I must say you did a superb job. Much to my delight my wife has absconded with pen #2 the Sheaffer Admiral. I've been trying to get her to find the joy of writing with a fountain pen for years. Thanks to you good folks it has finally happened!... Thanks again for putting these pens back in a useable condition!
Best regards,
Bill Lewis (2/9/06)

Hi Pat,
The pen that you just sold me (Ed: OMAS Paragon) is the most glorious writing instrument that I have ever written with in my life. The ink does not flow from the nib; it gushes and thus the nib dances across the page with the best line of any pen that I have ever written with. I will always use Aurora black ink in this new Omas.Thank you so much...
Craig Rimmerman (1/31/06)

Hi Pat...
The Duro has landed. Safe, well, and in immaculate writing condition. It writes better than the only "New" pen i ever use. A Montblanc Meisterstuck. Am amazing bit of work by your company.
thanks again, and i shall miss our mails
Neville Filar (2/1/06)

Afternoon Pat, Danielle, and John,
The nibs and pen arrived yesterday. They are perfect. The double-broad nib on the Pelikan M215 is truly awesome (especially so given how lousy the original nib was). It puts down a truly wonderful line. It is one of the smoothest pens I've ever used. Thank-you.
The VP medium left-oblique nib is equally wonderful. It does write with a wetter line than the regular medium. I've used it for most of today, and really like it. Again, thank-you.
For me, the best surprise is the broad left-oblique for my Pelikan M750. The original medium nib always wrote well enough, but it squeaked horribly. It never mattered what paper I used, nor what kind of ink - it always squeaked. I've tried the new nib out on every kind of paper I have — it writes like it's on glass; absolutely smooth, absolutely silent...
I'm going to go and enjoy these nibs. I'll figure out what I want to do with my Parker 75 before summer. Once I do, I'll be asking for your advice and assistance.
In the meantime, many thanks for all the work you've done for me. I'm really, really happy with everything. Anytime someone complains about a pen, I tell them I know someone who can make them very happy. Best wishes and take care,
Glenn Radde (2/1/06)

Hi Pat, I received my pen and spent today enjoying it!!
John's work was very good and on-target; the ink flow is just right and I believe he did narrow the nib a bit, which I also appreciate. The slower ink flow now allows me to use a much lighter touch and write at a slower, more comfortable speed, yet still achieve the finer line I was after. Please pass along my thanks to John! And thank you for the good communications and shipping!
Greg Hourt (1/17/06)

Pat and John – I just received my Vanishing Point and filled it with the Scrip ink. I’ve been writing with it and it’s perfect; just what I wanted. The recommendation to get the broad stub nib also was right on. Anything smaller, like my initial inclination to go with the medium nib, would have been smaller than I wanted. So, again, thanks for the great advice, service, and unbelievably prompt work and shipping. I’ll be back to you for all my pen needs.
Craig Campbell (1/20/06)

Hello, Just a note to let you know that I have been using the Balance that was ground to an XF and I am very pleased. I write very lightly and the pen is perfectly suited. Thanks for the quality work. Kelson (1/25/06)

Hi Pat:
I received the pen last night (Ed: OMAS Bronze Arco, Broad nib with our crisp cursive italic/rounded stub customization).... The pen's magnificent. It exceeds my highest hopes. Kudos to John. Given my original description of the kind or nib I wanted -- "between Propas and Yu"-- I'm amazed and pleased that he turned out something that fits my writing style so comfortably. The combination of the nib with the superb craftsmanship of the pen itself makes this one the pride of my collection....
All the best,
Gerry Berg (2/1/06)

Hi Pat,
I received the duofold and I am extremely happy. I had assumed that the XF nib would be sharp and, given my tendency to turn the nib a bit as I write, that I would end up not using this nib much and would instead swap out one of my other duofold nibs when I wanted to use this orange body. Wrong! The nib is very smooth and extremely tolerant of the angle at which it is held. John did a great job, and I thank you very much for your usual special treatment. This pen was a heck of a good deal.
Frankly, I would rather buy a used pen that you have looked over than a new pen!
Thanks, John Cullen (1/13/06)

Dear John,
I received my Pelikan Demonstrator (Anthracite) yesterday, and I just wanted you to know that it is wonderful. Thank you so much. My biggest pet peeve is new pens that don't work. I don't live anywhere near a pen shop, so trying them out ahead of time doesn't really work for me. Thank you so much for a pen that worked perfect right away. I truly appreciate it. It is also a beautiful pen. The gold nib is certainly worth the extra money, it is gorgeous.
Thanks again,
Mary Akre (1/13/06)

Pat, Danielle, and John:
My Pelikan M800 arrived about 45 minutes ago. I inked it up and have written several pages in my desk journal and a short note to my daughter.
If we were closer I'd kiss you! Well, maybe I'd just shake John's hand. It starts writing when it touches paper and I can't outrun it like I can my other pens....
Thanks so much for the wonderful pen and superb service.
Vernice Harrison (1/13/06)

Hi Pat, I hope your New Year is Happy!
I received the pen in good order, and am *very* pleased with it. Now that my hand has adapted, I find that I've got the pen I dreamed of for years. A perfect nib, and lots of ink! Thanks for all your help. Kind regards,
Steven Olson (1/5/06)

Dear Pat,
I received the pen with its new nib and I love it.... It now writes in the smooth italics I was originally looking for. Thank you for the help. Don't you just love the smooth flow of a Pelikan!
Best,
Lenny Dribinsky (1/8/06)

Dear Pat and John,
Both pens arrived safely yesterday, and, once again, they exceed expectations. Thank you very much for giving me a call to discuss the nib on the Gray 360. The width of the downstroke falls between my Omas medium stubs and Pelikan broad stubs, just as I had hoped it would. As such, it complements my other 360s very nicely, in physical appearance as well as the character of its line. I guess you must know what I need better than I do! Also, thank you for your excellent customer service in getting these done so quickly. It's always a pleasure doing business with you.
Best Regards,
Dave Shin (1/11/06)

Happy New Year, Pat!
Everything arrived safely and on time. I have been writing with the custom nib NONSTOP! I love theSailor pen, too, and will switch to that for variety as soon as I can tear myself away.

Thanks for the great service and the new way of contemplating pens. I love the modified nib concept! Someday maybe I'll try another. How could I resist with such great service and products this time around? ;)
Cheers,
Meg Wickwire (1/1/06)

Dear Ms. Ackor:
I got the nib for my Pelican pen. It works beautifully, and you all did a great job of tuning it (or whatever the term is). I bought some J. Herbin blue ink, and it works very well in this pen.
I look forward to doing business with you in the future.
Thank you
Robert Gruber (1/2/06)

Pat and Danielle,
I just wanted to let you know that I got the pen on Thursday, and it is excellent. This is the fine line I have been looking for. Finally something to use on all my moleskin journals without worrying! And I just love the flexibility of the nib. It's a pleasure to write with, and a pleasure to do business with you.
All the best for this year and the rest,
Dave Boyer(1/2/06)

Hi Pat,
Received the pens this afternoon. Both are just right ... when I buy from you the pens always write the way they should. Thanks for the quick service and have a Happy Holiday.
Vince Grosso (12/20/05)

John,
I just wanted to update you and let you know that I received the modified nib and absolutely love it! I haven't even picked up my other pens since it arrived. I have terrible writing, and this nib *almost* makes my handwriting elegant. Thanks again for all of your help.
Happy Holidays!
Best,
Rich (12/23/05)

The Paragon arrived today. I could hardly wait to get home and fill it with some Aurora black ink! This is my first stub nib and all I can say is that I may never write with a standard round tip again! Even my almost-illegible scibbling looks fancy and stylish. Thanks for steering me towards the broad nib over the medium. The OMAS "broad" is perfect for my writing style and is not noticeably thicker than my Pelikan "mediums"....
Thanks again,
Mike Philpott (12/12/05)

Hello Pat
First I want to tell you, that I am very satisfied with the Music-Nib of my Sailor 1911. It is hard to find a nib with such a strong line variation. The Ink Flow also is good. So I can tell you, that I am really satisfied with the pen I got from you....
Regards and my best wishes for christmas and a happy new year.
Hugo Giese (12/17/05)

Dear Pat,
The Pelikan flew into its home nest yesterday and, boy, does she ever skate like a princess on the pond of whatever pages I offer! John knew exactly the moves I wanted this Pelikan to be able to make and has done his usual superb job in making my writing life happier. Thanks and cheers and hurrahs all around.
The happiest of holidays to all of you at Classic Fountain Pens!!!!!!!!
Warmly,
Danny Marion (12/20/05)

Dear John.
Thanks so much for the repair job on my Parker 75. It writes more smoothly than new. I have used this pen for 35 years and have enjoyed it greatly, but other repairers offered no hope of fixing it correctly. I will now enjoy using it for many years to come.
Lyle West (12/05/05)

Dear Pat, Danielle and John,
Fantastic job. I must apologize for not writing sooner. The pens arrived late Friday afternoon, and I have been extremely preoccupied with the lunacy of life. I tried both nibs last night and found them wonderful. The writing experience is thoroughly enhanced, truly a great pleasure. The OMAS 360 no longer bleeds through my journal pages, and the line is distinctly that of an oblique fashioned nib! Armando Simoni would be quite proud, and I daresay wholeheartedly applaud your craftsmanship!... all the best, Harris Saltzburg (12/05/05)

Hello,
I recently received my Pelikan Stockholm. Wow! So this is what writing with a good fountain pen is all about. The adjusted nib is great and I'm left-handed to boot. Thanks so much for your courteous assistance and professionalism in guiding me through the purchasing and personalizing of my new pen. I'll be back for sure. The best to you all for the holiday season.
Sincerely,
Jim ODonnell (12/06/05)
Hi Pat,
Sure, you may use my message and name on your site as you choose. The testimonials are read by many of us potential customers and they made a difference when I was considering my order. It's good to see the positive feedback there. We all are quick to complain when we don't like something so it's great to see when folks respond to quality service as well. Thanks for such a positive experience.
Jim OD (12/06/05)

Thank you so much for all your help in choosing my first expensive fountain pen. I was looking all around and luckily stumbled upon your website. I was informed which pen would be the best for me and how you all would "fit" it to my particular writing style. I write quite a bit in my profession and the Pelikan Stockholm which I purchased is a remarkable joy to write with. Thank you again for such knowledge and assistance in my first serious foray into the world of fine writing instruments.
Ronnie Yeates (12/3/05)

Dear John,
My thanks to you for the fine repair work you did on my Omas Arco recently. When we met at the Ohio Pen Show, I left if with you with instructions to grind the nib to left oblique and add flexibility. What an amazing transformation you've worked on this nib--I loved this pen before your work, but now it's an entirely new experience to feel that springiness and watch those thick and thin lines swirl across the page. Magic, I would be tempted to say, but the truth is it was your incomparable skill and artistry in reshaping this nib for me that's made it all possible! You've made a great pen even better!
It was a pleasure to meet you and to talk with you at the show. I hope to see you again in the near future. Once more, thank you for the services you provide those of us who appreciate the capabilities of a great pen and nib.
Sincerely,
Danny Marion (11/23/05)

Hi Pat/John,
What can I say except I'm really delighted with the pens!-I'm beginning to think you guys must be magicians, love all the pens but the Ercolessi..oh boy I really believe this is the perfect pen for me..its just got everything now that I wanted, the colour from the ink and the flex..total joy! To think I actually had this on ebay at one stage..what a transformation.....!
Thanks for all you've done and all the time you took to get me sorted out,its been great dealing with you and I hope to again. If you guys were closer the beers would be on me....
Best Regards,
Liam Sinclair (11/23/05)

Dear Pat, I have been out of the country and so apologize for taking so long to get back to you. The Sailor 1911 pen arrived safely back in Nov. and is a delight to use. It has become instantly one of my favorites for writing. Thanks so much for your help. I've never before enjoyed
ordering a pen before so much. Have a joyous Christmas season!
Most sincerely,
Graham (11/30/05)

Dear Pat,
I finally retrieved the nibs from the post office. I must tell you that they are the smoothest nibs I can ever remember writing with. I just wanted to thank you for your help and the timeliness with which you processed my order. I will continue to be in touch.
David Frankel (11/15/05)

john and pat,
i am writing to tell you how happy i am with my pen. i am sure you have received many of these emails but i am truly stunned! it has given a man who has poor penmenship something to brag about. i love to write now more than ever. you should have seen my face when i finally figured out how much pressure, flow, and techinque i needed to write with this tool. made me so excited. this is a great product and i will be purchasing some more very soon for the holidays!
thank you for also being very friendly and helpful on the phone and through email. it makes a difference.
friend on the east coast,
yogi naraine (11/18/05)

John and Pat,
.... As for the nib repair that you did on my Ancora, you wrote "its never possible to return a damaged nib to exactly the way it wrote before." You were right. It writes much better now than it did before it was damaged.
Thanks for everything and stay well,
Alan Lew (11/22/05)

"Hi, I received my customized Pelikan cursive italic nib and have been using it for several days. Your suggestion to start with a medium nib to get a fine cursive italic was right on the money. The ink flow is ideal whether I write large (as I usually do) or small, as I do when making Daytimer entries. The appearance of the writing is exactly what I was hoping for,
The nib is perfect!
Thanks,
Bob Higgins"

Pat,
Received the pen – what a true delight! The Sailor 1911 is a truly fine writing instrument – I have never had an experience like this with any other fountain pen. Thank you very much for all your assistance. Have a great weekend!
All the best,
Ted Margison (11/4/05)

(Ed: this arrived as a hand-written note:) Dear Pat and John, Just received my Parker in the mail and am writing this Thank You note with it. Thank you again for a wonderful job and repair. My little Parker writes better than a new pen. The ink flow is perfect. With warm wishes and appreciation, Ra Scavelli (11/7/05)

Hello, Pat.

Please excuse my tardiness in writing to thank you and John for the wonderful work you did on the MB149 nib I sent a couple of weeks ago. It writes smoothly and easily, and is a real joy to use. The line laid down is distinctive but not too broad for regular use.
Thanks and all best wishes,
Fritz Kopeinig (11/7/05)

Dear Pat and John,
I received the Parker 51 on Wednesday. While I am still evaluating it; my first impression is that it is absolutely perfect. I started with an inspection under a loop; very nice. Then a look at the pen itself; good. I then drew up some fresh ink, flushed it out, and then filled it. I have chosen some new Waterman Florida Blue to use. The first try was a fantastic broad and bold line; beautiful. The ink flow is great. And smooth; now this is nice.
Thanks again,
Robb Swenson (10/27/05)

John, after having been away from the office for several days, just returned to find my pen. You are a wonder! I of course had quickly checked out the photos on your web site but they don't do justice to the magnificent repair job (Ed: Bob is the owner of the Sailor whose nib is shown on our Before & After page, second row down: http://www.nibs.com/beforeandafter.htm ) . Thank you so much for saving a great pen. You've certainly earned a customer and a reference for life.
Best regards!
Bob Little (10/31/05)

I’ve developed ‘finger strain’ since getting my new pen from you. I simply cannot put it down. I sometimes have trouble sleeping and I find that doing some light hearted text ‘doodling’ with my pen really helps me relax....
Thanks,
Howard (11/02/05)

Pat,
I received the Pilot VP nib unit in this afternoon's mail and have been using it for the past hour and a half. You have a very satisfied customer. Extremely smooth with quite nice line variation. No ink flow hesitancy. A winner. Thanks for all your help when I called.
Les Conner (10/25/05)

Dear Pat and John, I just received today your package with all the good things i asked, thanks very much. Everything is perfect. I hope soon contact with you for another order. Once again thank you very much.
Take care,
João Ramos (10/25/05)

Hi John,
The pens arrived today, and they are great, everything I expected. I do not know if you played with the nibs, but they seem excellent. The fine is fine enough for everyday use, but I would hope to have a chance to try the XF at some time in the future..... If this was an ebay purchase, your feedback would be Excellent++++ and Highly Recommended. Thanks again to you, Pat, and Danielle!!
Sincerely,
Dennis Stouffer (10/27/05)

Dear Pat,
We received the pens yesterday - everything's perr-fect. Thanks again!!
Antje Almeida (10/19/05)

Pat,
I found my Sailor waiting for me on the doorstep this evening... it writes beautifully! I had fun amusing myself all evening with it. I paid the electric bill in my finest script. Very cool looking.

It's been a pleasure dealing with you. Thanks for real great job on the nib. The cursive italic is just what I was looking for. I haven't mastered it just yet, but I'm sure my Christmas cards will be outstanding this year.

-Andre Vriesman (10/20/05)

The pen is here safe and sound. All I can say is WOW!!! You did a wonderful job. It really saddens me that the people at Mt Blanc could not repair their own product properly.
Again,Thanks for a job well done.
Bill Marr (10/10/05)

Well- I have broken the pens in and all I can say is wow!! They are perfect- both with different personalities but very nice to write with. Thanks to John for his hard work and willingness to do the needlepoints. I am another very satisfied customer
Warmest Regards
Rohit Talwani (10/11/05)

Just wanted you to know (somewhat belatedly) that the pen arrived and that I am absolutely delighted with the way it writes. As soon as my hectic pace slows a little, I have a couple of pens I would like to send to have "tweaked" to write as smoothly as the Pelikan you customized for me. Thanks so much. You greatly exceeded my expectations.
Glenn R. Padgett (10/11/05)

Pat,
Just back from extended travels. All pens arrived safely and work great. Amazing the reconstruction of the Dupont nib and the new iridium tip on the Dunn. The Sailor pens write beautifully and I am especially fond of the music nib ground to an OB which is a joy to use.
All the best,
Tom Hakes (10/2/05)

(Ed: this hand-written note arrived on 10/5/05) Dear John and Pat, I have spent about two weeks with the newest nib you made for me, and I must say this may be the best one ever. It is more flexible (thanks) and a little wetter than I expected. As a result, it is unsurpassingly soft and smooth, and a joy to write with. Thanks for all your help and wonderful service in my continuing effort to find that "perfect" pen. Regards, Larry Stone

Ed: this testimonial arrived as a written letter on 9/27/05: Dear Pat & John - I received my new M600 blue/black stripe today and love it! Thank you very much for the terrific pricing and workmanship. The extra flexibility has given this pen a wonderfil "feel" as I write. I am sure I will write through several bottles of ink with it! Barton

Pat,I think my e mail is working properly now. I received my falcon last Friday and it is brilliant. The only draw back is that I now have to save up and purchase some modified nibs for my Pelikan 800 and city pens. So that they at least write as well as the falcon. Once again thanks for your excellent service and although the postage was high I actuall got the pen the next day. Brilliant.
One more for the lefthanders.
Regards,
Bob Thomas, UK (9/29/05)

Ed: the following testimonial arrived as a written note: Dear Danielle, I am really enjoying the Pelikan 400 fountain pen, in fact it arrived just in time for an examine in which I had to write 50 pages 8 1/2 x 11 in less than a week. My pen is my primary writing tool, so it is all in ink. Never have I enjoyed using a pen as much as this one. I have a Parker Sonnet (in for repair), a Montblanc Traveler (too much flow), an inexpensive Lamy, two Sheaffer Targa's no longer used, an old Pelikan 200 still used but not for long periods of writing. I commend you for your patience and thoughtfulmess in our telephone conversation. I did find my Noodler's ink to be just too thick for my needs and at present will use up my Omas purple.
Thank you for your help,
Donald W. Dunn (9/16/05)

Pat,
Received shipment today and once again, the Mottishaw magic prevails. Very sweet. Thanks so much - this was worth waiting for.
Dave Burnette (9/20/05)

Pat,
I have used my new nib (Ed: a Pelikan M400 Fine customized to cursive italic; a very challenging point) for two days now and like it very much. It is smoother than my other one and, hence, easier to write with. I continue to be impressed with the fine level of service you and John provide along with the high quality product you produce. Thank you so much for getting this nib done so quickly and well. I look forward to many years of enjoying writing with it.
Take care,
Lance Andrewsen (9/22/05)

PAT AND DANIELLE,
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT I RECEIVED THE SAILOR PEN TUESDAY, AND TRIED IT OUT TODAY, WED. IT IS A GOOD WRITER AND I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH THE PEN AND YOUR EXCELLENT SERVICE.
THANKS, SO MUCH
MICHAEL MARLETTO (9/14/05)

Pat -- The pen arrived yesterday afternoon, to a most-pleased reception. She's been using it, and enjoying it, and adapting to the nib, and working on her craft -- in short, enjoying it a lot. You folks are just magicians, when it comes to taking a good pen and making it great -- a nice thing to behold (and a pleasure to do business with). And you can quote me on that! Best, Paul Starrs (9/14/05)

Pat,
The Pelikan arrived yesterday afternoon. WooHoo! Writing has not been this fun in a long time. The nib is EXACTLY what I wanted, yet lacked the words to articulate. This pen glides over paper with abandon, and playfully leaves a beautiful and expressive reminder of it's passing. Truthfully, this instrument exceeds my expectations.
Thanks again,
Matt Christian (9/15/05)

Dear Pat and John:
I received my Namiki Vanishing Point this morning with the cursive italic nib and it is wonderful. The touch and ink flow are just how I like them to be. The nib is not as flexible as my Omas Arco Celluloid but it is still very smooth and flowing. This will be perfect for an all around utilitarian pen to leave on my desk and much more satisfying to use than a rollerball.
You must be tired of all the accolades for your work but you certainly deserve all the compliments. Thanks for your help and quick service in filling my order.
Sincerely,
Michael Palis (8/18/05)

(Ed: the following arrived as a hand-written note) John and Co. - I just wanted to thank you for your work on my Namiki Falcon. I love it! You should have seen me when it came, it was like a kid in a candy store. It was truly a pleasure to do business with you and I can't wait to work with you again. Benjamin Sanda (8/24/05)

Pat, I got my Sailor 1911 "Colors" about a week ago (via FPO to Hong Kong). It is truly a wonderful pen. Wrote perfectly out of the box. I have tried many fountain pens and this is hands down the best I have used. Thank you for the great service and advice on the phone. I will recommend your shop to others and I hope to have a reason to be a customer of yours yet
again.
Dave Meale, Hong Kong (9/4/05)

Pat - I just wanted to say - thanks - you guys have done a truly magnificent job repairing my two pens - "skippy" and "leaky". These now write according to my personal specs and flow like rivers of beautiful ink - just the way I like it - I have found the joy of writing again with these heirloom instruments - I will tell all my frinds and associates about your great work - job well done and thanks so much - your customer for life ... regards, Bryan Berndt (8/11/05)

Hi Pat - the pen arrived... and its John's usual stellar work. He is making it hard to chose pens to carry every day: I used to have just one favorite. Now I want to carry every one that he works on. Speaking of which, I have a Namiki Vanishing Point with a fine point that I'd like modified like the other two. Is that possible with a nib that size? If so, I'm going to wait to send it in until I have two pens to send at once: seems like that will save on shipping/paperwork. Barring any pen epiphanies, I won't be getting another pen for at least another month or two. Please pass along my thanks to John. Natasha Jones (8/15/05)

Dear Pat,
The reconditioned Wahl-Eversharp desk pen with the stub nib arrived this afternoon. Fortunately, I was off today, and at home to receive the package. This is one sweet pen. Kudos to John for doing such an excellently job of mottinshawing this pen. It's a joy to behold and to use. The stub nib, which as you know by now I am so partial to, is like butter. Thank you for another masterpiece. Best regards, Rich Matthies (8/15/05)

Hi Pat, Sorry for the delayed reply. I received the pen a few weeks ago, but life has been a bit hectic since. I'm very happy with the look, feel, and writing characteristics of the Omas Vision, and have been using it happily since it arrived. Thank you for another pen to treasure and gain pleasure from using. Biro scribblers really don't know what they're missing!
Best regards, Steve Wood (8/18/05)

When I was in grammar school, I used to buy the cheap Schaeffer cartridge pens. No telling how many I went through. Not until I was in college and had an art history professor who wrote with a fountain pen did my interest renew. I bought a Schaeffer Targa and used that for a year or so. I got a nice Parker with a reversible nib (med on one side EF if you turn the pen over) from my parents for Christmas one year. This professor had the most beautiful handwriting I ever saw -- like calligraphy. And she always wrote with brown ink. I thought she had found a really nice calligraphy pen (I didn't know anything more that B - M - F and EF existed). I tried to get that same effect out of the Targa. Obviously that didn't go too far. Not too many years later, I laid my fountain pens aside.
I bought these 2 Pelikan M800's a couple of years back. I really love them. They totally renewed my interest in fountain pens again with a whole new level of satisfaction. That's when I learned that oblique points existed. I got one and was disappointed that it didn't produce that same effect I had observed 28 years ago in my professor's handwriting.
After 28 years ... now I've got it! Sweet, very sweet!
I'm really pleased. It was well worth the 4 month wait. (By the way, the nibs arrived a day early on Wednesday.)
T
hanks so much for fixing me up. I really appreciate it. W.F.W. (8/4/05)

Omas arrived. John is incredible. The nib is fantastic. Inked it up with Diamine Presidential Blue and have been writing ever since. I will drop a more formal thank you note in the mail later today. Thank you for the superb work -- well worth every penny.
Matt Jacober 8/5/05

Pat,
The cursive italic nib on this pen is almost enough to make me give up vintage flexible nibs. John did a great job. The line variation is remarkable and the ink flow is perfect for me. Please let John know how happy I am with his work.
Best,
jeff kantor (8/8/05)

(Ed: this testimonial arrived in a hand-written letter) Pat, Thank you so much for all of your help. My extra-fine extra-flexible Namiki Falcon arrived yesterday, just as promised. I could not possibly be any happier. The ink flow is very consistent even when applying almost no pressure on the nib. Although I do not currently practice Spencerian writing I do appreciate the very distinctive appearance it gives to my writing, whether penning a letter to a friend or taking notes at work. This nib does it all.
I found your web site quite by accident. I am a very loyal shopper and was quite concerned because I was no longer able to purchase from my usual shop. I was instantly put at ease by your willingness to answer my questions and your enthusiasm regarding the topic of fountain pens. I can now say that you are my shop of choice and look forward to many more purchases.
Thanks again for your assistance in selecting this exquisite pen.
Warm regards,
Tim Valley (8/11/05)

Hi Pat, The pen returned home today. I am happy to say that it is not better, it is perfect! Amazing, truely amazing. Thank you all so very much. Chris Burton (7/29/05)

Dear Pat,
I received my nibs on Friday afternnon. I installed them. I wrote with them. They are like old friends at the tip of my fingers. I thank you so much. Here, now, is the commentary. The formal italic is very much what I expected. (I should be handwriting this note.) The M1000, which is a crisp cursive, I wish were the formal italic. However, this is rather greedy of me because I use that pen with red so that I can mark up architectural drawings for others to change. It works more than perfectly for that task because of the combination of the softness of the nib and the relatively easier writng attendant to its non- formal nature. Of course, now I want an extra M1000 body for my other nib, but to be honest, my desire for writing implements knows no bounds. I am very glad that I have found you. Thank you again.
Best regards,
Steven Elmets (8/1/05)

Dear Pat: The pen arrived safely and writes beautifully. I am very pleased - the old Meisterstuck has never functioned so well. Please let John know that his work was successful and that I enjoyed talking with him. If he ever wants to know anything about straight razors, he can give me a call. But then again, a person can afford only so many manias.....
Warm regards,
Miles Jacoby (8/4/05)

Pat,
The Parker Victory fountain pen arrived this morning. Such smooth writing! Yet another superb job. John's previous work on the nib of an old Parker 17 for me was just amazing - a joy to write with. Please pass on my thanks to John and my praise for his skills.
Regards,
Martin (7/28/05)

Pat, John, Danielle, I just wanted to thank you all for the continued excellent service. The two Omas Ogiva demonstrators that I recently purchased from you write so beautifully. The broad nib provides a superb ink flow and allows me to write with a beautiful line across the page. As you know, I am a huge fan of that Omas model (I hope so, given that you've sold me 4 of them!), but I am an even bigger fan of your professionalism, your courtesy, and your outstanding service. I will grade papers this coming academic year with more enthusiasm than usual given the pens that you have sold me....
Craig (7/29/05)

Hi Pat,
The pen returned home today. I am happy to say that it is not better, it is perfect! Amazing, truly amazing. Thank you all so very much.
Chris Burton (7/29/05)

Ed: the following arrived as a written letter: "Dear John, Apparently I'm about to write my first ever Dear John letter. (Hope you have a sense of humor.) As per your request this is to inform you that the pen has arrived safely. M600 with stub BB. I've received to my amazement exactly what I envisioned. I've never ordered a custom pen and was apprehensive that I ordered correctly. Everything is perfect! I will definitely be ordering another in the near future. Sincerely, J.A. LeFevre (8/1/05)

John and Pat,
The Omas arrived yesterday but did not get to our department office until after I left. After writing with it for oven an hour this morning, I am forced to take a break and use this short note to tell you how pleased I am. This modification is the seventh John has performed on my pens. Each time the result is better than the last, but this time John has outdone himself. The Omas will now become an every-day writer. Compliments received on my handwriting with pens John has perfected are passed on with my reply, “It’s all in the pen.” They would believe me if they compared it to my ball-point scribbling. Thanks again for your fine work.
Don R. Robinson (7/26/05)

I have the pen, and it is FANTASTIC! (Ed: Pelikan M605)
Yasho Lahiri (7/28/05)

Dear John and Pat,

The two Namiki's arrived this morning to my great delight. Its hard to say which one I'm more excited about. I deliberated long and hard about whether or not to spend the extra money on the Raden rather than one of the carbonesque models, but as soon as I saw it, I knew I had done the right thing. What an exquisite pen. Greg was right; you can see flecks of the nebulae in the finish. And this is to say nothing of the nib which is exactly what I wanted-- a wonderfully smooth stub nib that adds loads of character to my rather drab and inadequate hand. And the Falcon is wonderful too. It does remind me of several of the vintage flexible nibs I own, but its much smoother and easier to control. Anyway, these are just my first excited impressions. Thanks again for these wonderful pens.

Pat and John:
So this is what all the fuss is about ; I feel like a member of a very elite club ( not an elite member, however), that I happened to join by happenstance, only to wonder why with much regret that I did not do so long before now. The pen is a traditional beauty, and with the seamlessly ground
cursive italic nib working in conjunction with the smooth flow of a Pelikan, my handwriting is beginning to look much and much less like most of the signatures on the Declaration of Independence. There is something about being armed with a pen that has been perfectly tuned for me, that is both empowering, liberating, and challenging, that leaves me looking for excuses
to write notes, memos, letters, anything. I love the feeling that there is fusion of my ideas with ink and paper channeled through the nib. Thanks for the pen and the wonders you have done with it. In comparison to what I got , the purchase price was a small pittance for admission, and no,
I would not have said this were it not completely true. Michael (7/10/05)

Dear Pat,
The EF nib unit for my Waterman Le Mans 200 arrived safely last week, and I must say it is beautiful. I find it hard to believe this is a reconditioned nib because it looks flawless. It really is a pleasure to write with and has breathed new life into this favourite pen. Thank you for your assistance recently, and I'll certainly spread the word amongst my friends on your companies remarkable workmanship. Over eleven thousand kilometres between us, but it felt like being helped from next door. Stephen Walker (7/13/05)

Dear Danielle/Pat:
All the pens arrived safely. As always, John has done an outstanding job on these writing instruments. The 'new' body on the Parker 51 is indistinguishable from the original, the 61 writes wonderfully as does the Sheaffer 'Selangor.'
I really appreciate John's mastery of his art. He has given new life to a pen that belonged to my mother, and she used throughout her teaching career. Now, and thanks to John, I shall be able to do likewise.
Thank you all, and my best regards,
Bill Senn (6/22/05)

Hi Pat, Just wanted to let you know that the Ogiva arrived last Thursday, and I could not be more pleased with it - beautiful to look at, and it writes perfectly. Thank you so much for the superb service, and I look forward to ordering my next pen from you.
Very best regards,
Garrett Kyle (6/27/05)

Dear Pat,
My first Paragon has arrived yesterday. I'm SO pleased with this. I'm enjoy writing with this. The pen is so beautiful & the nib is great! And I prefer the size & the weight balance of Paragon, too. So far this is the best I ever had except a little expensive to me, maybe you think it's reasonable, don't you? Next time in near future I will have another Omas with your Medium cursive italic nib, I think.
Thanks a lot,
Daisuke (6/27/05)

(Ed: the following is in reference to a Pelikan M620 Shanghai:)
It arrived. Its great! It met my expectations completely! Thank you. Bill (6/13/05)

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to let you know that since you straightened the tines and did your magic the pen has stopped leaking. Now it is PERFECT! I love it and now I see why its a little hard to use my Pelikan. Sigh....the italians really know how to make a great pen. Voila! Omas!
Thanks again!
Rik (6/13/05)

The pens arrived at my door today. They are exquisite, especially the maki-e (Ed: Namiki Yukari Morning Glory). It may be the most beautiful maki-e that I have been able to collect. There are few stores that carry that paerticular line of Namiki. I am certainly glad to have found yours. Your attention to the nibs is very much appreciated.
Thanks.
Oz (6/15/05)

Dear Pat, Got the pens. Fabulous! John's skills are just amazing! The oblique smoothness of the
Duofold is exactly as I wanted. Same goes for the crispness of the Waterman 56! Impressive too is how John was able to get the flow I wanted--not just the points! I am going to be enjoying these immensely... I am sure I will be back in touch with you when I come back from my travels in late fall. Have a great summer!
Konstantine (6/17/05)

Hi Pat, I received my Pelikan M700 Toledo with a BB-stub customization last week, and I absolutely love it. The nib is incredibly smooth and exhibits a very pronounced line-width variation that truly imbues my
handwriting with character. Coupled with the intricately beautiful, yet understated, Toledo craftsmanship, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for the excellent work-the phone consultation, the
securing of the last M700 Toledo from your distributor, and, of course, the one-of-a-kind nib modification!
Best Regards, Dave (6/17/04)

Hi Pat,
I received the Pilot Namiki nib you customized for me. I love it! I neverliked the original nib that came with the pen. As you know I tried to modify it myself to no avail! This new nib will make all writing more enjoyable! I might even look forward to scribing the grocery list now....Thank you so very much.
Sondra Edwards (6/8/05)

I received the pen today. I have to say that it writes soooo much better than before. Thanks very much for your good work. I always loved the looks of this pen but avoided it because it did not write well. Now that you have done your magic on it, I'm sure it will become one of
my favorites.
Kai Larson (6/10/05)

Pat & John,
Sorry it has taken me a while to confirm receipt of my Patrician. Just wanted to let you know there is a 100% improvement in the way this pen performs, and I am very happy with the results. From this point on, I'll send all my repairs to you. Thanks,
Ray Brunger (6/10/05)

Hi Pat and John,
My MontBlanc arrived safe and sound. That is a great job. The nib works well and the ink flow is just right. Thank you for your excellent service and workmanship. My family and friends were pleased to hear that the pen is now "out of the hospital" and has made a full recovery.
With best regards,
Richard Tobin, Ph.D. (6/10/05)

Dear Pat,
I got the package this morning. Thank you very much for everything. The pen and nib work very well. I am very happy. your works are excellent.
Best regards,
Nam (6/12/05)

Hello Pat,
This is to report I received the nib unit for my Parker 75 today and now my "old trusty" writing companion is back in business!
I cannot find the words to describe how happy I am with my "new" pen. It writes beautifully and according to my specification. I am also overwhelmed with the speed, quality, and personal attention that are all a part of the service you give. I will certainly look first to your company should I require any further servicing on this or any other pen in my collection in the future!
Cheers,
Richard Kallio (6/8/05)

Hello Pat and John,
I just received the Omas pen back this afternoon and fired it up. IT'S PERECT!!! As usual, you folks did a great job. It's exactly what I expected. It writes like an Extra Fine and quite frankly, I did not notice too much of a compromise in smoothness.
Have a great Summer!
Tony Spina (6/9/05)

Hi Danielle:
I received the pen today in perfect shape. It writes exactly as I hoped it
would. Thank you and thank John.|
John M. Kelly (6/9/05)

John:
Beautifully done, as always. Many thanks - you are "The Man"
Gratefully,
Dr. Cohen (6/9/05)

Dear Danielle,... I wanted to say thanks again, in print, for the Omas Arco. I think somewhere among the testimonials on your web site someone is quoted as saying that the pen writes "like butter". That's something like the sensation I get when I write with mine. I remember having years ago several pens that I had all kinds of trouble with, mostly involving erratic ink flow, scratchy nibs, etc. I used to dream of pens that wrote as well as the Omas I ordered from you does.
Thanks again,
---Doug (5/31/05)
Hi Pat,
The Pelikan (Ed: M1050) arrived on Monday, and I tried it out that evening. It is great---a nice fine line, and very smooth. I am delighted with the pen. It's even more impressive-looking than I thought it would be, too. I do a lot of writing at home so both this one and the Arco are being used a lot every day. I carry the Arco around sometimes, but never the Pelikan---it looks too formidable! Thanks again for all the great work.
---Doug (6/8/05)

The Aurora Optima arrived on Friday, and I've been using it ever since. I'm happy to tell you (though hardly surprised!) that the ink flow stoppages are a thing of the past. What's more, John
obviously paid close attention to my writing samples, because the pen now has the exact flow characteristics I was hoping for. It's a very sweet writer that will become one of my most-used pens. Add in delivery well ahead of schedule, a great price, and your attentive service -- once again, I'm a VERY satisfied customer. Thanks so much!....
Til the next time,
Carl Distefano (5/31/05)

Dear Pat,
Firstly I would like to tell you that the book has arrived (Ed: signed/numbered Pelikan). Secondly thank you so so much. I am speechless myself regarding the book. I think that it will be a fantastic gift for my husbands birthday, he has a little obession when it comes to Pelikan Fountain Pens. I will keep my eyes peeled open, and I might buy his next gift from you again as I had an excellent transaction with your company. Thank you for the exceptional customer service you provided and the communiation was excellent.
Thank you once again,
Edyta (6/1/05)

Hi Pat,
You and John out did yourselves again! The nib on this little Omas Dama is a real dream to write with. I used to cringe when I picked up this pen due to having such negative writing experiences with it before I sent it to John. I'm enjoying it so much now that I will use it tonight to catch up on all the letters I owe people. And guess what--it arrived exactly on my birthday. Great job on the nib and great timing, too!
Laura in Fairbanks, AK (6/7/05)

Dear Pat and John:
I just received the Sailor King of Pen, and put it to test right away. HUGE nib (just right for my style of writing). And the nib is actually quite different from the cross emperor on the 1911 - larger, without the collector on top, with the cross slit sitting on, what appears to my untrained eye, seperate piece of tine - fascinating. Just dipped it into a bottle of ink, and wrote a full page with it.
And as far as the performance right out of the box, I have run out of superlatives for you folks - I just searched the thesaurus and found that I had indeed run out. So I will stick to fabulous. You already had a customer for life, but this just reinforces it.
Warm Regards
Moorthi (5/26/05)

Pat and John
The Caran D'Ache writes like a dream. Thanks for your professionalism and great craftsman/craftspersonship. I’m looking over the Pelikan M800. ( some day). I will keep in touch. Thanks again.
Mike Alter (5/27/05)

Dear Pat and John,
I have been using my Pelican Souveran with the new EF nib all day yesterday and this morning. John did (another) fantastic job: it writes exactly the way I like. Thank you both so much for your expertise and attention to detail. I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed writing with the pens that have passed through Classic Fountain Pens, especially this one.
Regards,
Al Vitter (5/28/05)

(Editor's Note: we received this testimonial as a hand-written letter): Dear John & Pat, Thank you so much for the new Pelikan pen (Ed: M250 Burgundy with a customized BB cursive italic nib). The nib works really well. Much better, even, than I expected. I am thrilled with its smoothness and the beautiful lines that it produces. There has been very little learning curve. Worked well right out of the box. Many thanks again. Yours sincerely, Jeremy Ransom (5/24/05)

The beautiful Sterling Silver Sailor 1911 pen arrived and is wonderful. It's beautiful! gorgeous! and so wonderfully smooth. The music nib is perfect. You steered me right on it. I thank you! Writing with the pen is so marvelous -- its "sweet spot" feels just as smooth as ice -- glides across the paper.

My handwriting has improved -- no more chicken scratch. The appearance of a mere grocery list just about knocked my husbanded over: "Look at those rr's, look at that t . . ." he said walking out the door grinning, amazed. Usually its "what's that word? I can't read this one either, . . ."
(Linda, 5/24/05)

Just incredible, I'm speechless. It might be my favorite Omas. I love Omas as you know and of the 6 I own, this may well be my favorite when all is said and done. John is incredible and so are you. Your perfect record is intact.... (Ed: and then, in response to a request for permission to quote:) Absolutely, anytime, John and you have the highest recommendation I can give. Really, the work you do is like a walk through one of the finest Art Museums. Nothing short of incredible. Best, Mike (5/25/05)

(Ed.Note: we received this testimonial as a note written with the subject pen/customization) Hi John & Pat: I owe you a major apology. My initial impressions of this Pelikan 250, Oblique flex pen were harsh and unfavourable. I'd never used one before and it seemed scratchy and delicate. Pat, you were very patient with me and our mutual friend Danny Marion was a great help in guiding my understanding. Let's just say that in two weeks of using this pen I have become a convert! I've already filled it twice and I can scarcely resist the urge to keep writing. IT IS THAT PLEASUREABLE! Your assessment of what pen would best suit my hand is spot-on! I won't hesitate to send you other, more pedestrian, pens for modification. This is bliss! I've never had a pen that so beckoned me to the page. Not only have you made the process of writing fun but by writing more I will lift my creative game to the next level. Put THAT in you testimonials! Thanks again! Morgan McArthur

Hi Pat! ... the pens arrived safely on Friday and as always they were more than I could have expected. I couldn’t put the demonstrator down all weekend... As for John’s actual work, it just seems to get better and better, and I feel privileged to be able to write with these pens. The Right Oblique nib for the demonstrator is a particular success—you may convert me to the 14K religion yet! As I surmised, it’s really the perfect pen for my Moleskine. I should really do some sort of ad campaign on that, shouldn’t I? Anyway, apologies again for the belated but enthusiastic thanks and you know I’ll be in touch as my circumstances permit!
Best to all,
Jim Cappio (5/19/05)

Danielle,
I've been using the Bronze Arco for about a month. It's gotten a number of comments from the other fountain pen users at work. I'm quite happy with both the look of the pen and how smoothly it writes. If you do come across a "medium-sized" Bronze Arco, let me know as I would consider purchasing one with a slightly smaller pen body. Thanks again for a fantastic pen!
Bruce (5/16/05)

Hi John,
I just returned from vacation thus the delay in answering you,but the package was awaiting me. Today I pened it and tried the pen. It was exactly what I was hoping for, both in its writing ability with an extrafine nib as well as the repaired filling mechanism which works beautifully. So in short
I'm thrilled with the pen and congratulate you on the workmanship--the best I've seen from any repairman.
Best regards,
Burt (5/4/05)

Parker 51 Pen RECEIVED-WOW
Pat, John, it is as you said, I fell in love at first use. It is marvelous, ultra velvet smooth with
spectacular ink flow. Almost fluid. Very beautiful looking. I will enjoy using this pen at work to do my Lab entries. Regards of the highest magnitude to you and John,
Warmest,
Andy (5/6/05)

Dear Pat,
The Ercolessi arrived today and I am very happy with the results. John got exactly the width I wanted in the nib while maintaining a smooth feel and an even flow of ink. It was like he read my mind... Thank you again for doing such great work on my pen. I can see why you were recommended to me. I hope we have the chance to do business together again. Until then, best wishes with all of your projects.
Carl (5/12/05)

John and Pat,
I received the pens, books... in good order.
I have the Gaudi in my pocket today.
Thanks for all of your help. In the words of your esteemed Governor "I'll be back!"
Regards,
David (4/27/05)

Dear John, Pat,
The pen arrived safely on Monday. I am very pleased with the adjustment; I feel that the nib has
been adjusted to exactly what I had imagined-slightly more flexible than my M800.
Thank you very much for the wonderful work.It makes me want to send you more pens for the adjustment. It is seriously addictive.
Have a nice weekend!
Tetsu (4/29/05)

Pat,
Just wanted to tell you about my experience with the new Omas Bronze Arco. First off, I am extremely pleased. I have purchased many fine writing instruments in the past, but never one that had been inked and tested prior to shipping. There have been bad experiences, and I can't tell you how comforting it was to have an expert test it out first. You may have spoiled me for buying pens anywhere else.
The Arco writes beutifully. I have had a busy week seeing patients, so the pen has had a good trial. I found that Private reserve black velvet ink (despite its reputation as having good flow) seemed to slow the pen down. But switching over to Aurora Black made all the difference. I haven't skipped a line since and it write's beyond my expectations.
I wanted to say thanks. Your thoughtful questions about my writing preferences were spot on, and you delivered a pen that functions exactly as I would want.
I am sure I will be speaking with you again about other pens!
Sincerely,
James (5/3/05)

Hi Pat,
So, how can I describe this new nib of mine? On this blustery ? spring day, what comes to mind is noon on any day in the middle of August, a bright hot shining sun and a tall, cool drink of water or tea with some ice cubes after walking for a few hours or working outdoors. It's that satisfying, complete with a smile and ahhhhhhhhhh, especially after its failed fine/scratchy predecessor.
Thanks again to you and John, until next time.
Elliot (4/22/05)

Dear Pat,
Just got the pen. The nib is fantastic! Fabulous! Up to now, I've always been a bit unsure about my nibs. This one is just perfect! It seems I finally figured out the right combination of features--thickness, line variation, flexibility, flow. Thank you for helping me determine what I actually want my nibs to be! If you keep a file on me, please record the parameters of this nib in it as I envision sending more pens to you for alteration.
Thank you, guys, very much!
K. (4/22/05)

Got it today. I would never have believed that such a good result was possible, given the mangled piece of junk I sent you. Thanks! D. (4/25/05)

Dear Pat and John,
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you and thank you!
I'm so very happy with the results! I just got them from UPS, two hours ago and have been playing with my babies' since then... John, you are truly a genius and you'll never know how deeply this has affected me! When you do a job, you do it RIGHT!... John, from now on when I can afford it I will be sending you more pens and I want to thank you again for the magnificent job you did with my pens!
Dennis (4/14/05)

Hi Pat,
I just had a chance to try the Nakayas that John fixed. PERFECT…. there is a huge improvement in my opinion. Now they write as I had originally expected from Nakaya.
Thanks again for the great service and great work. Looking forward to future business.
Sincerely,
Fran (4/21/05)

Good morning Pat,
The Pelikan 600 came yesterday and I have a new favorite pen. The double broad is soooo sweet. John must have worked some of his magic on the nib because it is perfection even by Pelikan standards. Pelikan is the Sovereign and Nibs.com is the Prime Minister!
Kind Regards, Loyd (4/22/05)

Pat/John/Danielle (in no hierarchical order at all),
I got my pens back today and was very pleased, of course. The retips are great and--best of all--you succeeded in retipping that HR Safety while absolutely preserving it's writing character! Not a great nib or a fancy pen, but one I love a lot. I guess it's all in a day's work for you, but very impressive to me!
Thanks again and be well,
Dan (4/5/05)

Dear Pat and John,
I received the package today and have been enjoying both the Waterman and the Pelikan. I'm absolutely happy with both. So happy I don't know which to use! I have decided to use the Pelikan for now, I do like its feel, its smoothness. But I like very much the needlepoint of the Waterman: very much like my old cheap and sharp steel nibs.
Thank you for everything.
--Gildas (4/7/05)

Hello All,
I just wanted to let you know that the Paragon arrived. Keep that writing sample on file! Like the other Omas pens I have purchased from you, this one is set up perfectly for my writing preference. In fact, I think in the future I will switch over to medium nibs now that I know they do not have to write like a flood. Thank you again. A customized pen makes the writing experience even more delightful than normal.
Regards, John Cullen (4/8/05)

Pat, John, et al.,
My little pen has been here for about an hour now. I just can't believe the difference nor can I say enough about how happy and enthusiastic you've made me. The guys at Fountain Pen Hospital are right -- you are the best!... David (3/22/05)

John, Pat, and Danielle: The 600 size nibs I ordered yesterday arrived today. It is with great regret that I find it difficult to describe their performance without resorting to what some might construe as hyperbole. To avoid excessive praise, I will say that others might find the medium stub to be extraordinary, but not me. I will have to call it acceptable. The flexible oblique can also be termed acceptable. Acceptable includes instant starting, smooth wet line with no skipping in response to my light touch. This, a coincidence I believe, meets my requirements. I hope this response will soften my careless use of such terms as wizard in past communications. After all, we don't want pen lovers to harbor outrageously high expectations!
Sincerely and with appreciation, George (3/23/05)

Hi Pat,
I am finally able to send you an e-mail after rejuvenating my computer. The Bologna Autunno arrived last Fri evening on schedule. Everything about it is outstanding! The color reminds me of golden birch and aspen leaves floating at different depths in fall water or of golden leaf litter on dark autumn ground – so enjoyable to rotate and admire in the light. The nib is exactly what I wanted – very smooth, good ink flow, and just the right definition of broad and fine lines. Thank you for recommending the broad nib altered to a cursive italic and thank John for his usual high quality technical and artistic work. I really appreciate your typical courteous, quick, expert service. I can’t imagine buying a pen from anyone but you folks. I’m already dreaming about another OMAS from you.
Best regards,
Dale (3/29/05)

Dear Pat, The pen arrived this morning! I was downstairs at lightspeed the minute I heard the doorbell go, and practically ripped it out of the postman's hands. It's gorgeous, and the nib is perfect - I've never written with anything specifically designed to fit my way of writing before, and I keep wondering why it feels so smooth and I'm not having to keep turning the pen around to get a better angle. I should be sending this as a proper, ink-on-paper letter to demonstrate, but I wanted to gush immediately, so e-mail it is. The only problem now is that you've spoiled me for uncustomised nibs (not to mention that, now I know what you can do, I'll be wanting to experiment with different kinds). Hey ho; there goes my bank balance...Thank you (and John, obviously!) so much for all your help, friendliness and craftsmanship; I can't remember the last time making a purchase was so much fun.
Regards,
Amanda (3/14/05)

Got the Nakaya, Pat, and it writes like a dream. I'm beginning to think there are only two types of fountain pens in this world: those touched by Mottishaw, and those not; and that the difference is absolutely everything.
Yours,
David (3/14/05)

Dear Pat:
I picked up the nib from the PO last evening, and have been using it since. I am running out of superlatives for John. I just learned that I really like using pens with light rather than medium pressure (Could you please update this in your database as well?) The nib has a nice flex and is fun to write with. I also found the Mont Blanc Tela color ink to be pleasure to use. And their stationary is superb. I have been trying MB and Clairfontaine and both are superb. I have also tried the 3B M1000 on Canson sketch sheets (50Lb stock) - the pen literally floats across the paper. So Stationary does make a difference huh....
Regards,
Moorthi (3/16/05)

Hi Pat, The Penol arrived today and I am more than happy with the it. The pen
is fantastic! Beautiful work.
much thanks,
Chris (3/9/05)

Dear Pat and John,
I just received the pen. And I don’t know if I can describe how happy I am with this Pelikan 800. I just filled it with some Amethyst ink and it just flows. This is my first cursive italic and I just love it. the line variations are just amazing. I thank you so much!!!...
Thanks again Guys, You’re the BEST
Felix (3/10/05)

Dear Pat & John, I received the pen on Tuesday and I've now been using it for a day and a half. It's better than I believed this pen could ever be and as good as my wildest dream! It writes exactly as I wanted it and it hasn't skipped once, not even after being left uncapped and unused for over
five minutes - simply a perfect writing instrument. With such reliability and pleasure of use, my productivity at work increased :-) Now I know what people mean by "mottishawed" pen.
Thank you, it was worth every penny!
-- Matteo (3/10/05)

Dear John, Danielle and Pat,
Thank you for the pen and its prompt shipment. It writes just grand! If anyone I know voices interest in fountain pens and the like, I shall most assuredly recommend them to you.
I wish you continued success.
Sincerely,
Louis (3/2/05)

Pat, Sorry to report that so far I am happy with the crooked stub Waterman. I will try again this weekend to fine some fault with it. Of course, I don't know what I am doing. But, as far as I can tell, it writes smoothly and in a reasonably attractive fashion despite my poor handwriting technique. I will feel compelled to improve my handwriting so as to be able to take advantage of the pens potential....
Thanks again,
David (3/4/05)

Dear Pat and John,
The Falcon flew into Provo yesterday, and I found it in my mailbox this morning. My first reaction is very positive: it makes a mark on the paper every time, with even the slightest touch. No need to coax this pen. I love the flexibility, which allows me variation in line. It is comfortable in the hand. The ink flow is even. I suspect that this pen will be the one I always carry with me. Don't worry, however, it won't keep me from acquiring further pens from you. I am very, very satisfied.
With kindest regards and appreciation,
Walter (3/5/05)

Dear Pat,
Last Friday I received the pens in perfect conditions. I'd like to emphasize the very good work done with the Hemingway's nib (it's very nice to feel its smooth writing touch, I love it).
Be sure you've got a new and happy customer...
Best regards,
Indalecio Gil (2/15/05)

Dear Pat,
Just a note to say that my pen arrived Fri afternoon. So firstly, thank you for the care in packaging it...I could tell it was packed with great care.
Also I would like to express my thanks to Danielle for her help and advice which added greatly to my whole experience of purchasing. It was a joy working with a professional!
I have just tried out the pen and so what to say? Hmmm...perfect is the only word. The choice of EF was the right choice and my requirement for a smooth flowing pen is perfectly met. What I also really enjoy about using this pen is that it is so light in physical weight.
Many many thanks to all,
Kenn (2/18/05)

Dear John and Pat:
The Namiki, Bamboo arrived today and it couldn't be better. It looks beautiful and writes smoothly with a very clear and crisp line. Once again I depended on you folks and you came through for me. Thank you both. I can't tell you how grateful I am that there are still good old fashioned, honest and competent artisans and technicians out there. You guys really provide a necessary and valuable service.
Best regards,
Joe Burruso (2/28/05)

I received the pens yesterday. I do not think a short e mail would do any justice to the pens or the service. The items were wonderfully packed, with layer after layer of protection (I almost felt like a kid opening a birthday present).
I immediately pounced on the Sailor 1911 with the Emperor Cross nib - OH MY GOD!!! There is only one way to describe the flow and writing - like a warm knife slicing through butter. So smooth, with an EXCELLENT ink flow. I started writing and have not kept the pen down. So much so that I have not even tried the Togi Emperor unit that you had sent along. The pen has a nice heft to it and the material just looks and feels luxurious.
As for the Pelikan M1000 - I have found the daily use pen of my dreams. I like heavy pens, and this is just about right for me. The nib is beautifully flexible, and just by varying the pressure a bit, I could vary the width of the up and down strokes, and my already decent handwriting looks like calligraphy.
And the best part of the experience is the service. I found dealing with you and Pat very very enjoyable. Both of you were very responsive, prompt, helpful, and pleasant. So much so that I am not buying another pen without talking to you first. And Kudos to Pat for her diligence (She returns e mails in the blink of an eye). Overall a very enjoyable experience.
Warm regards
Moorthi (2/14/05)

Dear Pat...
I received the pen in ship-shape order, which is appropriate for a Sailor 1911... It is prefect. Your advice was spot-on, and the pen, loaded with red ink, is now my preferred instrument of torture for correcting my students' essays...!
Many thanks once again for all your help, and more importantly for all your (correct) advice...
Regards,
Lorcan (2/15/05)

. received package. problem is that only once in a lifetime will i need a nib.and only once in a lifetime will i be able to deal with such an effient firm as yours. bottom line is that i should live more than one life! thank you.
james schilt (2/4/05)

Pat,
I received my Nib today in mail. I promptly filled the pen and it was ready to go right away. Wow! What a difference. I used light pressure and that felt great. Thanks so much for saving this pen. It was never this good even when I first got it.
You are the best!
Todd McNeilage (2/7/05)

Dear Pat and John,
I have just received the Pelikan M400 Tortoiseshell and it is even more gorgeous than I could have imagined; and, what to say about the re-ground OB nib? Well, it’s wonderful: it writes really smoothly and with a very defined line width variation.
I do appreciate your advice, the fine work with the nib and, specially, your excellent customer care. I have to say this has been one my best “customer-experiences” and I will surely repeat it.
Best regards from Spain.
Alfonso Cossío (2/7/05)

Dear Pat, I received the lovely Sailor koi pen yesterday and it meets my expectations perfectly! The beautiful shape is hard to image until you see it in person. I know my husband will love it!

Thanks so much for all of the care you took in discussing pens with me and in arranging the best
shipping schedule for me. Not only are you folks consummate professionals, but you also offer
exceptional customer service. Thanks again to John for tweaking to perfection the little Pelikan I purchased earlier....

Warmest regards,
Neta (2/3/05)

Pat;
Got my pen back and it writes superbly. It's well worth the extra expense to get this level of performance. Thanks.

Ned Wolfe (2/3/05)

Dear Pat, Thank you so much for the VP nib unit. The bold stub is smoother than I expected and really enhances my otherwise awful writing. My thanks go to you and Danielle for a delightful and personal customer service experience. Please give my regards to John for creating such a fine product. I'm sure I'll be in contact again in the near future.
Sincerely,
Jamie Molaison (2/4/05)

Hi Pat, yes it arrived safely yesterday. Although I bought it on the spur of the moment, and would normally never have considered spending so much on a pen (Ed: Pelikan M400 White Tortoise), I'm absolutely thrilled! It is a really lovely piece, and it writes like it's always belonged to me. I think I may become a serious collector...
All the Best
Kathy(1/29/05)

Pat,
The Wahl-Eversharp Signature (coral) and Streamline Parker Duofold (lapis) arrived today, and I am delighted. They both write as smoothly as when I sent them, both have perfect ink flow, and the welds are absolutely invisible...awesome!
Fountain pens are a joy--thank you for the joy you give to all of us.
Best wishes,
Bob Bernstein (2/2/05)

Pat and John-
I just received the Parker 75with the broad left oblique nib. The pen is beautiful and writes as smooth as butter. As always, many thanks for a wonderful pen.
Nick Marcantonio (2/3/05)

Hey Pat, Ok this is definitely a quote for the web site that you can post at your convenience:
The Pelikan M805 is the closet thing to heaven in a writing instrument this poor sinner is ever going to obtain”. As for the Black M805 – the minute you get one of them in – send me an invoice so I can approve it. Set it up exactly the same way you set up the blue one... Talk to you soon. And thanks again for providing a great service.
Jeff (1/25/05)

Dear Wizards,
Thank you for quick delivery of my recent order. The nib went in easily and gave me the style I’d always wanted. You’ve got me hooked; I want a nib like it for my Pelikan Shanghai (M6200?). Same address and billing…
David Barnes (1/25/05)

Hi Pat,
Pen arrived on time and is an outstanding writer out of the case -- whatever you did to "tune it up" certainly worked! Many thanks!
VR-Dave (1/26/05)

The pen arrived, and, as I anticipated, it is spectacular (Ed: Omas Celluloid Saft Green Hi-Tech). It is in fact a jewel as all the Omas celluloid pens are. Now if I can just hold off buying another for a little bit! Of course, the nib and ink flow are superb... fantastic. Thank you very much.
jg (9/16/05)

Ed: we received the following in a hand-written letter:
Dear Pat, Just a brief note to let you know (and show you) that the Pelikan 250 I ordered made it half way around the world and writes perfectly! Any concerns I had about it being too "wet" writing are confounded, even on the 3rd World paper we have here... I really appreciate your helpful advice in choosing the right pen and set up. It's rare to see that kind of customer service today... Sincerely, Randy (1/19/05)

Hey Pat, All I can say about the way this pen writes is “WOW!!”.
Thanks again for the attention you gave me during the order process.
I will be ordering again and soon.
I do have a question – do you have any of the Pelikan Soverãn M805’s in solid blue and black left? Thanks.
Jeff(1/19/05)

"Hi Pat!
Got the pen and love it! It feels and writes great. Just for curiosity sake I may have to send it in for a more flexible nib someday though. ;-)
Thanks for the wonderful service!...
Casey Schaefer (1/7/05)

John/Pat/Danielle,

I have been a Quality Assurance Specialist for the biggest part of my adult life. As part of my job I have researched the Quality Control Systems of many companies. The fountain pen industry, unfortunately, does not have a really good record for Quality Control. Even Pelikan, which has one of the best records of Quality Control, still has occasional problems which I have personally experienced before doing business with Classic Fountain Pen and John Mottishaw. Over the last year plus I have purchased a goodly number of fountain pens from John and crew. Each and every pen has functioned perfectly right out of the box. My new Omas Bronze Arco which I received yesterday afternoon is no exception. It is a beautiful pen and as usual the custom broad stub nib writes superbly right out of the box. I would never have purchased such a high end pen if I was not convinced that it would function perfectly. Thanks again John. I am looking forward to receiving my next order.

Sincerely,
Don Smith (1/14/05)

Dear Pat,
Let me first give you, John and Danielle my best wishes for New Year. I hope you will experience only happiness.
I am sorry for replying to you only now but when my pens arrived to the Netherlands I was already away for my Christmas holidays. I received the pens after my return.
I am very happy with both pens. The round stub nib of my new Pelikan 800 is really nice and is what I was hoping for. I am also very nicely surprised with the Sailor pen with the modified stub nib. It writes very smoothly with the amount of ink flow I like. Both pens give very nivce writing characteristics.
Thank you for this great job. Again!...
Kind regards,
Kasia(1/3/05)

Dear Pat, I have postponed writing you until I cannot find any other excuse not to tell you my experiences with the pen I ordered from Classic Fountain Pens. I still cannot believe how pleased I am with this simple purchase. This is the first custom nib I have ever owned but my experience with it makes me think it is an old friend I have had for years. I can only credit your responses to my needs and the fine work all of you do every day. I cannot be more pleased with my purchase and the customer service that has already been extended to me.
Good things,
Bill T. (1/4/05)

Hi Pat, The nib arrived this midday........and this is the first chance I have had to open the parcel......Why does everyone want their pen repaired for Christmas! I am most impressed with the postal service...however words fail me on the nib! Will WOW do!!. It is Fantastic!!...I know my customer will be over the moon! You could start a business with this talent!... I bow to your great service/efficiency and courteousness. It should be an inspiration to all businesses.Have a Great Festive Season, and I hope a healthy 2005. Looking forward to more future business with you... Trevor (12/16/04)

Dear Pat, I was in San Francisco for a few days, but as soon as I returned yesterday I found my Omas Arco. Today, I used it all day long, and the flow and smoothness are perfect. I want to thank you and John to make it possible for me to have two beautiful pens that are not only beautiful to look, not only a pleasure to write with, but dependable writer's tools.
Have a merry Christmas...
José (12/20/04)

Dear Pat:

The Sailor model 1911 F/M point arrived safely today and it is absolutely perfect! It's just what you promised on the phone and the custom adjustment gave me exactly what I wanted. Thank you -- I look forward to doing more business with you in the future!

David Budde (12/22/04)

Dear John, Pat and Company:

Once again you have delivered exactly what was promised. Although my previously-owned Montblanc 220 is about 30 years old, it looks "just out of the box" fresh and performs flawlessly. Thank you.

Tim Vaughan (12/23/04)

Hi Pat, WOW, the OMAS Bronze Arco arrived today. This isn’t just a fountain pen; it’s a functioning work of art. I couldn’t wait to fill it with the OMAS Roma 2000 Blue I’ve been hording for a special occasion. The crisp broad stub nib is amazing, thanks for the suggestion. As always John worked his magic with the nib customization. Thanks again for your great service. It’s such a pleasure dealing with you all.
Thanks much,
Francis (12/23/04)

Dear John and Pat,
I received two Namiki Falcons. I am very happy to have these two in my Falcon collection. Their extra flexible nibs are fascinating with each having its own distinct touch. I will long enjoy writing with them. Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Katsuhide (12/15/04)

Dear Pat,
I received the Falcon today. It is wonderful. I have been lightening up with all of my pens, and it makes a huge difference. Thanks again for all your help and good advice.
Kind regards.
David Forst (12/15/04)

Dear Pat: I just wanted to send you a note to say how much I love the Pelikan 600 with the Cursive Italic Nib. The pen fits like a glove and it's definately a keeper. I can see myself carrying this pen for years to come - which is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks again,
Jeff(12/04/04)

Dear Pat,
I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I have been enjoying my Omas Arco so much that I can't put it down to get to the computer.
Really, it is beautiful and the most smooth writing, best-sized nib I have to date. It delivers just the right amount of ink (better than my fine tips) and is not too broad (as some mediums seem to be) for my writing in hospital charts and my Day-Timer...
Thanks,
Stephen (12/04/04)

John,
Just wanted to let you know your package arrived today with the four pens you worked on, the Waterman 55, Swan twist fill, and the two Parker Seniors, flat top Jade Green and streamlined Burgundy and Black.
I also want to let you know how pleased I am with the results of your nib work, because without it, I would not have been able to enjoy any of them. It's like having 4 new pens to enjoy. The tips are incredibly smooth, and the ink flow is wonderful. I especially enjoy the two Parkers, and the Burgundy and Black is just my taste in width and ink flow. Thanks again for working your magic!
Lindsay (12/08/04)

Thank you for my customized Namiki Falcon! Its everything I'd hoped it would be! I just completed my first project with it and it was perfect--great line width variability without having to change pens or fuss with dip pens. You're right--crow quills and technical pens would still be necessary for the extremely fine or extremely wide (I'm not going to risk the nib by putting too much pressure on it) but it is much more responsive and yet easier to use than I expected. Its very smooth and never catches even on the upstroke. This is what I had always thought fountain pens should be like and yet had never found one! I'm going to send you my Waterman for customization but will wait til after Christmas to get on your waitng list. Thankyou also for your wonderful and clear communications and for your efficiency--I was amazed at how quickly my Namiki arrived! Thanks again! Karen Cleaver (11/28/04)

Hi Pat,

I have received this past weekend the bronze Omas Arco that John has modified to a stub. It is the most beautiful fountain pen I own and I appreciate the abundance of gold colors which show even under the dim lighting I work in. The ink flow is perfect even with Private Reserve blue ink which is pretty slow in my other pens. I love the alternance of smoothness and tooth of the stub nib. It makes for a quite addicitive writing experience and combined with the line variation it improves the looks of my hand writing beyond what I had thought possible.

I'd like to thank you both for this wonderful fountain pen. It has more than fullfilled my expectations and for the first time I feel like I have nothing more to desire in a fountain pen. I guess I have come across the holy grail of fountain pens, as some say, and I'm afraid it will turn out to be the last fountain pen I purchase for myself.

I'd also like to mention that your service and attention to detail is superior to what I have been used to. Quite, quite impressing in fact.

Gratefully yours,

Robert Raut(11/29/04)

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I have been traveling. The pens did come in and please tell John the work is perfect. They write exquisitely! Thanks much for your work. I will be sending more pens toward the end of the month.
Happy Holidays!
Tim (12/1/04)

Hello Pat, I received the Vanishing Point pen yesterday (far earlier than I expected), and have been using it at work all day, aswell as trying it out at home last night. I'm very impressed with the nib, it's a smooth writer, with a nice line width variation. I think it's everything I dared hoped for, and I have no doubt that the pen will be my daily user for some time. I find the VP quite comfortable to hold too, even with the unusually placed clip...
Best regards from a happy customer, have a great week,
Steve (11/15/04)

Dear Pat,
Thank you, thank you, thank you to you & John! I love the Pelikan--the weight, the length, the color. Most importantly, I love the way it writes--like a dream. The ink flows smoothly and the width differential looks lovely. The nib writes more smoothly than I expected. It's exactly what I wanted. I've thrown out all of my ballpoints and will only write with fountain pens from now on. Thank you again. I will recommend you to my friends.
All the best,
Susanna (11/19/04)

Pat & John: just to let you know we received the package on the 18th, and ever since Ward has been in ecstasy. The first thing he does every morning is go to his drawing table and write (play) with these pens, and then he gives me a lecture on why these pens are wonderful and forces me to admire them, even when I'm trying to make coffee or brush my teeth. I think he could not be happier and has probably already sent John a postcard expressing this.
xyz: Linnea (for Ward) (11/22/04)

Dear Pat and John,
The pen arrived in great shape, and is as much fun to write with as I'd hoped! Thanks so much for your work, and for the quick and attentive service.
Robert (11/23/04)

Dear Pat,
The order was received with joy. Both nibs turned out great and were well worth the wait. The older black barrel brushed metal cap Lamy was transformed into something quite wonderful. That was an Ebay purchase which I was thinking was a mistake until it returned in its new reincarnation. What a joy to use. Now with the Lamy 585 nib made into a smooth italic, the Accent is artistically accentuated.
Thank you for the usual excellent workmanship.
Best regards,
Rich Matthies (11/11/04)

Dear Pat and John,
I've had my two customized Pelikans for a few days, and I thought I'd send you a report. My blue-striped M600 is a worthy mate to the red-striped M600 I bought from you earlier this year. The blue-striper (which I didn't purchase from you) is now 100% reliable, and the skipping is totally
gone. These red and blue stablemates will be my workhorse pens.

The green-striped M800 is really something! The new Bold nib is smooth as silk, and the ink flow is just right. This is a wonderfully expressive nib, proving that line-width variation isn't everything when it comes to expressiveness. I thought this would be a pen for signatures only, but now that John has worked his magic with it, I can't put it down. Thank you, John!

And thank you, Pat, once again for your friendly and efficient service, and especially for helping me decide what to do with my underused M800. It couldn't have turned out better! Til next time,
Best regards,
Carl (11/12/04)

Dear Pat,
Sorry for the delay in writing to you - the pens arrived over a week ago and I am pleased to say that they are both marvellous ! The Pelikan is writing beautifully with Noodler's Ink and is handling my scribbling very well. Joanne is equally delighted with the Namiki Falcon and is using it in her Filofax where its fine line is needed.
Thanks again for the superb service.
Regards,
Faye Pearce (11/15/04)

Dear Pat,
The package arrived safely 2 days ago, impressive! Again, I am amazed by the high quality of the nibs each and everytime I write with them. The extra-flexible EF Pelikan nib is my current favourite and I'd find every opportunity to use it, even just for doodling. The nib adds subtle variations and actually makes my handwriting look much moreinteresting (at least to my eyes :) ). I haven't experienced much difficulties with this nib so far, probably because I use a light pressure on writing, and am enjoying the nice, soft feel when the nib glides across the page.

The VP EF point is the best extra-fine nib I've experienced so far. It produces a truely extra-fine line on paper while maintaing a fairly smooth feel. Most importantly, it doesn't skip.

Many thanks to you and John, and Danielle for your excellent work and service.
With Best Regards,
Celia Kuo (10/28/04)

(Ed: received as a hand written letter:) Thank you so much for exchanging the medium stub nib (for a Namiki Vanishing Point) to this Broad Left Oblique (BLOB :}) nib. It is working out great! I also like this black ink (Namiki Black) - I thought I was a blue ink only type of guy, but this is very nice to use.
I truly appreciate the quality and speed of service, products, and communication that I have had with you. I will definitely let others know how great it is to do business with you - and I dare say that most of them know this already. Best to you!
Brian Kim, Another Satisfied Customer (11/8/04)

Hello Pat: Just wanted you to know that the pen arrived a day late, but intact. I was amazed at the difference in the pen (Ed: Waterman's Serenite). This was a pen that I loved the look of, but hated to write with. After it was returned to Waterman twice for repairs that did not work any better, I almost gave it away. Now it writes exactly the way I want it to. Nice ink flow, a fine nib, just exactly what I ordered. Thanks so much for saving this for me.
Jon Ver Halen (11/8/04)

John, I received my red Pelikan 800 with its 14k medium oblique nib several days ago, and have been trying it out vigorously. You gave it a very nice ink flow so that the ink color is saturated and dense, as I was hoping it would be. I like the flexibility you gave it. It's taken me a while to get the hang of writing with it properly , so it shows the flair I was hoping to get into my handwriting. It's an inducement to make my penmanship worthy of the instrument!...
Best wishes,
Craig (10/17/04)

If it is possible - I think this nib is even smoother and a better writer than the original. I am extremely pleased!
Many Thanks!
Richard (10/18/04)

Pat: The nib arrived today, and works "perfectly." I'm suffering a classic case of "mixed emotions," because I've gotten used to the broad tip, and I really like the line it lays down. But---I confess---it's really easier to write with my old faithful fine point. So...at least I have a choice.
Thanks for your service...you can cite me as a reference!
Best, Bll Swain (10/18/04)

Hello Pat and John,
I've received all the pens and nibs from you and am very happy about them! The Pelikan nibs are good as usual and the Shanghai is brilliantly beautiful! The extra extra broad M800 stub takes some time to get uesd to-somehow I feel the sweet spot of the nib is quite different from others, nonetheless it is interesting and smooth. And the Omas Bronze Arco- is simply a graceful pen which I'm so happy to own.
Again thank you very much- you offered the best writing experience I've had so far.
Morgan Ching (10/20/04)

Pat, The pen arrived yesterday. I wrote with it for the first time this morning. Thank you for making it look and feel like new. The wait was worth it.
Best,
Jeff (10/12/04)

The Falcon has arrived. It's a great user, can write beautiful, charmful, so sensitive lines. What a suprise, of course, not because of my hand skill, you know. Every day I enjoy writing with it and am so satisfied with the conclusion. But I think "What should I do for my any other pens?"
Pelikan 100, 140? Montblanc 042? It seems I can't write with them without any modification after having a modified Falcon. They seem dull pens.... Anyway thank you so much for your help and please say hello and give my best wishes to John & Danielle.
I will look forward next purchase from you.
Best regards,
Daisuke (10/14/04)

Folks,
Just wanted to drop a line to let you know how much my wife is enjoying the new pen (Ed: Pelikan M250). It writes like a dream, silky smooth just as she wanted and was reasonably priced so that she doesn't feel queasy about just dropping it in a purse to carry and use all the time. The Pelican inks are also wonderful, she prefers the turquoise. It's a great color, close enough to blue so that it can be used in the office but different enough to be very distinctive. I am a college professor and have found the green to be a great color to use when grading papers as no student does their work in that color. Thanks for a great pen.
John Coker (10/15/04)

The Parker is beautiful - It looks just as I had imagined it would - not new, but a maintained vintage pen from the 60's. You did a great job on the oblique point - writes very smoothly, with just the right amount of shading to make my writing more distinctive.
I am very pleased with your talents and ability to keep your customers informed as to the progress of their pens. Thank you.
Alex (10/16/04)

Dear Pat,
I got the pen last Friday. As usual, its flawless. The nib has a little "feedback" which is typical of Pelikans. It is nice and light! This is now pen number 45 in my collection and the only one I will be using for a while.
It is great to know that there are still people who take pride in what they sell and provide such great service.
Warm Regards,
Jorge(10/4/04)

(Ed: received as a hand-written letter, dated 5 October 2004):
Dear John = Thank you for your diligent and successful work on my Omas 360. Comparing its current performance and line with the original shows me how great the improvement is. Your work has transformed a mediocre pen into an everyday star tool, so now I have the combination of the 360's beautifully designed body with a nib equal to my best dipping calligraphy pens. You've done me a great service for which I'm truly grateful! Best Wishes, Pamela Mullen

Danielle,
I received the nib (broad stub) for my Pelikan 400. This is the first stub I have had, and I love it. It writes beautifully so far, making even my handwriting look good. Well, at least more acceptable.
Tell John I said it was a job well done, and thank you.
Dale Hanks (10/8/04)

Hi Danielle,
I picked up the pens the other day and I love the way both of them write. What a difference John's skills make! Thanks so much for the great work.
Laura (10/11/04)

Just a quick note on the M600 I purchased from you early this past summer -- the more I write with it, the better it gets. No doubt something you've heard before! I was initially concerned that a Fine was not fine enough, but after switching from Parker Quink to Pelikan ink I am entirely happy with the fineness of the fine, smooth, wet line the fine nib provides. This is now the pen I am doing all my writing with -- a former favourite, a Parker Vacumatic, sits inkless (and cleaned out) as I convey this message.
Michael (9/23/04"

Hi Pat and John,
The nib just arrived and it is really wonderful. I can get line width modulation while keeping to a modest width, making it practical for my day-to-day writing needs—I have to write sometimes in small spaces and a wider nib would not work well. Still the range of expression is entirely new, as you can imagine, since I have only had the 18K fine nib till now.
The ink flow seems just right. I don’t get any skipping on the big loops in my signature, which I still had with my other nib even after I made a point to “lighten up” on the paper.
I’m really pleased with this whole transaction. Thanks again,
Jim (9/27/04)

Hi Pat:
Nib received and suitably awesome. Tell John that, just as ESPN says about Barry Bonds, the fact that his prowess continues to expand each passing year is simply terrifying.
Thanks again!
Will (9/29/04)

Dear Pat, John and Josh;
Thanks for the wonderful work you have done on this last batch of pens! They all came out in truely perfect shape and will be a joy for me to write with. Many, many thanks!
Steve (10/2/04)

Pat, I just received my Vanishing Point insert. Excellent packaging, super fast! Thanks for the material on pens, that was a nice addition. As for the broad stub nib, it was everything I was looking for but, nothing like I expected. As you may recall I was worried about the broad nib being too large, you convinced me that it wouldn't be once John cut it into a stub. You were so right!!! The nib is fantastic, it is exactly what I was looking for. The size and line variations are perfect for writing in my Moleskine journals. Now my handwriting (printing) has more flair!!! Thank you again for such personal service. I wish I was 18 again and just starting a career, I would be on my way to L.A. to beg for a place on your team as an apprentice. I hope you find that special person to learn this art... Thank you both again, it has been a wonderful pleasure!!!
RIC (9/20/04)

Dear Pat,
All three are magnificent. I remember how they all wrote before I sent them, and there's a world of difference. Each one is now a pleasure to write with. They will now be going back into the rotation. Thank you so much.
Best wishes,
Bob Bernstein(9/20/04)

Hi Pat and John, of course!...
The PEN is delicious - beautiful, amazing, filled with Omas purple and tried that nib - John, You Have done IT Again!! Then put the Pelikan nib in my 800 green demo and as I have run out of
superlatives - It is great, just great, and just what I wanted - both are - so Kudos to you both again - once more!!! I have lost count now of how many pens I have bought from you, new and vintage, but not one has been a hint of disappointing - quite the opposite - so I remain one of your very happiest customers, and friends I hope!!...
Huge hugs,
Chris (9/22/04)

Hi Pat. The Omas just arrived and it's gorgeous - absolutely transformed. I hadn't realised just how flexible the nib was before. The flow is perfect too. Now that's the kind of nib you really need for a pen of that quality - the plain vanilla medium just didn't do it justice.
Fantastic. Thanks so much!
Best
KT (9/15/04)

Dear Pat,

I apologize for the delay but the move from Houston to Atlanta didn't leave me any chance to report back to you about the enhanced flex Pelikan nib you sent me. I received the nib Friday afternoon in Houston and tonight had my first opportunity to write with it here in Atlanta. What a pleasure! It meets all of my expectations. Thank you, John, everyone in your team so much for the excellent work and outstanding service.
Best wishes,
Elke (9/15/04)

I got the pen today. I love the pen. It writes great. The nib is the right width. I like the weight and balance. It is not scratchy (doing pretty good on the light touch I guess). It is stiffer than I was
expecting but I figure that that is the nature of the beast so I'm ok with it. I figure in a few days I'll be use to it. Thanks so much for your help in selecting just the right nib. You were the only folks I found who focused on the business end of the fountain pen.
Mat (9/16/04)

Pat and John,
I received my Namiki Falcon Friday and wanted to let you know that I am very happy with it. I spent way too much time and a lot of ink working with it this weekend. I am certainly no expert with fountain pens, but this oblique nib produces the best line control and feel of anything I have tried. I did find that it seemed to be a little easier to control the fine lines with Aurora ink than Namiki, but it was a subtle difference. I still think that I will probably send it back to you to add some flexibility in the nib, but I'm going to spend some more time with it first. Thanks for all of your help.
Regards,
Steven (9/13/04)

Pat,
I just wanted to take a moment and email you that I received the Sailor pen. It has one of the finest nibs of any pen in my "collection." Since I use all of my pens regularly, I know this one will get plenty of everyday use. I couldn't be more pleased. I would like to thank you for the wonderful
service and John for the terrific "set-up." Please keep me in mind when pens with such finely honed nibs come to your attention. I would almost always be interested.
Again, thanks.
Tom (9/13/04)

Hi Pat,
I received the pen last week, and, as always, your pre-purchase advice was spot-on. The 1000's flex makes it distinctly different from my two B-stub 800s, just enough to make it interesting. In other words, I am a very satisfied customer, which by now should come as no surprise!
Thanks again,
Dave (9/15/04)

Hi,
I get the nibs from Katia .... They are great Thank you !! For the moment i'm testing (daily use) the architect nib ... Nothing but news from a Happy man
Eric (9/1/04)
