This is a shape that can be described by pure geometry except that it is subtly more complex. In the end it is the eye and the hand that this shape most satisfies. The ten sided shape has another function. Because it is not round in cross section it is not likely to roll off a desk.
The flat surface of the end caps gleam with urushi lacquer finish.
Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen "kimono" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.
