Ordering Information

We sell new and pre-owned fountain pens at discount prices, along with ink, books, and accessories. We also provide nib customizations and repairs - see our Services Information Page for more information. We ship within the United States and internationally.

To place an order, call us at (323) 655-2641. We are here from 8:00 AM to 5:00 pm Pacific time, and you can also leave your information on our voice mail system. You can also e-mail us at sales@nibs.com, or use our fax order form.

Pen/nib sale orders, with or without customization, usually ship within 1-2 days. U.S. Customers have the choice of UPS Next Day, 2nd Day, 3rd Day and Ground, as well as U.S. Postal Priority or Postal Express. For our international customers we offer UPS Worldship, U.S. Postal Priority International or U.S. Postal Express International. Shipping addresses within the State of California are subject to sales tax.

Due to the high demand for John's services, our usual turnaround time for nib repairs and customizations on items not recently purchased from us is six months. We can expedite your order, which turns the work around in 1-2 weeks from the time it arrives in the shop.  This RUSH ORDER option is available for 100% of the cost.

To place a sales order, or have a pen repaired and/or customized, we will need the following information in order to put together an invoice for you:
1. Full Name
2. Shipping and billing addresses
3. Telephone number
4. What pen, with what size nib?
 
We also need your payment information:
You can call us at (323) 655-2641, use our fax order form, or send, in 2-3 separate emails, your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express information including:
1. Complete Card Number
2. Expiration Date
3. CVV Code (3 or 4-digit code located on the back of your card)
4. Name as it Appears on the Card
 
We never charge your card until after the work’s been done and we’re ready to send the pen home.
 
If you intend to send a check or money order, please let us know.
 
We do accept PayPal. Our PayPal address is: paypal@nibs.com. Please do not submit your payment upon receipt of the invoice. Please first approve the invoice with us. We ask for payment when the order is ready to ship. We will be in touch via email or telephone to let you know when it is ready to come home to you. Only then will we ask for payment.
 
To achieve the best possible result, we’re going to need more of your help.
Please take a minute and answer the following questions:
1. Do you use normal medium pressure or a light touch when writing? Or do you press down hard on a pen?
2. What kind of ink flow do you prefer? Do you like a dry pen or a juicy ink flow, or somewhere in between?
3. Are you left-handed? If you are a Leftie, are you over-writer or under-writer? Check out our Left-Handed Writers Page. Which picture most resembles the way you put pen to paper?
 
With all of this information, we will be able to create an invoice to send for your approval.
