The Sailor 1911 Black Luster fountain pen adds understated modern style to the flagship 1911 Full-Size Series. This writing instrument maintains the classic tapered shape and smooth 21k nibs for which Sailor is so well-known, yet adds unique design elements that complement both form and function.
Notice the specially weighted metallic gripping section, which complements the monochromatic, streamlined look and also adds to the balance for those who prefer a pen with a weightier gripping section. The gripping section is the ideal location to add extra weight to a fountain pen - many find this added heft where the thumb and finger meet leads to greater control and ease of writing.
Sailor has begun including the following notice with all pens sold with the Black Ion-Plated nib: "Please note the 21k solid gold nib on this pen is specially ion-plated to give the unique color. Only Sailor inks should be used with this pen to avoid damage to the nib plating. Any damage to the nib caused by the use of other branded inks, will not be covered under the Sailor standard warranty."
