Diana,

I just received my Piccolo back today, and it is perfect. The new nib would not have been better had I been side by side with John providing instructions.
I like this ever better than my Decapod so I am getting better at knowing what I want for my third Nakaya..

Thanks for the wonderful service.

Jonella,

The Venice Blue arrived today and is amazing! I thought the attached sample might be of interest.

I'm so pleased with the pen that I've decided to also purchase "Item #O-1352 OMAS Paragon" with the cursive italic point, if it's still available(?). All other order details will be as before.

Thanks gain for supplying a wonderful pen, and hoping you still have the other one,

All the best,

Paul Lloyd.

Hi guys,

Just a quick note to let you know I got the Pompeii red 1911 a day ago. Love the pen and the Naginata Togi nib, the flow is exactly how I like it, thanks. And the color is right on the money, that reddish/brown. It's the color you remember when you look at wall paintings of Pompeii, they nailed it. But my favorite detail is the section, made from the same stock as the pen. How easy it would have been to put on a Sailor stock black section instead of going the distance. Well done.

Thanks to everyone for the great service.

Dear John and Jonella,
I am writing this letter to tell you I have received my newly customized Pelikan pen today ,so quickly even to my standard. To my amazement, the pen shows much more line variation than the original nib with better ink flow. I just love it. I was bit reluctant at first to get it customized because I was not sure how it would turn out to be like. However, now I could say I really made a right decision to get it done. It was really worthwhile the effort and the money. Thank you all for the excellent service and craftsmanship you provided.

John,

It was great meeting you at the N.Y. Pen Show. I have now bought six Nakaya pens including your LE. They are all great. I have also bought two tea time pens and a few other Bexley pens that I just couldn't do without ?? The advice from the staff is always first rate and the service is always prompt. Your nib work is incredible. What else could anyone want from the west coast nibmeister? Thanks.

Danielle, Jonelle, et al….

Received my Namiki Falcon today! Way cool! I love it!
I’m new to the fountain pen world so it’s going to take a little time to get the feel…but…I love it already! Flexible nib is perfect for sketching!
Thanks for your friendly attitudes and prompt service!

Dear John,

I wanted to say thank you for answering my questions at the NYC Pen Show, and for your suggestions on what kind of nib would suit me best for my Nakaya heki-tamenuri Piccolo. It arrived today and it's simply a joy! The nib is perfect: smooth, broad where it should be, thin where it needs to be. I was a little afraid of such broad strokes from a pen, but not anymore.

I think it's fair to say that half of the worth of this pen is Nakaya's craftsmanship, and the other, you and your attentiveness, not to mention your work.

Thank you again!
Mia

Dear John,

Just a quick note to say a big THANK YOU for customizing my Montblanc Fountain pen. It's a miracle. It is such a joy to draw with now, you have transformed it into the most wonderful tool, just the way I wanted it to be, truly amazing.

Thanks again.

Kind regards,

Uli Meyer

Hi Danielle

I'm just writing to let you know that the Decapod arrived safely today. It's a lovely pen to be sure, but nothing prepared me for the nib - simply fantastic and just what I was after - John's reputation is certainly well deserved. I can certainly see why people buy from you if it turns a good pen into a great one!

This certainly won't be the last pen I buy from you.

Many thanks

Dear Jonella
Dear John

My Nakaya arrived safely this morning. It is indeed a lovely pen.

Your nib exceeded my expectations; the writing is absolutely smooth and the difference between thick and thin lines bigger then expected which I like even better. I will have only to slighltly adjust inking which seems to be too generous for me.

Also, I appreciate the way you filled in the papers, so that the shipment did not get stuck with our customs.

Kind regards
Petr Hladký

September 23, 2009

Dear John, Jonella, Danielle,

I started writing with my lovely new (used) Blue Carbonesque Namiki Vanishing Point (fine point) almost immediately after having it my hands and have written and drawn a couple of pages since, on a variety of papers.

For a secondhand pen, it is in great condition and the nib that was tuned to my writing style by John is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. I was worried that a fine point might be too thin even though I have tried one out before. But after explaining to Danielle what I was looking for, I was so amazed that I got exactly what I asked for. Fine but not too dry, yet not too juicy. Just incredibly smooth and the right amount of ink flow to be used even on moleskine's thin temperamental pages. It both draws and writes like a dream so far.

The team at CFP is a joy to work with, treats their customers very well and such an incredible deal for all the little extras they are willing to do for you.

Thank you!
Amy

Hi John/Jonella

Received Stipula Novecento and new Aurora Talentum this morning.

The Stipula nib rework is superb. Smooth, free flowing with no hesitancy.
Previously it was like having a Porche with a VW engine, now it's the complete package with your signature CFP 'buttery glide'.
The Aurora medium stub is also a great nib. Compared to my other stubs it has its
own unique feel - smooth but with real feedback, great flow and line variation.

Thanks for the great work.

Regards

Robert.

I received my piccolo Friday from UPS. It looks great! I filled it up, and boy, is it a real fine nib. :) Started writing right away, nice and smooth. Thanks for making sure everything was OK.

Thanks for the great service in getting the pen to me,

Hi Jonella,

Just wanted to let you know that I received my pens on Wednesday, 9/2, and they are wonderful. They're even more beautiful than the pictures and they write like a dream. Since I've never used a Pelikan before and the instructions aren't really clear, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to fill them with ink. But I managed and I'm enjoying my pens immensely. The fine nib is perfect for me.

Thank you for all your help and patience with my questions. When I find other pens I want to buy, I'll definitely call you again.

Just a brief email to thank you for your very quick and very thorough repair of my Omas, which I handed off to you at the DC pen show. I received the pen back in the past few days and it writes beautifully. Thanks as always for such terrific help. Have a great vacation.

August 21, 2009

Dear John,
The repaired pen arrived yesterday, but I was out of town and didn't open it until this morning. What a perfect job you did! The pen is indistinguishable from when it was brand new. You were extremely fast, efficient, and about 2/3 the cost of an estimate from the mfgr. Thank you very much for your time and talents. I really appreciate your excellent work and especially the rush job you put on it. Hope to see you at the NYC show.
Thanks again very much. Best wishes,
Barry Gabay

Hello,

Just a wee note to say thanks for the work you did in putting together my Nakaya. It took a while to get through customs, but I finally got my hands on it last night. The nib is superb (much better than I am at writing!) and it's simply a gorgeous writing instrument. I would not hesitate to recommend you folks to anybody, and I already have a sneaky feeling I may be in touch again at some point not too far off!

Thanks again for your patience and help,

Ralf St. Clair

July 23, 2009

Jonella,

Thank you for your help with the Bexley "Mandarin Tea", it has been on me every waking hour since I got it last week & I love it. I had nearly sworn off modern fountain pens in favor of vintage, but this pen has changed my mind.

The design and proportions of this pen are very well thought out: generously sized without being too big, conversant with a few classic vintage pens and yet clearly modern. The mandarin yellow is a fantastic, rich color. But the nib is the best of all - thank you for divining from my rambling e-mail exactly what I was looking for: a free-flowing Fine with a little springiness. The pen has performed faultlessly and magnificently, and is the sturdy, practical user I was looking for.

Thank you for providing a great service.

July 20, 2009

Dear John and Jonella.

Having owned my pen now for over a month and a half, I feel I can give a better account of my impressions.

During this time, I have carried it with me constantly. I have finished two moleskines with it, slept beside it, signed receits, cleaned and filled it, I even - after careful consideration - brought it with me to the Roskilde music festival in Denmark, because I quite simply couldn't imagine being without it for almost a week. In short, it has shared all aspects of my life.

So, what sort of companion is the namiki falcon? In my honest opinion, the best you could ever wish for. The nib, converted to extra fine, is wondrously flexible. This does make it a little scratchy, but that is what I like. It can produce a variety of dynamic lines, and as a cartoonist, I have learned that the line a fountain pen produces best - the downward stroke - is not the one I generally use. I tend to use a sideways stroke more, which is more tricky to get right.

I have come to love this pen immensly. Instead of trying to make the pen do what i want, I am trying to learn from it what it can do, and how I can use that in my work. I have not touched my other pens for a long time, I have become addicted to the combination of the Namiki and a Moleskine sketchbook. If either company would go out of buisness, I would truly be in trouble.

Extraordinarily, this pen has, in a way, cured me of my desire for more fountain pens, because I truly believe I have found the perfect one, and I want to thank you all for your work and support that has helped me arrive at this conclusion. The next pen I purchase will, without a doubt be yet another Namiki Falcon, converted to extra fine.

Thank you

Ludvig Moritz

Just a quick note to tell you that my Omas Milord arrived today in perfect condition. It is a beautiful instrument and it writes with the most perfect smoothness I have ever experienced.

Jonella and Danielle, thanks so much for the time you spent on the phone with me, assuring that I would get exactly the right pen to replace my stolen Paragon.

Companies like yours restore faith in the virtues of small business. Keep up the good work.

HI Jonella,

Sorry it's taken a while to write back.

I want to thank you and John for the best customer service experience I've had in years. You were patient and responsive to my particular (some would say peculiar) needs.

The pens are writing almost identically and exceed all of my expectations.

Thank you again.

Best regards,

Jonella,

My pen arrived today! UPS Canada messed things up and it sat here in their system for almost a week and a half. But I was glad to get it today.
The pen is simply amazing in every way. It's even more than I had hoped for. The nib writes like a dream! Please express my pleasure and delight to John for his work.
Thank you for a truly pleasurable experience. You and all of the staff have been very kind and helpful throughout the entire process, and I'll look forward to doing business with you again.

Kindest regards,
Thorsten

Hey Jonella
Just a fast note to let you know that I’ve been writing with the pens you sent back to me for a few weeks, and I’m enjoying them tremendously. Both are significant improvements over when they were brand new. I have had no problems with the way the Visconti starts writing now, and the Aurora is now laying down a really nice, wet line. Flow really is everything – please thank John for his work to enable these pens perform at their best! I also appreciate his expert eye verifying the stability of the crack I saw in the other Visconti.

Hope you and your cohorts down there have a great holiday week/weekend. --Phil

Hi,
I received the pen on time a couple of weeks ago and it is a beauty and what a smooth, buttery nib. I am very happy with the purchase and enjoying it every moment. Such a wonderful pen and outstanding customer service are what makes this a great experience.
Thank you and keep up the good work,

Dear John and Jonella,

The Concerto arrived safely today. I know by reputation what you can do with a nib; and this one doesn’t disappoint. I love the italic BBB and the wet ink flow. It can keep up with all kinds of quick stroke. It’s a joy to write. Thanks again.

Best regards,

Hi Jonella-

The work done in the Caran d'Ache nib is great! That's it - any more adjectives would be redundant!
It is a very flexible nib, and that helps when writing cursive Italics. Congratulations to you and Mr. Mottishaw!

All my Best,
Luiz

Hi Jonella,

The pens are superb! The Tibaldi is like a new and different pen!! I really do like the line variation John did with the cursive italic. It is as smooth as butter with the variation that I prefer and like. My Bexley stub is greatly improved and performs as it should. This is like getting two new pens!!!

One note: My Tibaldi case did not accompany the pens. I had mailed the pens in it back in January. Hopefully you still can find it. Thank you for putting new life in two of my favorite pens. Best wishes.

I have received the package and have used the pen. The fine nib is exquisite. In my opinion, the Sailor nibs are the finest that I have used.
Thanks for your work.

April 28, 2009

Hi Jonella,

A quick follow-up. My pen arrived today in remarkably good time, in perfect condition.

I want to pass on my deep gratitude for your assistance in my purchase and the advice you gave in setting the pen up so expertly.

The Medium nib is excellent - it runs a slightly finer line than the Fine nibs on my Lamy 200 and Faber-Castell e-Motion pens. Your advice was spot-on although I am somewhat un-nerved about the difference between "Fine" and "Medium" nibs between different companies.

This pen really is an order of magnitude better than any I have had before. Even though it is a "base model". it is beautifully crafted. I can see why the Nakaya pens, and your company, are regarded so highly on the Fountain Pen Network where I did a lot of my research.

This experience has given me the confidence to look into purchasing a more expensive model, perhaps a Writer model, some time in the future.

Sincere thanks,

Garry Clearwater

April 17, 2009

Hi to everyone at Classic:
I don’t know whom I should thank, so I will thank everyone who had a part in this. I received the nibs that I asked for today. Just to refresh your memory. I had ordered several double broad nibs based on my preference in Parker 51 nibs, but the Pelikan BB and Parker 75 BB were too much for me. I have now tried both pens with their single broad nibs and I am very happy with both. Handwriting is personal and individualistic and there are no rights and wrongs as to what works well for one person and less well for another. Thank you for all your patience. In the end, I have pens that I will enjoy writing with.
Kind regards.

Murray Palevsky

April 9, 2009

Dear Jonella,
I received the pens today. Wow! The three Paragons are perfect. Each
one was perfect out of the box and a unique character. After a little practice, the cursive italic was producing very beautiful writing with lots of character. The other two are the definition of OMAS smooth. As for the Pelikan, pictures really does not do the pen justice. Amber tortoise is stunning. It will be perfect for the recipient.

Ricky

Hi John?/Jonella,
Just a brief note that yesterday I received my Pelikan M600, eventhough I have purchased Pelikan pens before, none have have written like this one. An absolute treasure.
Thank you.

Hello Jonella,

I received the pen last Friday and it is fantastic! I don't know how Mr. Mottishaw had it modified precisely the way I wanted (maybe there is some mind reading here)! A fine cursive Italic/Stub with a generous flow of ink! It makes me feel like giving away all my other fountain pens!I'd wish to thank both you and Mr. Mottishaw for such a great work!

All my Best,

Luiz

March 28, 2009

John / Danielle / Jonella,

THANK YOU again for the nib swap on my Spiketails. The Nakaya extra fine nib is super smooth and lays a perfect line, even considering my unorthodox "hooker-pusher" writing style.

I really appreciate your superb customer service and its because of experiences like this that allows me to appreciate the Nakaya's even more.

Again, thank you for continually providing fantastic service and support! I will be picking up another pen very soon! (Nakaya's are very addictive!)

March 17, 2009

Dear John & Jonella,

I have well received the Nakaya Dorsal Fin fountain pen which is an astonishing piece. I did already own a Piccolo Cigar and the differences in size are huge. The Dorsal Fin is one of the biggest pens I have, including King of Pen, Yukari Royale, Churchill, Divina Proporzione or André Mora's Oldwin Classic. The diameter is especially big. General design is incredible ! John has done a wonderful work, making the nib more soft and flexible than I did dream. Thank you very much !

All the best

François

March 17, 2009

Jonella : I received the new nib this afternoon and have been playing with it since. You are right. It does require a bit of precision in the manner in which you angle the nib. It is a bit toothy right now, but you told me to expect that initially so it's not a big deal. I do like the finer flow because the vowels that have loops in them now are visible instead of blotched when I wrote with the original Med 18K nib. I can clearly see the distinction between the up and down strokes which is the very point, (pun intended) of this purchase. My thanks to John for crafting this nib for me.

Hello John:
When I purchased the Nakaya Green Celluloid at the Chicago Pen Show in 2007 I was sure I had purchased a great pen. However, the Aka Tamenuri Decapod Writer is the very best. It writes nicely in my hand the way I like. You delivered a great product and I am well pleased. It will become a family heirloom.

March 8, 2009

I don't post often, except for sales or such, but one thing I learned as a kid growing up in the tumbleweed blown prairie of West Texas, was my elders teaching me the value of a job well done. I was taught to praise the work of others, whether or not I ever received recognition for anything I did.

John Mottishaw's group falls into the category of "praise worthy". I just got my Omas Paragon back after a nib swap from a B to a stub and the flow is wonderful & the nib is so smooth. And all this cost only $57.

I mention the cost because Omas (the distributor/company) will swap nibs for a current charge of $45 - ?, with a sometimes wait of 4-6 weeks unless parts are available in the US.

John's clan did the work for me and shipped the nib back in less than a week and I had emails along the way to make sure I was OK with the work and the charges.

John knows how to set nibs. Not that Omas techs don't.............but I'll trust John thank you very much.

Now, let's compare the cost with some other companies I've had experience with, looking at new, unused, uninked nibs. ...Stipula's charge is about $125 plus unless the nib is absolutely perfect
using a loupe. In that case it's about $60. I will say though that if you have a defective pen, nib, feed collar, etc., their service is very good and reasonable. ...Aurora is now $45. Sort of reasonable since they don't ask for receipts and there's no time limitation. ...Pelikan will not swap nibs for "free" anymore unless it's within 60 days of purchase and you have a receipt. ...Conway Stewart will swap nibs for the cost of shipping (about $15 or so). ...Bexley will swap nibs for about $25 if they are used and for a shipping charge if uninked and in like new condition. Reasonable service. ...Sailor will usually not swap nibs unless it's a proven defect and within 1
year of purchase. Used to be good service until a few years ago.

And others have their experiences as well. I'm not into modern Sheaffer or Parker pens so I don't know how their service is these days.

I mention the cost of nib swapping because that is the Holy Grail of pens as far as I'm concerned; the business end of the pen. As has been said so many times before, take a straight stick with a nice nib in it, and you can write.

In summary, (yes there's a point), John and his merry band provide outstanding service as the dealers of many brands of pens, and would rather help you than send you to the other side of the world. They are experts in their workand communication.

You can get similar service from many others on this board and in the pen community. I'm just bragging on John right now. Others will have their turn again I'm sure. I've given KUDOS to many others over the years.

So, when you need something done, just ask an expert. You will be
pleasantly
surprised.

Best and blessings!
Jim

Thanks for help and please thank John for the terrific job in customizing the nib. It's just the right flex and width.

March 3, 2009

Dear Jonella:

Interesting... No there is no other adress you should be using. The problem isn't my adress, the problem is with the Turkish postal service and the people who staff it. All I can do is ask you to send it back to me, I understand you will need to charge me once again for shipping. Please go ahead, and I apologize if this caused any kind of trouble for you guys.

Incidentally, could you pass along this note to John. I had ordered an Aurora Optima and nib a couple of months back with what I thought might be a slightly absurdly specific request for adjusting the nib. I want him to know that I LOVE what he did and its so unfair to all my other pens since the Optimas are all I want to use these days. Just a fantastic job, thank you very much!

Regards,

Iskender Sonmez

John did it once again! My new Omas Bologna writes beautifully! It is really a pleasure to write with. My new favorite pen! :-) I will try really hard to take care of this one….

February 22, 2009

Hi, Jonella,
I just wanted to thank you for the great service both in preparing the pens and getting them shipped to me so quickly. The Nakaya was as expected-- perfect line size, flow, and I literally can drag the pen across the page and the weight of this very light pen is enough to form a normal line. The setup was absolutely perfect and I'll likely be ordering a portable in the same finish soon-- it is hard to stop at just one!
But the best thing was the Vanishing Point I ordered for my mother. Her birthday isn't for another month, so she wasn't expecting a gift at all, let alone an expensive one. I surprised her in the car with the gift wrapped pen. She was speechless when she later opened it up, seeing what it was and heard the story behind it (that she had a pen custom tuned for her by the finest nibmeister in the country). With tears of happiness in her eyes, she told me it was the best, most thoughtful gift she had ever received and the best birthday she had ever had. It was truly a touching moment for me and my parents and it is all thanks to you and Mr. Mottishaw.

I know you must receive a glowing reply of satisfaction with almost every order you send out, but I wanted to let you know what a special and memorable time that this pen led to.

All the best, and thank you again,
Patrick

February 21, 2009

Jonella,
I received the pen. What a beauty! The craftmanship is exquisite. You are correct about the aki-tamenuri color---it really catches the light!!. I am certainly glad that I selected the music nib as it is very smooth. Incidently, the maki-e converter is interesting!

Thank you so very much for such a smooth sales transaction, and I look forward for the receipt of my retipped pens from John.

Sincerely,

Charles M. Smith

February 19, 2009

John, the Decapod Heki-tamenuri hasn’t been out of my pocket since I received it on Tuesday. This has got to be one of the finest, best writing pens I own. And I own a *lot* of pens. Well worth the wait.

February 09, 2009

Dear Jonella and CFP staff,

I have received the pens safely after a minor UPS adventure. The driver mistook 6542 for 6546 and my package ended up with one of my neighbors in a different building. Fortunately, I was able to track down the package and everything arrived safely.

Both pens are fabulous and wrote beautifully right out of the both. I am really impressed with the Bexley Owner's Club pen. This is my first Bexley pen and it fells really comfortable in the hand and John's tuning was perfect. The Nakaya was also tuned perfectly and feels much more responsive than my Platinum Koi Celluloid pen. Thanks for the beautiful Nakaya catalog. I will definitely order another Nakaya in the near future. Only which one.......

Sincerely,

Ricky Chau

Jonathan and Crew,

As soon as I received the custom ground "BB" nib I installed it in my blue M805 Pelikan. I have been writing with it ever sense. It is my first "BB" Custom Stub as my others are "B" stubs. However, I like it even better. It is responsive, very easy to control, smooth as silk and just a joy to use. For all my future purchases I will want the "BB" Custom Stub. Another winner from the Classic Fountain Pen Crew. Keep up the great work

Hi,
My Delta Peace pen arrived back yesterday evening. It now writes very smoothly indeed, even though it has quite a fine point, and the ink flow is exactly as I might wish it. I have yet to take it for an extended writing tour, which I will today. I do not foresee any difficulties.

Many thanks for your excellent work.

Best regards,
Kevin Mackey

January 29, 2009

hi, john and company....

just a quick note to let you know the nakaya briar landed and it was worth the wait. john, you did a fantastic job on the nib. perfect for me. now i'm going to have to send you my other nakaya - that i bought several years
ago straight from japan - to bring it up to snuff.
my best to all,

Robert Wallack

Hey, John!

Got the Sailor... been writing with it all day today. Color me happy. It's exactly what I wanted. (And how often does that happen?)The two-sided MF/XF nib you‘ve customized for me must be what the gods use to scribble earthly fate. Next stop, another Nakaya...

Honest!

January 28, 2009

How far south can you take a Nakaya pen? Try Antarctica! Last December I decided a Nakaya Portable Cigar would be the perfect travel journal companion for my expedition to the Antarctic Peninsula. The pen saw rough seas, thousands of penguins, a host of seals, whales and a handful of icebergs on it’s journey to the end of the world. Now, every time I pick up that pen, I find myself back on that icy continent walking with the penguins and watching them protect their two furry chicks.

Many thanks go to Jonella and John at Nibs.com for prepping the pen perfectly for the way I like to write, and making the effort to ensure it arrived at my office in plenty of time for the journey. Now I need to figure out where to take my new Piccolo Writer in the Heki-tamenuri color. Perhaps the local Starbucks.

Many thanks.

Jim Klein

January 22, 2009

I am greatly enjoying my new Nakata pen. The long cigar shape without clip and red/black lacquer finish is truly distinctive. It has what the Japanese call shibui - severe good taste. The customized italic nib produces wonderful strokes and I look forward to writing the the notes for my next book with this pen. Also, John beautifully restored a favorite 35 year old Montblank pen which I then managed to break again. To save time, I had it repaired locally. A huge mistake. It is in John's hands once again. Fortunately for me, he will be able to repair the repairs.

I just received both vanishing points pens and they are terrific. The left oblique modification to the medium is exactly right and the fine is a dream to sketch with. I get that wonderful line quality of slightly wet ink that dries almost immediately. They are incredibly smooth.

The weight of the pens is a surprising advantage. I just put the pen to paper and it writes by itself, effortlessly. Now I can draw and write in style with no fatigue.

As usual, a great job...thanks and I hope to see you at the February Pen Show in LA.

Happy Year

Subject: I do believe I just say my beloved Nakayas being shipped.

Whoopie!

What a great little story these Nakayas have been through. And you were all there to witness it happen. Especially the part about after having damaged my poor Piccolo's nib I completely lost my mind and ordered three more flex nib pens to compensate my loss.

What you may not know is that as a further result of this mishap I went on a fountain pen bender/binge whose breadth encompassed the entire world. Oh the shame and embarrassment that is me right now. But at least I'll have 20 or so new pens just in case this ever happens again. Does this mean I've just entered the world of the pen collector?

Dear Classic Fountain Pen crew,

I just received my pen back today, ahead of schedule, and it is just like new! I am 100% satisfied and would not hesitate to recommend you to any other pen folk. Thank you for the wonderful job that you do. I could not be happier.

May you enjoy continued success in 2009!

Kind regards,

Hi Jonella!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas - and thanks for the very special card - and John! You should have popped in - we always have a guest room made up and plenty of hospitality!!! You could have seen all my pens and had some fun!! I know you must have been very pushed for time - so only joking really - being so close and so far away is not easy, is it?

The Tea Time arrived today - it missed being here for Christmas by one working day - it cleared customs Christmas Eve - so today was the first day for the post office to deliver. I filled it immediately with Diamine Sapphire Blue and used it to snail a friend - what a nib! Ken Schillinger may well be in touch because I posted about it on FPC and he has one of your red LEs - and is teetering towards getting a Mandarin now - me and my big mouth - hehehe!!!

I haven't tried the Sailor inks yet - I let them settle a little after being turned every which way but up for days.

Again John and Team - excellent pen and service - a huge thanks, and Happy New Year to you all!

Hugs,
Chris

Thank You from Australia

Thank you to all the crew at Classic Fountain Pens. My Namiki Falcon (with the Extra Fine and Extra Flexibility) arrived today. It writes superbly and I am very pleased with your service. As for expectations: I had none. I own a number of pens and I find that the pen dictates how I write. Learning what the pen wants from me takes a little time - I need to be broken in - and because this nib is so radically different from the other pens and nibs, I suggest it may take a little longer than usual. (I hope so, because the learning is so much fun.)

Again, thank you all so very much.

Hi John,
I received the red Aurora Optima that I'd sent in for a badly scratched cap and barrel. Thank you for such wonderful repair work! You'd never know anything had happened to the pen! I guess I'd better start thinking about adding another Aurora to my collection.

Thank you so much,
Kate

Hi John,

It was nice talking to you last night as well. For some reason the nicest people I deal with these days work for pen companies. It really re-establishes the relationships you used to have when shopping in small stores. About 20 years ago I worked for some time in Madras, India where the stores were organized by specialty. There was one whole street that might have medical supplies, or drugs or nuts and bolts etc. To this day I still remember the faces and discussions I had with shop keepers who would never let me enter their stores without a long chat and a 'Campa Cola' India's version of Coca Cola. Relationships build loyalty and that is always good for business.

Your invoice accurately reflects my order.

Many thanks,
David

My 3 pens have just arrived. Thank you so much for your the work you performed on them. Each of them now writes beautifully. I am very pleased.

Hello Jonella! Hello Sarah! Hello John!

Just received my Pelikan Polar Lights. I am absolutely embarassed how fast the parcel came.

Our latest mail correspondence was not even a week ago !!!
PERFECT work, John! Wonderful smooth and sooooo broad. Phantastic, as always.
Thank you so much. Thanx also to Jonella and Sarah for the great service.
Now all the Chirstmas letters can come - I'm ready for action with a gorgious pen :-)
Manny sunny smiles to LA and America

(now finally again with a good president - so the dark times seem to be over and brighter days are dawning :-))))

Jonella, Danielle, John:

Both the stub which I ordered from Jonella and the medium which accompanied the superb '31 Gold that Danielle discovered have exhausted my supply of superlatives.
I can't thank you all enough.
And if you happen to come across a new White Gold '31 and/or a Green '35, please notify me.

Dear Nibsters,

Thanks so much for taking the time to help me out with my order -- and producing a fantastic replacement nib for my Parker Sonnet. It writes like a charm in spite of my fears about the "very fine" nib -- thanks to everyone who helped out (and I think I corresponded with just about all of you)!

October 23rd, 2008

Hello Jonella.

I just wanted to tell you that the pen arrived today in perfect shape. Just in case I showed it to my wife and her face said all, it has been a 100% hit. We tried the nib and the satisfaction has been absolute with nothing else to be desired. All just perfect. Thanks.

Perhaps in a near future I may order from you the Nakaya LE if still available. I think that it is a very special pen and the bamboo motive and techniques used are extremly well done.

Cheers

Jose

October 20th, 2008

John: I received my 1935 model Parker Vacumatic that I dropped on the kitchen floor back Friday. It's perfect.

I bought the pen in Washington D.C., brought it home, and proceeded to drop it within one week. The "re-tip job" you did was fantastic! The stroke is as smooth as butter and the flow is just right. Thank you so much for saving my pen.

John: Those two pens are so beautiful and write as well or better than anything else you have sold me.

You're the best. Thank you so much.

I can't wait for this election to be over, assuming, of course, that Obama
wins!

Enjoy your weekend,

October 13th, 2008

Dear John and Jonella,

I have received this weekend the Montblanc Medici which John has retipped and reground into a stub before leaving for the NY/NJ pen show.

He has once again done WONDERFUL work. I am so happy with the way the nib writes. It starts without hesitation, is incredibly smooth, has great line variation and a commensurate ink flow. It is impeccable.

Thank you also for completing this work so quickly.

I am very grateful to you both. With all my best wishes,

Robert Raut

John,

Three pages in: I love the nib. What a beautiful pen. (Regarding Nakaya)

Thank you.

Good weekend,

September 28th, 2008

Sarah,

Just a quick email to let you know how pleased I am with the adjustments you made to my pen. It is like this magic writing tool. I can't believe how smooth it writes.

Thanks again.

Robert

September 15th, 2008

Thank you Jonella : )
The great pen arrives safely, with only a day of delay from UPS and I really appreciate your continual service!

But I would like to emphasize again how important the nib is. If the nib performs horribly, no matter how the look of the pen is it will be bad.

Mr. Mottishaw and the team create such a wonderful nib exactly for my needs. I fill my days with excitement when I write in my journal and do my homework. Thank you thank you! It writes silky smooth... and requires no extra pressure to write, yet very precise on paper. I think this is the art of Nibsters...

Best Regards,
Willy

Hello Jonella

My new fountain pen arrived while I was away over the weekend and so I have been busy using this lovely thing all day - it's as good as was promised - probably better. Please thank John for all his hard work before he went away on vacation to get it ready for me!

Thank you all once again.

Best regards

Dear All,

I'd like to thank you very very much. I received the pen yesterday and it does not disappoint me

in any way. Not only it's got a very nice shape but it also writes wonderfully and what a smoothness of its nib!!!

So... Encore merci beaucoup beaucoup pour votre rapidité d'exécution, votre professionalisme et votre gentillesse. Il est infiniment agréable de traiter avec des gens passionnés de leur métier comme vous l'ètes!.

You will have to translate!

I am so satisfied that I will probably further take an interest in some of your nice pre-owned fountainpens.

Thank you again!

Best regards

June 19th, 2008

Jonella and Jon,

Have received the MB149 with re-tip as detailed below. John has again done a great job.  What was previously somewhat of a chore to write with is now a pleasure.  The ink flow is consistent and rich, and the left oblique customization adds some nice character to the lettering.

My repeat business is testimony to your maintenance of high quality standards.

Thanks,

Tom Gibbons

June 18th, 2008

Hi – the 51 arrived today. Thank you!

To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee: “No, that’s a pen...” A truly impressive line! Just what I wanted. I’ll let you know how many inches it writes to the bottle...

Once again, thank you. Fantastic job, and in record time.

Best,

June 16th, 2008

Dear John,

You have really outdone yourself with this new nib. I must have had 6 or 7 nibs made especially for me over the years but this one is the best ever. It is so smooth and the there are no false starts.... Difficult to achieve with a flexible oblique nib. I had a look at the nib under a microscope and it is amazing how symmetrical and smooth it is.... Even with such magnification. I am totally blown away and will struggle to use my other nibs from now on! Lucky this one can be moved to different pens otherwise I fear they may be neglected.

Yours Sincerely

Andrew

Hi John!

Well, it was worth the wait! The orange Danitrio Eye dropper arrived
this afternoon safe and sound. 4 months! I'm impressed! The nib is
so smooth and perfect! Thank you so much. I had considered selling
this pen, but it may become one of my favorites now. Really, it turned
out exactly how I wanted it. (You can't see me, but I'm doing the
happy dance...)

June 7th, 2008

I just wanted you to know that I received my first order from Classic Fountain Pens; an Ake Tamenuri Nakaya Decapod.

I am thrilled with the performance of the pen. When you asked what my writing style was and I responded that I was a left handed underwriter and that I write primarily block letters at a slow to medium pace, you configured the pen perfectly.

The pen is slightly dry. I get nervous when I get a dry writer since I have always taken it as a sign of an ink flow problem, and usually the pen will skip.

The flow on this pen is perfect, and from the time I filled it to the first touch on paper, it has never skipped a beat.

Your recommendation to use a medium soft and flexible was also perfect. This was based on my input that Bexley's Bock fine nibs were some of my favorites.

I'm a very happy customer, and I am in the process of determining which pen I will get next.

Dear Danielle,

I have received the Sailor fountain pen you shipped to me, and it is perfect. It is the best pen I have used in the 25 years I've had fountain pens.

My thanks to you and everyone who helped eith my order. You can be sure I'll be back again soon.

Hello to the best little pen works in the west !

I received Nakaya portable cigar in blue today....wow! the pen is ethereal in its color and its ultra clean lines move me into considering whether this pen may have a soul.  Clearly it manifests a spirit that is a pure reflection of its maker...I like this pen a lot!!!

I look forward to receiving the others I have ordered..These pens are magnificent!

Thank you

Jonathan:

Have received both Montblanc and Pelikan books, and both will be indispensable additions to my reference library.
I must add, however, that the Collectors Edition of Pelikan Writing Instruments is probably the most beautiful and comprehensive edition of its kind that I've yet seen.

Thank you for offering something so remarkable.

May 7th, 2008

Jonathan,

I received the pen yesterday afternoon, and I'm delighted with the results. Please, let John know that the Fine nib (which I expected to perform like an Extra Fine) is smooth and with excellent flow--I can't hardly feel any drag at all, yet it retains useful feedback. It was not hard to imagine that the combination Nakaya + Nibs would produce amazing results, but it's even better when it becomes a reality.
Thank you very much for you help.

Best,

Hi,

My new Nakaya Cigar Portable Aka-tamenuri, (the dark red-red) with a flexible fine nib arrived just yesterday, after a several month wait.

When we were kids, mailing away for anything sight unseen, like a Tony the Tiger bathtub power racing speed boat (only needed 34 box tops) built up expectations that eventually crystallized into an unreachable ideal. The Tony the Tiger power boat was disappointing. Very. In fact I stopped eating that cereal in protest.

Waiting for my Nakaya, the idea of the pen enjoyed a similar crystallization of expectation. For the first time ever something not only met but exceeded such images.  The pen is truly exceptional:  starting with the unpretentious ceremonial quality of the presentation box, to unwrapping the pen seeing the rich color and elegant shape, the lovely evidence of human craftsmanship, to finally feeling the pen’s perfect warm balance in my hand.

I inked the pen and finally understood what fountain pens are about;  I’ve used them for years, had many, and experimented with a lot of different nibs, new and old.   This pen danced over the page and I had a pleasure in the act of writing like no other pen, even better than the Pelikan John tweaked into an archi-italic for me several years ago.  I spent a solid  hour just writing notes, doodles, handwriting exercises, sketches and naughty limericks,  trying to make my hand worthy of the pen.  The thought of getting rid of the rest of my pens actually flashed through my mind. Naahh.

To put the cherry on top, the pen is attractively priced for a fine writing instrument. There is a lot of stuff out there priced much higher that doesn’t even start to touch the experience.  For all of these reasons plus one more- John and his crew are a true pleasure to do business with- I recommend the Nakaya line without reservation.

Sincerely,

David Morriss

Hello Nibsters: John, Jonella, Danielle, Sarah and Jonathan… Oh… Miss Q too!!

Getting back home after a hard working day, I was so glad to find by my doorstep a well packaged Priority Mail box from you guys. Too bad it wasn’t gift wrapped. I always enjoy receiving and opening a package. Regardless, I opened it and found within it the treasure box I was really looking for.

As I opened the Pelikan box I was gratified by the sights of a beautiful fountain pen: the M620 Grand Place. The photos don’t do justice to this pen. It looks and feels so much better in my hand. I am glad I purchased this little piece of writing art. I feel grateful I am able to enjoy the beauty of this pen and write with such a nice  work of art.

The other reason for great joy and satisfaction upon getting my hands on this pen, is the pleasure of inking it (Noodler’s blue) for the first time and putting the nib to work! No trouble at all handling this cursive italic nib. Found the sweet spot immediately. It writes effortlessly and consistently with light or medium hand pressure (I don’t put much pressure on the pen). I think I’m going to enjoy this pen for a long time. This writing jewel definitely is a keeper.

Please accept this sincere testimony of appreciation for this medium-fine cursive italic nib. It is a wonderful, perfect wet nib with very nice line variation that writes without hesitation from the first stroke to the last. So far so good and I feel it will be for the better. My personal thanks to John for the custom job on the nib. I extend an Email handshake to him.

Yours Truly,

Herman Lugo

Dear Jonathan,

I recieved my Omas Milord yesterday and I am very pleased with it!    I want to thank you for your suggestion on going with the Omas over the other pens I mentioned.   It has a nice weight to it and is very comfortable to write for a long period of time.  The extra fine nib writes a little bit wider than my Sailor Fine but I can still read my small handwriting!   Please thank John for his work on making this pen so smooth.  I haven't been able to put the pen down and have used one cartridge in less than 2 days!

Once again I have to thank you and everone at Classic Fountain Pens for such great products and excellent service!   I'm spoiled now and don't think I can buy pens from anyone else!

Dear Jonathan, Mr Mottishaw and all the people at CFP

Hi again, last Friday I received the OMAS pens and just let me tell you I
have no word to describe how happy excited pleased etc etc I am with the
pens. The old style paragon was a dry pen that just make me sad when I
received for first time, now wow! its really amazing! The nib its the most
incredible that I have, smooth, wet, super-fast-responsive, its really
fantastic! The arco also writes in the same way, this are now pens that will
make any an enthusiast about fountain pens. I am 100% sure this pens are in
much better shape than when they leave OMAS factory.

Please say thank you very very much to Mr Mottishaw.

I am really so excited with this pens that now I want to send you all my
pens to be tuned by Mr Mottishaw! so in the near future you will have more
news from me.

But at this moment I just want to say thanks again

Very very best,

Ricardo

Dear Friends at Classic Fountain Pens, Inc.:

I received yesterday my Sheaffers Levenger, translucent Aegean Seas pen which you cleaned and increased the ink flow.  I did not know why it worked poorly, often stopping shortly after beginning use, but now understand it was plugged due to poor maintenance habits.  I am reviewing your Pen Maintenance page and will henceforth be much more thorough and routine in cleaning all my pens, ESPECIALLY one which I use for red ink!  Thank you for fixing this one and informing me of the nature of the problem, so that I may become a better pen parent.  Question:  is it better to store them empty or filled with water?

Best wishes to all!

Frank J. Artusio

March 12, 2008

Dear Jonathan,

It was a delight to receive the pen in perfect condition today - the increased flex in the nib has made the writing perfectly smooth.

I am very delighted with the pen and your service - I am one very satisfied customer.

Many many thanks

March 6, 2008

Wowie! Thanks! What two Waterman shops (US and France) couldn't manage
to figure out, you did perfectly. It's  writing better than I
remember, so the adjustments you made were right on.

I'll call soon about my Pelikan Souveran 800M's need for a medium
italic nib. I replaced the lost pen -- okay quality, not as nice as
the original, but I have to live with it. I want to replace the lovely
medium italic nib that made the original such a joy to use. I think we
talked about that a while ago.

The fine nib works great with my block printing, and is smooth as hell. Way smoother than expensive ball points or roller pens I’ve bought before, being “afraid” to get a fountain.

So thank you for all your help and knowledge.

I saw the note about using the converter to flush the ink out of a spent cartridge, but I’m not sure how to do that. Do you have a picture or instruction on your site somewhere?

Thank you….

Jeff Paul

John:

I've received the customized 14k Oblique nib that you crafted for the wonderful Pelikan Lapis '31 LE that I bought from you earlier.

Superlatives fail me.

I believe that "perfection" is the only appropriate description for your work.

Thank you, again,

February 27, 2008

I received the Sheherazade today and in record time for a parcel from the USA: shipped on the 19th and in my hands on the 27th.  What a smart looking, yet distinctive, pen it is; better than any picture I've seen, but it does look good in the pictures nonetheless.  I've just written one page with it and it (unposted) feels perfect in my hand; I never post a pen.  The Bexley nib is fantastic, as are all my Bexley nibs.  This is my fifth Bexley and the more I get the more I want.

Great doing business with you and I'll be back again.

Best regards,
Bryan Gallow

February 07, 2008

Dear John,

Yesterday, I received the Pelikan M600 14C two-toned OBB nib that you have sculptured to a rounded cursive italic. The nib writes very smooth with adorable line-width variations. The inkflow is dryer and still does not skip. The 0.85 - 0.9 mm size is just perfect for my everyday writings.

I love this nib, John - it's the best I have. Thank you very much for sharing your Gift.

Jonathan,
I received my Waterman and Duofold back and I must say that John performed magic on them. They are pure joy to write with! The cursive italic really transformed my writing. The pens now out perform what my hand is capable of producing. I would love to know how John’s trip to Nakaya went. I ordered a Nakaya before I knew you could order one. I am sure it would have been easier communicating with you as there is a slight language barrier. They were delightful however and it was interesting to email back and forth with Ms. Yoko Kono. I eventually settled on a Shobu Piccolo with fine gold gradation Maki-e on the grip with the gold stronger at the nib thinning toward the threads. I nib I ordered is a two tone medium stub. This was not a cheap pen but I am looking forward to receiving it. The problem is that I do not want to put down the two that John worked on!

January 28, 2008

Hi Jonathan --

Just wanted to let you know that I received my Omas Milord on my birthday a few weeks ago, and I'm really enjoying it.  {You sold the pen to my mom, Janice Ferester.}  At first I was a little concerned that the medium nib was laying down too broad a line -- then I discovered that this was really true of only of the cheap paper that we were using at our office, which soaks up ink like a napkin.  On most other paper types, it lays down a very smooth, generous-but-not-too-wet line.  I also love the weight (like a feather), size (roughly comparable to an M600), and color (which, despite your website's description, I would call a darker grey -- it is in fact dark enough to wear on a yellow or beige shirt without a clash of color).

I did notice that the nib itself seems to be missing indications of its gold content.  Do you happen to know why that is?

In any case, thank you once again for delivering a great product.  Every pen that I've purchased from Classic (this is my third, plus I bought an extra M600 nib) has been terrific -- I keep getting new favorite pens, each with its own personality!

 Sharon,

I received the Omas Bronze Hi Tech FP yesterday. It is PERFECT! I don't know if it required much work, but it writes exactly as I had requested. Thank you for your help. I will certainly be calling you again for my next  pen purchase.
Thanks for everything.

January 24, 2008

The Tea Time I ordered arrived today.  Of course I couldn't wait to try it out.  It has the broad cursive italic nib which you custom made.

Incredible.  Smooth as glass.  Simply glides across  the paper.  The italic nib is in fact the best that I have ever had:  very broad on the vertical and very thin on the horizontal.  Even my handwriting appears elegant.  I have had similarly named nibs before, but never as beautiful as this.  Your work is as always exceptional.

Of course, I should not overlook the pen itself.  Amazingly it is conveniently short when closed, but pleasantly long when posted.  I much prefer a long pen to write with.  I think it has something to do with the unique positioning of the barrel and cap threads.  Terrific.  The color is excellent too: reminiscent of older period pens.

Thanks very much much for the care that went into the design of the pen and the craftmanship of the nib.  As always you have far exceeded any reasonable expectation.  This will be a tough act to follow.  But then, I have said that before.

January 23, 2008

I recently received my new Sailor Sapporo Mini pen, and I love it.  It will fit in my smallest purses, yet it is not too small for my hand.  It is my second Sailor pen, and I have been very happy with both.  I now write so many more letters than I ever used to write, since I started writing with Sailors. Thanks for the prompt service.

January 20, 2008

Hi Sharon,

I love the Mini's that arrived this weekend.  The blue one is almost a purple, and with the silver appointments, it's stunning.  A one-hundred-dollar fountain pen with a nib like that, it's hard to believe. ... it's a wonderful little pen.  The blue is unlike any other blue I own, and visually stunning.

cheers,
Jim

January 18, 2008

Dear Jonathan,

I received the Bexley-tea yesterday, and it is superb. I especially appreciate the barrel diameter and the ratio of the cap length to the pen body length. Lovely design and it writes beautifully...

With thanks,

January 17, 2008

Just wanted you to know the pen arrived and I’m really enjoying using it.  My brother had warned me that my new one would have a fatter barrel than the one I already owned and it turns out I like the new one better.  Also, whatever you did to the point makes it write much more smoothly than my first Vanishing Point.  Terrific service from nice people – what more could a customer want?

Thank you so much!

Hi John & Jonathan,

I received my Bexley Sheherazade in Tortoise w/Broad nib this afternoon. I have been using it after it warmed up - it's cold in the Chicago area right now!

This is the smoothest and best nib that I have ever had and the pen is also gorgeous to look at and hold in your hand.

Thank you!!!

December 19, 2007

John, Sharon and all,

The Parker 51 desk pens arrived and I'm excited and relieved to have them back.  They both write beautifully and will make my work more enjoyable.

As for the CFP Tea Time 2008, in a fit of self control I decided not to even open the box but instead to wrap it and leave it under the Christmas tree.  How's that for deferred gratification!

Thanks so much.

Best wishes for the holidays!

December 5, 2007

Hello Sharon and Jonathan,

I received the Tea Time Bexley today, and here is a pen in which everything came out just so right. The salmon-terra cotta color of the barrel is framed by a glossy black resin on both ends, and the gold trim is the perfect accent. The nib, which John modified to a cursive italic gives crisp width variation while writing smoothly in fine-medium lines and a nicely tuned flow that is just where it should be. It is much too long for me posted, but the pen looks great in the hand unposted, with black resin framing both ends of the barrel. And the nib is so elegant, isn't it?

I've bought enough pens now to know that at any given time one's 'favorite pen' tends to be the one most recently bought, and so it doesn't stay favorite that long. This one is going to break that rule.

Thanks for the fast turn around and the great work!
Jim

November 29, 2007

Hi Jonathan.

A quick note to say that my pen has arrived (Namiki Falcon) and that I am delighted with it. It behaves exactly as I had hoped, writing smoothly and offering a good deal of width variation. I am glad that it is possible to get a pen with these qualities, and would happily recommend your services.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much.

Hello,

I received my pen and absolutely love the stub nib! It is so much fun to write with it. I'm so glad I decided to get the nib reground to a stub. Thank you so much for your great service.

Saturday, November 17

Hello, Sharon -

In August, I purchased 2 Sailor Sapporos…I received them in perfect working order and have been using them constantly. To give you an idea of how much I use them, I fill the pens 3-4 times a week and sometimes more. The EF nibs are surprisingly smooth; I was expecting much more scratch. They are wonderful pens, at any price. I'm more than satisfed with them and will use them for years and years, along with my Souverans, my demi Vacumatic and my Parker 51, all of whom are feeling very neglected these days!

What I appreciate most, however, is the unprecedented service and attention I received from you and your colleagues. It still amazes me that you asked me to specify ink-flow. That had never occured before. Of course, this is a very important question and I marvel at your thoroughness and your obvious care, even for someone who has just ordered two of the least expensive pens you sell. You've made a faithful customer. I'll be ordering again, very soon. I believe I'm going to take the plunge and go for an Omas. …

You guys are just great.

Jon – the Pelikan 605 is awesome. It arrived today. Nice hefty feel in the hand and very smooth on paper. Lays down just the right amount of ink. …

Thanks,
Bill

Dear Sharon, Jonathan,
Today the Falcon arrived! …The pen writes wonderful! Of course I compared it with my Mont Blanc and Waterman pens, but the Falcon definately is the winner. I like a firm handwriting and inkflow, and the Falcon is well up to the job, even writing smoother than my (old) Mont Blanc.
…Again: thanks for the wonderfalcon.....

Best regards,
Ernest Peijnenburg

Dear Jonathan, Sharon, and John

I must thank you for your fantastic service. I've got the pen today. It writes most beautifully. The ink
flow is perfect.

Best regards,

I would like to thank you for your excellent work on my pen [ed. Dupont sterling silver]. I waited a few days to respond, so I could be sure it was functioning to my personal preferences, given the difficulty of explaining writing style. You definitely have improved on the ink-flow problem, and it’s prior tendency to dry out while you were trying to write. You did an excellent job improving the flow consistency of this pen, and even made it write a bit more smoothly, which is remarkable, given how smooth it was to begin. …As you may also know, the manufacturer tried twice, and failed, to repair this problem.
Hopefully all will continue well with this pen.

Kindly,
Nathan

Hi Sharon!

I am writing to let you know that the Novelli just landed, and has been filled..........thanks to the CD (I had forgotten, even though I have a Wall Street LE!) and is writing beautifully.

Please thank John and everyone - but especially John, who has, once again created a wonderful nib - perfecto!!!!

The pen is sitting here atop my little 'white' book that records every pen I have - and is glistening and glinting in the light of my lamp - tempting me away from watching the very last, but most important part of my new kitchen being installed - toffee-apple red glass splashbacks on an all white kitchen!!!

Chris - so very happy

Re: Pre-owned Namiki Bamboo, Blue – Fine point

For a fine point, it's smooth as silk but without "ice skating" over the paper. I don't know how you did it, but you helped me figure out how I want my everyday writer to be. You hit the nail on the head with this one.

Thanks,

Lee Worsham

Sharon & John:

The EF is beautiful now--perfectly smooth. Thanks for your help on this. It is every bit as smooth as the Sonnet that I love, and a bit finer to boot.

Chuck

Dear John,

I received the Sailor Moonlit Forest you modified for me. Ohhh myyyyyy. It is much more exquisite in "person" and the nib is beyond the beyond. It's like sailing on silk to write with it. Yesterday I saw a friend of mine who went to one of the DC pen shows where you modified a Vanishing Point for her. She is glowing about it.

Thank you for your mastery and your art,

Ann

Dear Friends,

You were right - the Sailor Colors pen is wonderful. The fine point
makes every letter of my narrow spiky handwriting absolutely legible.
The pen writes smoothly, one of the smoothest fine nibs i've used, and
the bright yellow colour gets loads of comments, especially from my
students.

This pen won't sit in a drawer, but now joins my Eversharp Skyline and
Parker Victory as an everyday writer.
Thanks again for your advice and dedication,

Richard Fagan

Hello all,

I've just received this morning the black HT Paragon with the regrinded cursive italic nib. It's a a nice pen and a wonderful nib, exactly what I expected, and maybe a bit more ! The nib seems to have been done for my hand. I immediately filled it with Sailor blue-black ink, it's an absolute dream to write with.

Thanks to you all for the service, and special thanks to John for his fine job on the nib. …

All the best,

Jimmy Peguet

I’ve been traveling a bit and didn’t get a chance to ink up the Pelikan 800 until last night. I was so surprised! John was able to make a formal italic that is nevertheless a bit forgiving for my often errant strokes. It’s like John knows exactly what I can handle. I’m calling this pen my “gentle formal italic.” Tell John “thanks” for another fine job.

Dear John, and Staff:
Just received ST Dupont Fountain Pen which you retipped with Italic, and
am thoroughly delighted with the write-feel and perfect width. Your
superb workmanship is indeed a work of art. It is so nice to see Master
Craftsman like yourself in this world of automated mass productions.
Please keep up your valuable sevices.
Sincerely; William Tomori

Hi Pat,

Sorry the time has flown by and I forgot to thank you for the Sailor Naginata-Togi fountain pen, “WOW” is the only way to describe the way it writes (so smooth) and the tremendous design and feel (like it was made for me).

Thank you again,
Andy

Dear Sharon,
Please let John know that I am extremely pleased with the repair work on
my Galileo Galilei. The pen looks almost like new and the stains are almost
all gone. I am also pleased with how the pen writes. Great work!

Kind regards,
Wolfgang

Jonella –

I am so sorry to be so long in replying...the replacement fine nib [ed. on a sapporo full size] is just perfect! It suits my meticulous handwriting, and I'm delighted with the hand-feel and fit of my first Sailor pen. Many thanks for working with me on this.

Dear Sharon

The pens have arrived. I can cut the story short: All perfect! John did a real good job on the Montblanc 136 (it is really smoooooooth!) and on the Waterman as well. The slighty scratchy Wahl is much better now. Thanks a lot and best regards from Switzerland.

Markus

Sharon,
Got the Namiki yesterday and am very pleased. it writes like a charm and has not left my hands all morning. It is set up perfectly and already has me wanting a second insert with an italic nib for fun! Thanks for the personalized attention to the order. Tony Miller

Hi Sharon - for Danielle,

The Sailor Koi Supreme arrived Monday - in wonderful shape. Many thanks! I've been enjoying the pen and the Music nib since. It will take me a little time to get used to how the nib behaves and the easy flow of the ink – but I am enjoying taking the time. This is a GREAT signature pen/nibcombination. I am delighted how it feels as it travels over a page. …

I'm excited like a child and I think I'll have great fun trying to do something with this one.

WOW!  I love this Ogiva!  I'm not sure if John had to do much or anything with the nib, but it writes exactly as I wanted.  Smooth and great flow. And, what a beauty. Thanks again.  I can always count on the nibs.com folks for a job well done.

Danielle,

The Aurora safely arrived today. What an attractive pen!  I really like the rich green tones contrasted with the thick gold accents and the stock italic nib is perfect for my cursive italic scribbling.  (But I'm getting better!) Thanks for the great service.

Dear John and Jonella:

My Martini Capless pen arrived on time, as promised. I have already had a chance to test it quite extensively (suffice it to say, 0.6 ml of ink has been used up). To begin with, the ink flow is perfect. And that sensation of effortless gliding across the sheet (of Hammermill premium laser paper, to be specific) is delectable to behold. My compliments! Thank you so much.

Best, Alex Golubev

This letter came with this great wax seal! (Note the singe mark above)

Just a note to say thanks for the great pen. It arrived Sunday, much sooner than I had expected! I've been using it a lot since then, and it is absolutely perfect, my new daily writer.
Thanks for such a smooth transaction!
Russ 9/24/07

The new pens are terrific.  The Omas demonstrator is already becoming my favorite: the pictures on your website really don’t convey the beauty of this piece.  The Bexley scherezade is also very nice, in a less lavish way.  It’s getting to the point where I can’t decide what pens to put in my shirt pocket.
Thanks,

Chuck Albrecht 9/17/07

Sharon and Jonella,
Thanks for the quick turnaround.  My Sailor 1911 (small/mid) red arrived last week, and it's a real beauty.  That is a gorgeous deep salmon red, isn't it?  And the 'B' ground to a cursive italic is just fantastic.  And that's the nicest sailor gold nib i've ever owned--simple, elegant, and just so nice looking with the red, black, and gold trim.

very satisfied again,

Hi Sharon,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my email. Here in Europe it is now almost 23:00 hours so I will wait until tomorrow before studying what you say in deatail.

I intended to write to you and John anyway because today I received the two pens you sent me last week. Of course they are beautifula and I am delighted with each of them, but specifically I wanted to thank John for the AWESOME job he did on the nibs! FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
What a pleasure to write with, WOW!!!! I really want to thank you for the value added by the nib customisation, PERFECT. Thank you John.

Sharon and Jonella,

Thanks for the quick turnaround.  My Sailor 1911 (small/mid) red arrived last week, and it's a real beauty.  What a gorgeous deep salmon red!  And the 'B' ground to a cursive italic is so smooth and provides great line width variation.  That's the nicest sailor gold nib i've ever owned--simple, sparkling, and so elegant with the red and black, with the gold trim.

Jonella,
Yesterday I received the pen I ordered (it looks like it had spent Wednesday night at the UPS facility in Los Angeles). It arrived in fine shape, and writes with a takes-your-breath-away, O-my-gosh-this-is-unbelievable! smoothness. Thank you very much for your help with this, and thanks also to Danielle for basically reading my mind and figuring out exactly what I was looking for.
I look forward to working with you all again in the future,
Sincerely,
David Reiser (8/18/ 2007)

Dear all at Classic Fountain Pens,

I received the package last Thursday finally, filled the pen with
Diamine's ink on the next day and tried writing with it. It was ... marvelous!
The first stroke was enough to notice the difference. The nib runs on the paper so smoothly as if it skated on the ice. The ink flow and its line width were both perfect.
Sincerely yours, Masashi(7/29/07)

This is to let you know that I received my pen and it is exquisite. It is the best pen I have purchased from you and there have been several before. You set the pen up perfectly. It writes more smoothly than any pen I own. The sword nib is a wonder.  Thank you. Fran Sparagna(7/20/07)

Received the Sailor Nib Unit...When Sailor says 'Fine', they really mean it, don't they...<grin>...
John got the flow just right and it writes beautifully. Thanks again!!
Mike Gebhardt(7/20/07)

Dear John,
It was good to see you again at the Portland Pen Show.  I'm glad we actually had the time to talk this year.  I am still in awe of the Namiki Falcon I got with your modifications for full flex and XX Fine.  It is a superb pen that lays down a nice, wet line.  It has become my daily writer.  I can write in economy mode (normal cursive) for high ink mileage or supercharged (Spencerian) when I wish to sling ink with abandon.  I love this wet writer.
I have attached a picture from the Show.  I can't wait for the next show.  Maybe I'll even make the LA Show in '08.  Until then, I remain,
Your Humble & Inky Servant,
Dave (7/19/07)

Hi Pat,
I just wanted to send John a big "thank you" for the lovely cursive italic Pelikan M800 nib I got from him at the Portland pen show. I traded in my M nib for one of John's reground nibs plus a bit of cash...and I am very pleased with the transaction and the nib. Thanks for your help in this, Pat; I am sure the pen will be used a lot more often now that it has a "Mottishaw'd" nib on it!
Best wishes always,
~Maja

(Ed: this arrived as a hand-written letter on 7/10/07): "Dear John, Pat, Jonella, Sharon, and all:
Thank you very much for this, my new OMAS 2000 Paragon, broad nib with some flex added. I love it and it writes beautifully, but it's a bit of a high-strung racehorse, isn't it? I shall need to tame it (and tame myself). But it's just what I wanted!
And this, the OMAS Blue Royale HT, broad nib with flex and cursive rounded left oblique. Even more so, I shall need to learn how to use it, but thanks to you, I can and will. These pens give me great joy. Thank you, so much! Yours truly, Frank Artusio"

Hi, Pat... Pens arrived home safe and sound yesterday. Love the nibs. Many thanks all around.
Til the next "need"...
Every good wish and happy Fourth,
Best,
bw (07/03/07)

Pat--
The 360 arrived early and I inked it up here at work--it's perfect! The ink flow is no longer like a fire hose and the fine oblique is smooth and subtle, just like a FO should be. Another in an endless series of wonderful nib fixes!...
grins, Dan Carmel (0703/07)
Pat, Thank you very much. Undoubtedly, Namiki is a truly work of art in a fountain pen, that Nightnline Yukari is impressive, I've never had a chance to see one before, only pictures on the internet. And the work that John has done to this NIB is another work of art. Please say thanks to him on my name.
Thanks again for your kindly attentions,
Rafael Harari (07/03/07)

Pat,
The nib arrived this afternoon. This thing is wonderful. As usual, I am much more than pleased with my purchase.
Thanks,
Rich Canova (06/26/07)

Pat I just wanted to tell you that the pen and nib arrived today and they are both awesome!!!! I am so happy.
My thanks you to all of you at Classic Fountain Pens, Inc.
Very Sincerely yours,
Jean (06/27/07)
Hi Pat and John;
I received the pen (Ed: Pelikan M620 Niagara Falls) at 9:30 am this morning. I like the presentation box and I hoped that it would write well also. Wee...it certainly met my expectations: writes smoothly and the ink flows beautifully. This pen fits my hand very well, it is comfortable to write with and I would recommend to anyone; ergonomically designed very well. Of course the important part is the nib and it is simply great.
My best to you both and thank you.
Hal (06/28/07)

(Ed: we received this testimonial as a hand-written note): "Pat & John - I was going to send a reply email to tell you my pen arrived safely home again. Then I stopped to think... what's the point in that? It's all about the fountain pen. So you can see it works just great! I don't know how you fixed it so well and so economically, but I am as happy as I could be. Thanks, again. Mark" (6/13/07)

Hello Pat, Sharon, John.
After three months of lost hopes the pen (Black/White Sailor Pro Gear) has arrived to my door. I really couldn't get any answers from the local post office, so just in case you send pens to Israel next time let the customer know that it could take quite some time if the pen is shipped regular way. I really lost all my hopes waiting for it and thought that it was lost. I was really amazed that it has arrived after so much time without any visible abuse to the package. The wrapping is simply top on the notch. Now to the best part. After unwrapping the package and finding the pen I couldn't wait to begin using it. I was simply blown away by the way it writes. Solid constant flow (even with my jumpy writing style), really nice fine lines. My English simply doesn't provide a way to describe
how happy I am to have such writing instrument in my hands.
Many thanks to John for setting up the pen to suit my writing style. Pat, thanks a lot for your help. Thank you all and I will gladly provide recommendations (not that you really need any) to any Israeli customers you will have in the future.
Thanks a lot.
Stas Pirogov(05/27/07)

Dear Pat,
This is unforgivably overdue, but I want you and John to know how delighted I am with your repair of my Sheaffer pen. The workmanship is just beautiful, and it is so good to be able to use it again! Thank you many times over for restoring my old companion to me in fine fettle.
Ted Brown (06/05/07)

Sharon,
The pen and cases arrived this morning. As for the pen, in addition to being even more impressive in the hand than it is in the photo, it writes beautifully. Please convey my compliments to John for the nib work. And thanks to all of you for a pleasurable buying experience.
Kind regards,
Marc (05/08/07)

Wow, it's here a day early! What a lovely pen (Ed: Wahl Eversharp Doric). Who could imagine it being almost 70 years old, just looking at it? The celluloid is perfect and I've never seen anything like it in a modern pen. It does look like mineral structure, I can understand Sharon's attraction. I've filled it with Waterman Blue Black which gives a nice, vintage look to the writing. That semi-flex fine nib is just about perfect for me, if I can't have one of John's italics.
Thank you all, and especially Sharon, for letting me be the custodian of it for the next generation.
Kent Kochheiser (05/16/07)

Hi Pat,
The Namiki Falcon has arrived! You have done a perfect job. It writes just as I hoped, smooth, with a good flow, little responsive and with enough line variation. Thanks again. When I have another "nibjob" I will let you know for sure.
Best regards from the Netherlands,
Michael Sliedrecht (05/23/07)

Dear Pat (and John!)
The Red Ripple came back yesterday! I was so excited to see it and amazed at how great it looked. I sat down to write out a thank you note--only to realize how awkward & wobbly I was with my very own pen.
Not that I wasn't able to use it--more like for the first time I actually COULD use it! I knew in the beginning I'd be taking a chance with anything that had already been around 80 years, but I thought it would be worth it in terms of potential. I'm just now starting to see that potential.
Thank you so much again and a world of appreciation for all of your kindness and help!
-Margaret Mroczek (05/03/07)

Dear Pat,
Am I to write with the pen? Or just sit back and contemplate it?
Thank you ever so much for what you've done. It is really wonderful to be able to make such a quick and pleasant purchase from far away - and get what one wanted in such a short time!
I'm afraid you will be hearing again from me sometime soon...
Best wishes,
Pedro Mendonca (05/03/07)

Hi:
I received my Namiki Pilot Falcon FP today and absolutely love it! The customized nib, tailored to my writing style, makes using the pen a smooth, enjoyable experience. I have never written with such a fine instrument as this particular pen.
Thank you for providing such fine craftsmanship. I intend to make future purchases from your company.
Regards,
Edward A. Hawks (05/05/07)

Danielle,
My Omas arrived today, and it is wonderful, light weight and beautiful. The nib is luscious, it will become my favorite I'm sure. Thank you again for your great service and let John know that the nib is perfect. Thank you,
Robert Gamburd (05/07/07)

My Pelikan M800 arrived without incident. It’s great to have “old faithful” back! It writes better than ever – the customizations for my writing style make all the difference in the world. Thank you so much for your outstanding work.
Jaimie Henderson (04/30/07)

Pat,
Last week I received the Conklin Endura pencil in Lapis – it’s very beautiful and it is a pleasure to use! Discovering your web-site was like turning down a side street and discovering a wonderful little shop with delightful people! Talking to you was a pleasure; your entire ordering process should be an industry standard...
With pleasure,
John Zientowski (04/30/07)

John, and everyone,
Nibs arrived promptly last week; beautiful work as always; everything fits and writes beautifully.
Ernie Drown (05/02/07)

Hi Pat, it’s here (Ed: OMAS Ogiva, Black/Guilloche). I just inked it up (brought a bottle to work with me for the occasion). It is perfect. Lovely smoothness and wetness. Thank you for taking such care! Karen (05/02/07)

Pat,
I just returned from Toronto this afternoon and the Lamy Persona was waiting for me upon my arrival.I really love the pen.It writes beautifully and I really enjoy the weight and size of the pen.I am so thankful that I went ahead and had the nib ground down. Please express to John how thrilled I am with the job that he masterfully performed.I want to thank everyone again. It is an absolute pleasure dealing with all of you and especially with you Pat!
My sincerest regards,
Rob Redlich (04/25/07)

Dear Pat,
I have been quite remiss in not writing sooner. My vintage 1939 OMAS Extra Lucens is simply wonderful. The ink flow is perfect and the reground modern OMAS 18k stub nib precisely to my liking. Thank John so very much for once again proving his amazing attention to detail and craftsmanship! Writing is a major part of my life, and to do so with a pristine vintage OMAS is very special indeed. All the very best, Harris Saltzburg (04/27/07)

Dear Pat,
I received the pen today! Thank you very much for an excellent job! The pen is 100 time smoother than before! The ink flow is JUST RIGHT! The nib writes flawlessly and smoothly and solidly on a yellow pad I use daily. It's a keeper for me! The lines produced are gorgeous! Once again John did his magic! Please extend my sincere appreciation for his excellent work!
With sincere appreciation,
JK Kim (04/16/07)

Hi Pat,
The pens arrived yesterday. Thank you so much. They are both beauties in their own way, although they couldn't be more different--opposite ends of the fountain pen specturm really. Yet they are both wonderful writers. John's nib on the Lamy is great as usual, and the Conklin writes beautifully-- smooth as silk and just enough flexibility for my lumbering hand.
Thanks for everything,
Alan (04/18/07)

Pat: My "Sailor" with music nib was delivered in good shape about 15 minutes ago (a day ahead of schedule) Very well packaged. I just tested it briefly (with a cartridge) to make sure everything was working properly. It was! Requires only the lightest touch ... good ink flow, and superbly smooth. I'm really going to enjoy this! Now you have me thinking about a normal writing pen ??? Many thanks for the great service and, more importantly, for taking the time to understand what it was that I wanted from a pen. Joe Derrane (04/18/07)

John / Pat:
Yesterday I received my yellow, full-sized Sailor 1911 with a music nib ground to a cursive italic. The pen arrived safely, and the nib writes wonderfully! I do appreciate your keeping on file a handwriting sample I'd sent a long time ago for another nib job, and it's great to receive a pen where the nib and level of ink flow are just right. Wonderful work. Thanks so much.
Julio A. Thompson (04/09/07)

Ed: this arrived as a hand-written note: John: The Grand Place arrived yesterday. It works perfectly. What a beautiful pen, both in appearance and performance. Thank you so much for your help in selecting the pen and configuring the nib. It really does make a difference. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again soon... Steve Noble (04/09/07)

Dear Pat,
My Omas grey paragon fountain pen arrived!! It is beautiful! I love the color, classic look and
the greek key design. The nib is great. I look forward to many happy penning years with
the two Omas pens from you and John.
Thanks so much for the great support and service. I'm really excited to become a "new
fountain pen" enthusiast.
Regards,
Pam (04/12/07)

All,
The pen arrived, it is inked, and I love it! The feel, the design (I love Aurora designs), the color...all perfect. This is why I frequently check the pre-owned section of the website; I would have missed this fabulous Aurora otherwise. Now, if only I could find the OMAS designed by Sottass...and a blue Parker 51...and...
Thanks for your great service. Hope we meet someday.
Be well,
Bob Rogen (03/26/07)

Dear Pat, Sharon, Danielle, and John:
I have had the privilege to work with everyone at your incomparable establishment with the exception of Danielle. In the past several months I have purchased from you a Parker 61, 1929 Parker senior duofold, 1920's lapis Parker duofold jr., Pelican M 400 Brown Tortoise, and now a 1917 Conklin crescent filler. The redoubtable, John, has skillfully modified these pens so that they are all broad to stub with a copious ink flow. All of these pens are receiving constant use and are performing beyond expectation. With enthusiasm, I recommend your firm, without reservation to anyone who requires sales, repair, or modification, of a fountain pen.
Cordially, James J. Sparandeo (03/26/07)

Ed: the following was received as a hand-written note: Dear Pat & John, You are every bit as amazing and talented as the testimonials on your web site indicate. The pen is perfectly tuned for me and the only thing that could improve it is a wider selection of ink colors in cartridges from Sailor.... Thanks, again. Sincerely, Cheryl McCullough (03/27/07)

Hi Pat,
Just a note to let you know the Duofold nibs arrived on Friday. I put in the converter in each nib and put one nib in the Black Duofold and the other in the Orange or "Big Red" and they wrote like "very old friends". For me, they write "perfectly" - very, very smooth and excellent inkflow. You guys have the "magic touch" even on pens you don't normally handle...
Thank you so very much!
Joe Nemedi (03/12/07)

Hello Pat,
I just received the package and true to your promise, the pens write “right out of the box’. The pens are beautiful and your customer service is exemplary! Keep up the good work.
Best Wishes.
Anant Dhotrekar (03/14/07)

Sharon, John - thank you so much. The gorgeous, luminous yellow Sailor 1911 arrived yesterday, and it might be the silkiest, most lovely pen I have ever had the pleasure of using. It feels more like a paintbrush than a pen. I am a customer for life. I will send via mail a writing sample, probably this weekend. Thanks again. Let me know when you have the Sapporos with the music nib - I'll probably buy one of those too. --j (03/23/07)

Hi Pat!
This is Kybor. I want to thank you for your suggestion on customization my M600 Blue Demonstrator Pelikan. It is so beautiful and elegant. I received it one week ago. I tested it, but I did not have a chance to use it fully. Today, I took my pen to the bank to deposit my check. The teller commented that I have a very nice handwriting. And I even used it to write on happy birthday cards. It was so wonderful and addictive when it comes to writing and signing. I've fell in love with Pelikan medium stub nib. It just glides on papers. Thank you for your service and Master John for his magical skills in customizing nibs.
Sincerely,
Kybor (02/24/07)

Hello Pat,
My pen was delivered today – in perfect working condition. It has a "made to measure feel" about it and makes a wonderful replacement for my previous Pelikan that I lost a few years ago. It's like meeting an old friend that has come back to me after a long absence.
I'd like to thank you for your kind and cheerful cooperation.
Yours sincerely,
Albert Edelson (02/27/07)

the nib arrived yesterday. I've been writing with it all morning. It's fabulous. It's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. Larry Sanford (03/02/07)

Hi Pat,
The pens arrived today, in perfect condition [Parker Duofold International (UK) Fountain Pen and Ballpoint – Green Marble]. I inked up the fountain pen and made my first strokes on the paper – it was like velvet. So lovely.
The green marbling on the pens is even more beautiful than the photos captured. My colleagues at work who are also fountain pen enthusiasts are almost as excited as I am to see this pen – I know they will be very jealous! I have, of course, made sure they know all about you folks. With any luck, you may have another few Canadian customers.
Thank you, Pat, for all your kind assistance and patience. You answered all my questions quickly, thoroughly and thoughtfully. And the nib works like a dream. Thank you, John. This has been a very pleasant transaction – I feel as though I have gotten to know you a little bit, rather than merely purchasing a product from you. You can be sure that you will hear from me again.
All best wishes ~ Trisha (02/15/07)

Hi Pat,
I received my Pelikan 800 the other day. It writes smoother that the Montblanc I’ve been writing with for over 20 years (I didn’t think that was possible). PERFECT!
Please give my best to everyone.
Best regards,
Mark (02/15/07)

Hi Pat,
The little Omas couple arrived safely, on the doorstep yesterday. What a “sweet” writing couple, as smooth as the best dark chocolate! UmmmmUmmmm
The best Valentine’s Day gift ever! What an inspiration “How do l love thee, let me count the ways”…Thank you once again for many hours of blissful writing (thanks to John’s expert craftsmanship). There is no doubt these will evolve into the most treasured of loves.
Hugs and Smiles, Shea Stanfield (02/15/07)

Subject: RE: Classic Fountain Pens: Draft Invoice - Response Requested
Today I received the Pilot Vanishing Point with the Medium Cursive Italic nib adjustment. Oh, so that's what a fountain pen is supposed to feel like! This pen is so quirky looking I like it very much already. It writes incredibly nicely.
Problem is, now I would consider having other pens adjusted. My new Parker Duofold and a Shaeffer I like a lot as well. Did I read the web site correctly, the wait for nib work is 6 months? That's sneaky, you know; "Come here kid, the first one is free"....
Regards,
Willy Palmer (02/20/07)

(Ed: all three of the testimonials below arrived as hand-written notes):
John and Pat, Received my pens yesterday. Thank you for making them work so well and look so beautiful. It was well worth the wait. As you can see, the Parker 51 writes beaiutifully. Again... My thanks and appreciation. Ra Scavelli (02/09/07)

Dear Pat, Once again, much thanks to you and John for exceptional service. My new Sailor KoP is awesome! As always, my favorite pen is..... anything Mottishaw! Best regards, Dave Burnette (02/09/07)

Dear John, Thank you for this wonderful pen... You can see how far I have progressed to this point in using it: it has so many possibilities, and ny penmanship improves day by day, vaving such an excellent writing instrument to work with. Thank you! Walter (02/09/07)

Howdy. Got the pen today -- that was fast! Filled it without any problem and immediately put pen to paper. What a difference from using a rolling ball and ball point. The Pelikan seems to glide over the paper with nary a hitch. If you limited me to a one-word description, I would choose the word "smooth." I'll be back for another!
David (02/13/07)

Received my Naginata-Togi. Love it. The "juicier" thing is not a problem. Writes more like a European medium, which I'm used to anyway. Thanks.

Yuan (02/13/07)

To John:
Super job! You haven't lost your touch.
Thanks again,
Alan Becker (02/04/07)

Hello Pat
The Sheaffer Pen has arrived this morning safely in my office. I have already inked it. It writes excellently and very smoothly. Thank you very much for your outstanding service.
Kind regards
Dan (02/07/07)

Pat, The Bronze Arco HT arrived safe and sound today. I can only say that it is an absolutely beautiful pen both in appearance and in the way it writes. It is smooth with a perfectly even ink flow, comfortable in the hand an a pleasure to work with. Thank you so much for sending it so quickly and for the work that was done to fit it to the writing style I described to you.... Again, many thanks for getting this pen to me. I could not be happier with it.
Adrian Gordon (02/07/07)

Subject: My new Pilot... is just perfect! The broad cursive italic is just what I wanted-- there is some thick-thin, but it is not exaggerated, and I can write small with it. And because there is no cap I can use it instead of a pencil for quick one-handed notes. It is the perfect complement to my Pelikan broad stub. As with the Pelkan, Private Reserve Midnight Blues seems to work just fine. Once again, thanks for your help. I can't decide which pen is next.
Regards,
Pete Sampson (01/25/07)

I have received my order, Inv. 18909, for a Sailor pen, in good order. Let me say three words: I love it! It writes just the way I wanted. Thanks for your prompt service and helpful assistance. You have a new loyal customer.
Thanks,
Joan Sutton (01/30/07)

Pat:
Just wanted to let you know that I got the Arco this morning. It is great! Not only is it a gorgeous pen, but it writes like a dream. The nib that John did is by far the best I have ever written with. It is almost wasted on my bad handwriting!
Thanks again,
Andrew Jablon (01/19/07)

Pat,
I just wanted to let you know that I received the pen yesterday and it writes like a dream. Truly a pleasure! Thanks again!
Geoff (01/24/07)

(Ed: this testimonial arrived as a note written with the subject pen/modification) Dear John & Pat - I never dreamed a pen wuold write immediately as if I'd been using it for years. My Sailor Maki-e is tailored to me as if I'd been in your shop for you to see how I wrote. Your wonderful service, excellent website and well-thought-out order form made the process even more pleasant! Thank you so much for a pen that is beautiful, of course, but also a true joy to use. Sincerely, Kathleen Bregand (01/24/07)

Thank you so much to John and everyone who was so helpful to me on the phone and with my order. I LOVE my new pen and find myself writing down even the smallest list just to be able to use my pen. I know that I will be back to have some of my older pens transformed for me as well.
Thank you again to you all for making the entire transaction so easy and the outcome so "awesome".
Leslie F. Gaylord (01/16/07)

Dear Ms. Ackor and Mr. Mottishaw,
The pen arrived today, the perfect, simple, elegant design of the pen is astonishing it that it is truly intentionally understated and the epitome of "less is better" it is good to have a pen that is not distracting and draws attention. I am overwhelmed remarkable fluidity of the pen . On my good paper it has no tooth at all. I used Noodler's Coeur Royal ink. I am more than pleased , it writes very smoothly. I think you over estimated my writing pressure. I haven't twisted, splayed, bent, or destroyed a nib yet to my knowledge. I like to write deliberately. I can't write well if I have the pen just skipping along the paper dancing in air making ornate swirls.
Thank you for this marvelous pen. Fantastico!!!!...
Steven M. (01/16/07)

Dear Nibs Team,
My 87 year old mother was more delighted with this masterful repair than with any other gift I have ever given her. She is hard at work writing to everyone she knows, and fairly crowed at the smooth and familiar tool she has used, according to legend, for over 70 years. As a French friend said about an old and humble bottle of family wine, "It's not so special, but it is VERY special." Thank you for hand-cleaning the nib, and responding so promptly. I will brag on your service for years.... Thanks again,
Ellen Kochansky (01/17/07)

Hi Pat --
Just a note to let you know that the pen arrived on Friday evening. The pen is absolutely gorgeous, and writes like a dream. Please let John know that he did a perfect job on the flow (I don't usually get fine nibs because I like a wet point), but this nib feels like it's riding on air. Thanks again for your help. --Phil (01/17/07)

To all:
I received my Namiki Falcon with extra fine and flexible nib much sooner than I had expected, and what a pleasure it is to write with. I cannot tell you what a pleasure it was doing business with you; certainly a rare experience these days!... Thanks again!
From frigid Colorado,
Mark Clancy (01/12/07)

Dear Pat, The pen writes wonderfully well. I am delighted with the way it writes and flows so effortlessly. I am really looking forward to using the Omas as my "additional" daily pen. THANK YOU for a great job done! Besides writing well, it is also a very good looking pen!

Pat... I got the pen... I love it... This is the first M600 I've owned, and I'm not sure how I ever lived without it.... You have a great company with a level of customer service I haven't ever received even from other pen sellers... Thanks again,
Ray Johnson (01/11/07)

I rec'd the Mont Blanc FP and it is a beautiful addition to my collection. I just inked it for the first time today and it writes like on air. Thank you so much for the prompt service and the opportunity to purchase this pen. Dave K. (01/10/07)

Well, Pat, my pen arrived about an hour ago and I'm fairly certain my projects for this afternoon will be tomorrow's projects.
The stub was an excellent choice: now that I've tried it I'm certain I could handle the cursive italic nib, but I don't believe I could write as quickly or fluently. I suspect for my next pen I'll try the Falcon in cursive italic. I'm using Private Reserve Midnight Blues and I couldn't be much happier with either the pen or the ink.
Regards,
Pete Sampson (1/05/07)

(Ed: this arrived as a hand-written note:) To my friends at Classic Fountain Pens, Inc., Thank you for the work by John Mottishaw on the Pelikan nib. Never have I enjoyed writing with a pen as much as I do now with custom crafted stub nib... this was definitely worth the wait. Your business and service is one of the best kept secrets around, if word spreads you would have to clone more persons to do such great work.... Don Dunn (12/21/06)

Pat: Forgive me the delay in getting back to you after the pen arrived. I have not really begun to work with it in any sustained way and I am just starting to get a feel for the work that John has managed. I am already certain that this may be one of those pens that I just can not wait to write with because the cursive italic is superb and the feel of the nib on the paper is extraordinarily smooth and responsive. Thank you again for excellent service, pass along my gratitude to John
best wishes,
Steven (12/19/06)

Hi Sharon,
The nib arrived today, and it is beautiful! I really appreciate John’s level of workmanship and attention to detail. The crack repair is virtually invisible. I won’t install it until next week (taking a few days off for the holidays), but I’m sure it will work perfectly.
Thank you,
Tom Pike (12/18/06)

Hi Pat... I received the Omas Autuno with the John modification of the nib about a week ago. I have wanted to really have an opportunity to use before telling you how much I love it. First it is beautiful, in an of itself. I find it a "light pen" or alternatively it doesn't have "heft" so I have had to adjust the pressure I use to write with it. This is an observation, not a criticism.
The medium cursive modification that John did I think is amazing. I am not an expert using nibs like this but it certainly writes much more smoothly than I anticipated and has the "character" that I wanted.... Peter (12/13/06)

Dear Pat/John,
I received the package yesterday, perfect service.I test the omas Ingegno and the pelikan ib:perfect ink flow, flexibility, smooth, great job,you have completely understood my requests... Thanks,
best regards,alberto (12/14/06)

I have the nib (Ed: Parker 75 #98 Broad Formal Italic), and have been using it (with green ink) for Christmas cards. What a delight to have this pen write well - I was convinced that it was an ornery thing! Next year, perhaps I'll want a medium nib too... Thanks for a great nib, and such courteous service.

Dear Pat and John,
My new 2005 Omas Paragon with the BB Left Oblique nib arrived yesterday while I was at work. I got home late and was very tired, so I decided not to open the box (difficult to do, but I did wait) until this morning. It was nice to wake up today and have this anticipation of testing out the Paragon and Oblique nib.
It is great! The nib cut is perfect for me; I think John did a great job of matching the grinding to my writing style. I love the pen. It's got a little heft to it, but not so much to tire my hand and the size is a perfect size for me. From the web pictures, I was afraid that the clip on the cap would protrude too much, but it's quite attractive and actually enhances the pen nicely, I think.
Thanks for the great work and the fast shipment of my Christmas present!
Kind regards,
Bruce Bailey (12/23/06)

Hi Pat,
Thank you for... being so efficient... This incident illustrates the extraordinary customer service you all provide, service that is becoming so rare in the world of big-box life. I wish we could clone your actions.....Happy New Year!
Appreciatively,

John and Pat,
I've just returned from a week out of town and, as promised, your package was waiting for me. Thanks to you, a grand, old pen has returned to life. I'm absolutely delighted to have my writing partner in hand again. Michael (11/29/06)

Hi Pat and John
Received my red Pelikan Souveran 800 today. I am very pleased with its smoothness, ink flow, ink capacity and exquisite good looks. It actually glides over the paper more easily than my dear departed Omas MOMA pen.I am very glad that I took a chance on this without trying it out first. Will send you my old Mont Blanc for adjustments after I get through grading the mountain of exams and papers before me.
Best!
Mark Levy (12/06/06)

Sharon, I love the pen, the nib was the right choice. ) The ink is perfect as well, I thought it might be too light and bright, but it isn't. Perfecto Mundo!!! Thank you so much for your help.
Philip Johnson (12/07/06)

Hi Pat
The Arco arrived Monday morning our time. Wow! the celluloid is simply stunning on this pen (can’t stop looking at it). Truly worth persevering to eventually get this Omas; the 360 too clunky and deco, the Autunno a little too feminine and fancy for my taste. The nib set up is also perfect – please pass on my compliments to John. Thanks for your help and great service in setting this transaction up.
Best regards
Bob (11/26/06)

Dear Pat and Sharon,
Thank you for the meticulous care and precision with which you unfailingly mediate my vision of a pen's characteristics and John or Danielle's crafts(person)ship. The Dupont Orpheo arrived half an hour ago, and though I am busy preparing to give a graduate seminar, I just had to try out the pen. Let me dispense with the superlatives and simply say this: I'm tempted to skip class and sit home all day writing "happy holiday" notes to myself. You've taken an expensive, beautiful but "runny" and characterless fountain pen and turned it into a marvelous writer.
Sincere thanks for yet another superb job, and happy holidays to everyone there.
Jim Fujii (11/27/06)

(Ed: this arrived on 11/28/06 as a hand-written letter)"Mr. Mottishaw: Just a note of thanks to let you know how much I'm enjoying the Pelikan 3B nib you folks sent me recently. The nib is very smooth and writes like a dream. We'll do business again! Cordially, Doyle Phillips

(Ed: this arrived as a letter written with the described pen) Hello John & Pat, I want to express my complete satisfaction with a Sailor 1911 I examined at the Portland Pen Show and purchased soon after. I use it primarily for short notes, signatures, addressing correspondence. My primary choice for longer letters is still the Montblanc #146 which John repaired last year. I write to remain in contact with old friends, and I usually reserve an hour or two in the evening to relax with pen & paper. Thank you for another valued writing tool. I look forward to the Portland Pen Show in 2007, when I will probably purchase another gem like this! John's craftsmanship on this nib, combined with Sailor's inherent quality, equips me with an instrument I will treasure for years to come. Thank you. Respectfully, Ed Palumbo (11/15/06)

Hi Pat,
I want to thank you and John again for taking care of me and my Paragon. The pen is now writing perfectly and the nib is wonderful. Right from the first email to the return, you guys were on top of this like it was a matter of national security... Thanks again and have a nice Thanksgiving.
Until the next pen,
John Cullen (11/20/06)

Hi Pat,
Just got the desk pen that John repaired. It is just amazing. Can't tell that it was ever broken. Fabulous job. Please convey my thanks to John. Will make a wonderful Christmas present - 2nd time around!! - for my wife...
Peter (11/23/06)

Danielle,
The beautiful Bronze Arco arrived! It looks great and the cursive italic nib letters just right – even smoother than I imagined. You all did a fabulous job of working with me. I’ll send a handwritten note after you are settled into the new office....
Thanks!
Al Causey (11/02/06)

Hi Pat:
This is Jorge. The pen arrived Wednesday night with no problem. It is prettier and writes better than I expected. And the flow is just, just perfect! When I got it I tried it and thought, How come I've never had a pen that flowed so well? It took me a couple of hours to remember that it had been adjusted just for me. Thanx a lot. Jorge (11/09/06)

(Ed: this arrived as a handwritten letter) Dear Mr. Mottishaw,
You are my first recipient of a letter using the olde green Sheaffer Snorkel pen which you have clearly restored to working order. The nib is smooth to the page, with just enough drag to make it feel I am doing something.... It feels good to have it in my hand again. Thank you very much.
Sincerely Yours,
Loren L. Johnson (10/30/06)

Hi Pat and John: The M600 with the Dos Ojos nib arrived today. I very much like
the nib. The flexibility is terrific and it is "wet" without any pressure which
I like. Thanks, Len Kaban (10/20/06)

Hi Pat,
Well, it arrived and it's gorgeous! (Ed: a Pelikan 1935 Lapis) Almost too pretty to ink. But I did anyway. So far I've only written a few lines with the oblique nib but it's wonderful. John did a great job for me of finding the sweet spot. I love the line size from the .7 and get enough variation with it to add some character to my poor handwriting. I'm going to have a lot of fun learning to get the best from it but on such a light and responsive pen, I really feel like I can write with it all day. I can't wait to try the flexible fine nib, that will be an entirely new experience.
Thanks again!
Kent Kochheiser (10/23/06)

Hi Pat...
The pens arrived in fine condition. I just filled the Lominchay, and think it is perhaps wrong to ask if I'm happy. Actually, I'm ecstatic! The nib is probably as close to perfection as anything I could ever hope for. It is a wonderful writing pen. Wow!...Thanks again for a fantastic job.
Ron Hill (10/24/06)

Pat
My two fountain pens arrived whilst I was in London. I have now filled them and written with them and they are, as usual, exactly right (or maybe exactly write?). Thanks again for the superb service-it is worth the wait.
George Heitczman (10/14/06)

Dear Pat,
This morning I received the Sheaffer Balance with the new medium nib. It couldn't be better! The line matches my hand writing perfectly and the nib and flow are as smooth as I could imagine. Great job! By the way, the pen was really cleaned up and especially the gold filled parts in which much of the brassing seems to have been removed. It really shines!...
Best wishes,
Ron Butow (10/16/06)

Hi Danielle and everyone!
My beautiful red Sailor 1911 arrived today. I love it--everything: the color, the feel of the pen, the smooth line the nib expresses. I would have had more trepidation about buying over the Internet if I hadn't felt reassured by the passion and knowledge evident both on your website and on the phone. This kind of connoisseurship and personal service is a rare, wonderful thing in today's world.
Thank you so much!
Miriam van Werkhoven (10/17/06)

Dear Pat,
I just wanted to let you know that my new pen arrived yesterday. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am with it. It really is the perfect shorthand pen, and I know it will get many, many hours of use. It doesn't even compare to the Esterbrook I was using.

I'm astounded that John was able to customize the nib so perfectly (and on the very first try) only by looking at the two samples I sent and reading my e-mails. He must be telepathic (or perhaps he was a Pitman shorthand writer in another life!)....
Thanks so much again to both of you.
Take care,
Josh (10/10/06)

Hi, Pat.
Have spent a solid couple of weeks with the Omas Arco, so can give some true considered feedback. Visually, the pen is a delight. The celluloid is very beautiful and the appearance of the pen changes depending on the angle of view and the lighting.
The italic effect that John has conjured up is more marked than that from the Sailor Hagi-Bush, but I am very happy with it. My leftie style does not lend itself to much pencraft, and as such, I really like the effect that the nib produces automatically.
The nib feel is not as silky smooth as the Sailor or Namiki Bamboo that John has previously modified for me, but this is probably more to do with the fundamental shape difference of the European pens versus the Japanese pens. Having said this, I am happy with the ink flow and reliability.
All up, a very happy and satisfied customer!
All the best from down under,
Tom G. (Perth, Australia) (10/12/06)

I got the package in a day or so, I'm using the nib and it's as perfect as I can imagine. Thank you very much. Kathy Klyce (9/24/06)

Dear Pat,
The pens have arrived safely.
I'm so pleased with these beautiful pens.
I already have a Snorkel in gray.
They will become my favorite Snorkel brother.

Thanks so much for your business.
Have a great day,
Daisuke (9/27/06)

Dear Pat,
My new pan arrived this morning safe and sound (though with a VAT bill, can’t avoid the TAX man). It’s writing beautifully, I thing the broad stub was a good choice. I shall look forward to trying it out over the coming days. Thanks again for all your help, an excellent service all round. Yours,
Liam Colleran (9/29/06)

Dear Pat and John,
The Omas pen finally arrived this afternoon, and it is splendid. The nicest pen I have ever owned. Beautifully ground. Thanks so much, John. I wish you had ground my other pens (half a dozen only). And thanks too very much for the statement about pen repair, etc. It all worked well....
Happy Canadian thanksgiving!
Stanford Patrick (10/06/06)

Dear Pat,
Sorry for my delay in responding. Sometimes the middle of the month can be hectic. I received the Pelikan and 1911 on Thursday last, a day earlier than promised. Thank you getting them to me so quickly. I got to use the 1000 with the O3B to stub conversion to sign paychecks. What a hoot. I absolutely love what it does to my signature. I have already had to refill it three times in five days just because I get such a kick out of trying different character sets with it to see how the letters will look. I give you an A+ on a great nib and fun pen. I also am quite pleased with the Sailor EF nib. I was a bit unsure how I would like it when I ordered it, being one enamored with big pens with big lines, but I find myself looking for places to use the EF. It is as smooth as promised and a welcome alternative to the usual medium I usually use for smaller writing. Overall two very nice and enjoyable pens. Again, very well done. Thanks for making fountain pens fun and exciting.
A.Blad (9/20/06)

Hi Pat,
I received the pen and have been trying it out all evening. Wow. It's the difference between a butter knife and true cutlery. It will take some adjustment in my penmanship, but I can see a remarkable difference already. Thanks so much for your quick turnaround on this order. Truely a magnificent instrument!
Sincerely,
- Mike (9/20/06)

(Ed: this arrived as a letter printed in calligraphic italic:) Dear All, I thought that I should write briefly to say how delighted I am with the pen that arrived last week, It is exactly what I wanted and the nib has a flexibility that I have not been able to find for a very long time - since the days of the Swan "Calligraphic" - I'm talking some 50 years or more ago. Again, my many thanks for your great service. Yours, Bill Bryant (9/2/06)

Hi Pat- Just wanted to let you know that my husband absolutely loves his pen. It is his new favorite, second to his favorite Pelikan with a custom nib by John. Thanks for all your help. Michele Babaie (9/11/06)

Hi Pat and Danielle,
Just got to my computer, wanted to send word that the three new arrivals were patiently waiting on my doorstep Friday when I got home from work. I have been playing with them all weekend. Each and everyone is a star performer. Thanks a bunch you guys are the greatest. Smiles, Shea Stanfield (9/11/06)

I received my Sailor 1911 Colors red pen. I really love it! It writes very smoothly and is perfect for my writing needs. Thanks again!
Tania Tulcin (9/1/06)

Pat: The pen arrived on Friday and it is magnificent. I am so very pleased that I could get such a perfect instrument for my work. Please thank John for getting to this when he was trying to get out of town for a much deserved vacation.
Thanks again for another great job,
Steven (9/5/06)

The pen arrived in pristine condition a little while ago. It writes wonderfully and is set up perfectly for me. Yall are geniuses there. Many thanks. I am a happy customer.
Robin Johnson (9/6/06)

Dear Pat & John,
I got my pens yesterday – thanks for getting them out and in my hot little hands so quickly. The Spencerian customization of the M805 is masterful – I only hope my technique is up to its capabilities. The yellow 1911 is certainly an eye-popping beauty – yeow, is it bright! As always, thanks for the friendly service; it’s a pleasure doing business with you.
-Brian Kerns (8/25/06)

Dear Danielle and Pat:
Thank you for all the arrangements in securing the black version of the OMAS Milord. This is the pen I admire and wanted; and with the polished facets, it radiates with beauty. I enjoy looking at it as well as using it!
It writes beautifully and was adjusted nicely...
I'll stop by the booth at the next L.A. pen show. Thanks again for the friendly and informative service.
Bill Favata (8/28/06)

Ed: this one arrived as a note written with the subject pen: Re: Shady Lady! I am really, really, really, really, by the way did I say: really really happy with the nib! Splendid artistry! Earl. P.S. I am holding the pen so lightly that by the time I finished writing this it had floated away to another room. (9/1/06)

Pat and John and all ----Many thanks --- LOVE, LOVE, TRULY LOVE my new Sailor 911 silver pen!
James St. Cloud (8/20/06)

Dear Pat,
The big, broad, 7-30 nib safely and swiftly arrived today. Naturally, it fit perfectly and writes like a dream : )
You guys (and gals...) ROCK!
Thanks for the wonderful (as always) service!
Best regards,
Andy Sonnemaker (8/23/06)

Pat,
I love, love my new Parker pen! Please pass on to John my appreciation for delivering exactly what I asked for... My experience with your company has been a pleasure and I look forward to sending you a sketch in the near future.
Respectfully yours,
Jim Vakalopoulos (8/13/06)

Hi Pat and John,
The pen arrived on Sat and writes just like my other Sailor EF nib - ie perfect! The Sailor does have the finest ef nib of any that I have ever come accross which is a joy. The bright yellow color is just so cool :)...
Many thanks again for your great service!
Kenn (8/14/06)

Pat/John
I just got the pen from Michael. He restored the pen to looking brand new and installed the nib that John did. It writes beautifully. Extremely smooth, beautiful lines in all directions. I’ve thanked Michael in a separate email and I want to thank you and John for great service and superb craftsman/person/ship. Thank you also for going the extra step in coordinating and overcoming the logistical obstacles. As always, top notch.... Take care, thanks for doing what you do so well.
Mike Alter (8/7/06)

(Ed: we received the following as a letter on 7/10/06)
Dear Pat, Danielle and John, I just wanted to let you know that the Sailor 1911 International arrived on time. As expected, the pen is perfect! Please update my account info to have every pen I get from you in the future write just like this one. Aside from the best writing experience I've ever experienced, the look of this mocel is quite bearable... basic black suits this pen well... As usual, your service was excellent. Thank you for this great pen! Regards, Dan Gillette

Pat, John, et al,
The yellow full size Sailor 1911 pen, the tortoise Waterman pen, and the black Omas Paragon .7mm pencil arrived yesterday as promised. After looking at the big yellow cigar pen on my desk, I am puzzled at why the Parker Mandarin yellow pen of the late 1920’s was so unpopular. Both the Sailor and Waterman wrote quite well immediately. They will be in my regular writing rotation. The Omas pencil works as advertised; it will be a permanent addition to my pencil drawer.
Thanks for the excellent service. Have a good summer
Dick Loyd (7/18/06)

Pat:
I apologize for not writing sooner -- my computer was zapped by a lightning storm two weeks ago and I'm finally back on line tonight. The Parker 51 and... I'm extremely pleased with the pen!!! Thanks again to you and John for an absolutely superb writing experience! The pen floats over the paper like I'm writing with a beam of light....
David Budde (7/26/06)

Pat-
Got the pen yesterday and it writes beautifully! The new nib and section are working perfectly. I am very pleased! Thank you to you and John for a job well done. I've had that pen since 1974, so it is a genuine pleasure to be using it again.
Andy (7/9/06)

Pat:
I got the new Sailor a couple of days ago. You and John are great! I love the weight and balance with the cap posted and the nib customization is, as always, superb! Thanks again.
Regards,
Howard L. Gum (7/11/06)

Dear Pat,
Received the pen today and it's wonderful. Thanks so much for having John 'tweak' it, it writes like a dream. Exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Tara Wheeler (7/12/06)

Subject: my M800
I got the pen today, filled it with Mont Blanc Blue/Black, and love it. The extra fine line this nib is capable of is truly remarkable. I did note that this nib does not take much pressure at all to flex into a pleasing Spencerian line. I love it.
Thanks again,
Stew Hastings (7/7/06)

Hi Pat,
I received the M320 this morning. What a great little pen -- it's so pretty! It writes perfectly & I could not be more pleased overall.
I think that I now have a new addiction and will definitely be doing business with you again. :) Thanks again for a great transaction!
Jina (7/7/06)

I received the package and everything worked out well. I think I can definitely get used to medium points ... it's a very smooth writer.... The medium on the Milord especially is working out great ... I can get good control over the line thickness with pressure changes ... almost like having a flex nib.
Also the reconditioned nib on the 360 is writing beautifully. In fact I think it's turning out to be the best writing pen I have!
Thanks again. Peter H. Park (two messages, 6/17/06)

(Ed: the following arrived on 6/29/06 as a handwritten letter) Dear Pat, I am writing to say how pleased I am with my (latest) customized nibs... It was with a bit of trepidation that I first tried out the two Pelikan nibs, as it has taken a while to work out what would be best for me (thank you for your patience and understanding along the way!) but I have to say the result was exactly what I was looking for.
The broad customized to a right oblique stub is perfect for my daily writing. I use it mostly at work and the M605 is an ideal sized pen to use. The right oblique allows my writing to have a more "italic" look with much more line variation than any other type of nib I have tried.
The triple broad customized to a right oblique crisp italic is just wonderful to use in the 800. I was sticking my neck out a bit with this one, but it is more than I had hoped for, and I just love the result for handwritten correspondence and signatures.
I was expecting the crisp italic to be much more difficult to use but it isn't at all. It writes beautifully somoothly for me. Truly John is a master of his art!
Both nibs have transformed my writing in a way I never thought would be possible. So, thank you from a Doctor who's been struggling to improve his handwriting. Yours Sincerely, Neil Aiton

Dear Pat, Danielle and John,
Without a doubt, very wonderful work! I received the nib last week and gave it to Valerie - she was thrilled and gained a new level of love for her pen... please know that I am extremely pleased with the entire experience that you have given me. The extremely quick turn around, excellent quality of workmanship and wonderfully pleasant and professional communication with you all was truly top notch! Thanks again!
Semper Fi, Allen Thomas (6/8/06)

Danielle, Pat, and John -
Many thanks for the great pen. I received it yesterday evening and am very impressed. I think it has a stately elegance (Ed: an OMAS Venice Blue Milord), and writes very smoothly. I really appreciate your friendly and fast service.
Thanks again,
Thomas Leath (6/10/06)

(Ed: this arrived as a hand-written note:) Dear Pat! Just a quick note to Thank you and John for all the wonderful pens and nibs. My current favorite is this Rhodium Ogiva with the great BB cursive italic nib. It seems happiest with this Waterman Florida Blue ink. Thanks again. I can't wait to see that Autunno Celluloid! Best regards, Kent Kochheiser (6/12/06)

Dear Pat and John,
Thanks so much, they arrived safely wed around 530 and so far I have been playing with them all the time and see no fault with the work. They write beautifully and I’m very happy! The repair work on the cracks you can hardly see, great work! It is so great to do business with you, Pat and John, I think you are wonderful!
Again, thanks so much and take care!
Dennis Weathers (6/16/06)

Hi Pat, Just had to send you a brief note to let you know how pleased I am with my Omas blue royale since the recent nib modification. This pen has very quickly become my favorite...and it indeed is perfect!
Thanks for your help,
Joseph Lambert (5/25/06)

Dear Pat:
The M800 Cursive Italic nib unit arrived and much to my shock and surprise, it is fully acceptable!
For the nth time (I've lost count) John has gotten lucky when altering a nib for me. He must have a very large pocket full of rabbit's feet. I'm beginning to suspect skill may be involved but I don't want to go out on a limb ...
Thanks,
George Feyerabend (5/25/06)

Hi Pat, Danielle, and John -- I received the pen yesterday and love it! Also, I've never enjoyed
spending money over the phone so much . . . I was impressed by the way you approach pen selling and can't wait until I can order my Sailor extra-fine nib pen!
Thank you so much!
Mairi (5/26/06)

Hello Pat,
I received the modified Pelikan. Just as you promised, it writes like a dream. The ink flow is just right, and you were right when you recommended a .7 coursive italic nib. On paper such as in my Moleskine notebooks, this fountain pen gives me a zen feeling.
Thank you very, very much.
P.S.
Make me proud: you can use this as a testimonial on your website. :)
Adrian Ionescu (5/27/06)

Pat and John -- Wow! I just opened the Ogiva broad oblique and the nib is wonderful. Very smooth, perfect inkfow, very interesting line. The pen is fabulous!... You guys are amazing. Thanks again for all you do!
Mike Sampson (5/18/06)

Danielle,Pat and John
My Pelikan 800 14 C XFine Xflex nib arrived today finally the anticipation was over it had arrived.
I quickly grabbed my 800 ready with ink and carefully removed the 18 C factory XF nib and installed the flex nib. First I started with a note book not great paper, it was nearest my chair. I was very pleased with the line and flow using a light touch, even with the cheap paper. Next I had to try it out with my pocket pad carried on a daily basis, this calls for small print and the nib came through with flying colors. I attribute this not only to the flex you added which gives me the added advantage of a multinib according to pressure applied but also how the flow and flex are so tuned to my writing style and this from a friendly conversation over the phone.
Thanks to the nibs.com team
Well pleased,
Craig Sirles (5/19/06)

Hi Pat -
The nib has arrived, and it's wonderful. I'm having no trouble at all with the fine italic. I can write as fast as I'm used to, and it gives a nice variation of width, despite the very fine line. Your cursive italics are really good day-to-day writing nibs.
Kind regards,
Steven Olson (5/24/06)

Pat...
I AM THRILLED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THE M805 AND THE CUSTOMIZATION SUITS MY HAND PERFECTLY. Sorry about the shouting but I really am very pleased with your service, prices, friendliness, information and above all John's customization. It has exactly the stroke width I wanted and while it is not quite as smooth as the Stipula I use, it is overall the best pen I have ever used. Thanks again.
I am not a collector of pens I just use them, so I don't know when we will do business together again. I will not forget everything you did for me and I will certainly pass the word amongst my pen friends. Thanks again.
Peter Lockwood (6/1/06)

Dear Pat and John,
thank you very much for complete restoring my favorite Red-Dust Striped Parker Duofold (from the year 1946) and retipping also the nib of my Swan Eternal no. 4460 (year 1949) in the ball-typed broad version. Both are writing in the very comfortable soft way that I had wished. Pat was always in contact with me giving patiently advice to clear many special questions that I presented her about these two pens and around the topic. I am very happy now to take the striped Parker and additionally the black Swan for my daily use. With such marvelous nibs one could write easily 100 pages without stopping. The both pens look like in the historic condition in which they might have been 70 years ago, but I doubt if they have ever written so smooth because of the firmer alloy that we have nowadays. John's individual skills and knowledge are worth to be handed over to the future and one can only hope that you will find disciples to continue the otherwise dying tradition of nib masters.
With my best recommendations
Dr. Dieter Wolf from Hamburg, May 12th 2006

May 17th, 2006
To Pat Ackor and John Mottishaw: many thanks for the pen which I picked up last Thursday, May 11th, from my N.Y. State postal Box. I am very impressed by the pen but, most of all, by your excellent service... I also appreciate your adjustment for the flow, which is just fine. I do not think there is a better place to do business than you. I look forward to do business with you in the near future.
Henri Lemyre (5/17/06)

Thanks Pat
The nib arrived and I can't thank you guys enough. Its writes amazingly beautiful. I will be sending you another nib soon.
best regards
Greg (5/18/06)

Dear Pat,
I received the pen and it writes like a dream. I knew there was some life left in the nib, which had to be teased out. Now it's like having an old friend back. Well worth the wait; and it's not like I had nothing to write with in the meantime ;)
Thank you so much,
Derek Weiler (5/5/06)

Dear Pat and John,
The pens arrived yesterday and I'm thrilled with the results. You do GREAT work! I'm also thrilled that you were able to return them two months earlier than expected! I'm going to Ireland in a few weeks and now I can take one of the pens with me... Thanks again - I couldn't be happier with the results. Also, your whole process for communication with the customer and then doing the actual work is the best!
All the best,
Pam Thimmes (5/10/06)

Good Morning,
The pen is loaded and writes exactly as I had hoped. Congratulations to you for capturing my rambles on what I'd like, and for John's execution. You are a model of customer service. Thanks for the wonderful experience, and the great pen. Real writing will follow.
Best wishes, and thanks again,
Gary Bartosiewicz" (5/11/06)
(Ed: on 5/15, this written note arrived:) Hello All~ Thank you for making the purchase of my Arco, and its custom nib, such a wonderful experience. Ordering couldn't have been easier, or friendlier. The nib is crisp without being sharp, and writes better than my handwriting deserves. The pen and your service put you at the top of the field. I'll be back! Best wishes, Gary

Pat,
The customized Sailor 1911 with Medium/Fine nib arrived today. My goodness! I was delighted; the pen exceeds my expectations. It seems to glide across the paper, almost like it had it's own spirit to move it. I am glad we decided on the Medium/Fine instead of the Medium. It is perfect.Thank you so much... Also, thank you for including information about the pen clubs. I am fairly new to all of this (even though I actually learned to write with a fountain pen as a child), and I think I'll join a club. Seems like a good way to learn a lot.
John Clarkson (4/27/06)

Got my pen back earlier this week. I am EXTREMELY satisfied. Writes more smoothly and w/ less effort than before I broke it. I'm going to go drop my other pens on the floor now so I can have ya'll fix them for me. Thanks much!!
Steve Waldo (4/27/06)

Just wanted to check back with you and say again what a wonderfull thing you all do in pen
nib repairs . . . its a blessing having you there "the Red Cross" of Fine Pens !!!!! thanks again for the great repair on my Mont Blanc Pen . . . something our friends at MB could not do . . . best regards, Bryan (4/19/06)

Dear Pat: Well, hose me down with ice-water: John's done it again! No surprise, of course. Yes, the Pelikan 800 EF nib arrived yesterday in good order, and I installed it this morning. Compared to the erstwhile EF nib I wrote you about this one writes "like butter"! As you warned, though, it's not like a Sailor EF nib ... quelle dômage. But the flow of ink is Homeric (I've decided to stay with Aurora) and now it's up to me to soup up my hand-writing. I propose to use my Pelikan 800 as my heaviest-use fountain-pen from now on. Zowie!
Regards to John (whom I've yet to 'phone-meet) and Danielle (with whom I chatted briefly two days back). Michael Berg (4/20/06)

Pat, the Edson arrived yesterday and is wonderful. He really works magic! I enjoy the feeling of the stub nib, especially on such a bold pen. I'll be on the lookout for anymore special twists to be put on other pens in my collection.
Sincerely,
Joshua Edwards (4/21/06)

Dear Pat and John, I just picked up my Pelikan Demonstrator pen at the post office today. I was delighted at the first sight---and even more so at the first stroke! The size of the pen, the balance, nib width, ink flow---all superb! I am sure my journaling efforts will increase as I look forward to the sheer pleasure of writing with my new favorite pen.
Thanks so much for your help and for supplying such a fine product and service.
Sincerely,
Greg Eanes (4/24/06)

My pen arrived this morning, and it felt like the return of an old friend. The new nib is much more suitable to my small and rather crabbed handwriting. Thanks again for being so helpful.... km" (then, in a second message:) "You are certainly welcome to quote me on your web site if you wish.... I didn't really say much however. What I would have said, had I known you wished to use my words, would have been something like this: dealing with your company has been a most pleasant experience, almost like shopping at a clothing store where the staff is attentive and knowledgeable and more interested in the client's needs and desires than in making a sale. In the not too distant future I intend to have you help me select a pen for my son's birthday. Thanks again. Ken McRae (4/13/06)

Hi Pat!
I received the nib and it is fantastic! Just what I wanted. Thank you so much for taking the time to make sure this nib was right for me. I'm so glad I spoke with you.
Have a wonderful day!
Jason (4/17/06)

(Ed: we received this testimonial as a snail mail letter) Dear Merry Nibsters, Well, another tour de force! This new Sailor 1911 with extra fine nib is awesome! I loaded the converter with Florida Blue and just took off. No skips, no starving, nothing; just a fine, smooth line. It is as smooth or smoother than any of the Pelikans you have done for me... Anyway, thanks for the personal service and another great nib... Regards, Michael Brown (4/18/06)

Pat-
The pen arrived yesterday. I’m completely pleased. Each time I send a pen to John I do so with the highest expectations. And each time his work exceeds my expectations. The workmanship and customer care from Classic Fountain Pens is truly classic! I thank you!
Lelan McLemore (4/18/06)

Pat, you and John have done it again! Fantastic result. Just the perfect nib for me, enough line variation to be interesting, not at all fussy to write with, wet but not too wet, I loved the pen originally, now it's better than ever.... Thanks again so much...
Kent Kochheiser (4/11/06)

Hi Pat, I got the pen, I am very happy with the work. (I was the one that dropped it ...) It writes very well. Thanks for the all the work. I've filled it with red ink and am going to use it to grade assignments. Mike (4/12/06)

Dear Pat,
I received the pen(s) and used the new one yesterday and everything is set right. I now have a pen with good design lines and good writing lines. I thank you and John for your careful work and
patience.... (Ed: in a second email) I am very happy with the pen. I guess the only long term problem is that I can only write with one at a time and it may be some time before I need another fine pen. Again, thank you for your care and attention. You might add this last sentence and part of this one because it really shows that you and the other folks in your company really care about your products and service. That is an uncommon combination these days, especially when transactions are remote and not in person.
Mark Brombeg (4/13/06)

Dear Pat,
Thank you so much for your kind, courteous, and prompt service. The pen, Sailor-fine point-1911, is so nice to write with. I have been using it for marking papers and use the violet ink. It writes just right, small enough for margins, yet large enough to see. It has worked out great. Several of my
friends, and my son, have tried to "borrow" it already. I see more purchases in the near future. Again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Darrell De Loach (3/27/06)

Pat and John:
Wow - writing nirvanna - my babies are performing perfectly. What a joy to use them again. They sure don't come from the factory/store with such performance. I am looking forward to getting the others back from you... My other pens are going to find there way to you soon.... Thanks again for such great service
Tom Scott (3/28/06)

Got the pen tonight (Ed: Sailor 1911 Sterling). It is very nice and smooth--just as I imagined. It's great. It's almost too pretty to use....I have bought pens from many sources and I am by far the most satisfied with your service and quality setup of the pens.
Stephen E. McGaughey (3/30/06)

(Editor: this arrived as a hand-written letter on 3/30/06): Dear Danielle & John, I just received my OMAS 360 Vision and wanted to say Thank You for the excellent service. Believe it or not, I received the pen just one day after placing my order. The pen itself is beautiful. It writes wonderfully and the medium nib is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again for all your help. Best regards, Dom

Pat,
I received the nib on Thursday. I installed the nib, inked the pen, and true to form it wrote beautifully from the start. I have written with an italic nib before but not with a custom ground Pelikan nib. My handwriting is beautiful! Please thank John for me. He is a true artisan and craftsman. Also my thanks to you for the kind and friendly way that you approach your work and for the advice that you are able to provide.
Craig Edwards (3/17/06)

Dear John and Pat,
Please forgive my tardiness in not acknowledging sooner the receipt of my customized cursive italic double broad Pelikan nib... I successfully installed my new nib... and when the installation was complete my Pelikan 1000 was transformed into the most extraordinary writing instrument I have ever owned. I couldn't be more delighted. Everything about the new nib was exactly as we had discussed over the phone and in the subsequent e-mails.
My thanks to both of you--to John for working his magic once again and to Pat for making the whole ordering process such a pleasure.
Most Sincerely,
B. Michael Herman (3/19/06)

Hi Pat,
I received the pen, and I am astounded at how smooth it is. This writing experience has completely reset my expectations for standard, round-tipped nibs. Out of curiosity, how much work did John have to do to make it perform so well? Never have I encountered an off-the-shelf pen that has even come close.
Thanks again!
Dave Shin (3/21/06)

Dear Pat:
I received the Sailor 1911 "Colors" yesterday and am amazed. I'd heard that John was the best around and so it proved. The nib and flow are obviously set perfectly because the pen writes like a dream! And let me not neglect to thank you for your wonderful and expeditious service...
Regards,
Michael (3/22/06)

Editor: this testimonial arrived as a hand-written letter: Dear Pat and John, I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know what a perfect match the pen (Pelikan M400, green, EF nib) is to my needs. The flow is perfect, it starts with zero pressure, and is quite smooth. A look under the loop has me believing John did a little smoothing and tweaking (I've never seen a Pelikan nib of any vintage look this good). It's amazing that you offer some of the best prices around, ship the same day, and do the most skillful nib tweaking available all as part of normal service. I am certain after a few transacitons with you that you are the best shop in all of pendom! Thanks again for the great pen and service. Regards, Dom (3/23/06)

Hi John and Pat,
The pens arrived yesterday afternoon in perfect condition and I was able to ink them tonight.
Well, I love them both -- they are juicy as I like them to be, just a bit smallish than most of my pens but still very comfortable to hold for a long time. I wrote several long pages of my journal with these two pens, and they had absolutely no issues whatsoever. They are both a joy and an inspiration to write with.
The Pelikan had the same characteristics as my M805 - imparts precision, reliability and consistency. 'Germanic', I might say. This all business feel was balanced by the exuberantly colorful resin body.
The Sailor Naginata, however, is special. It lays down generous amounts of ink on paper, has a springy feel and more nuanced strokes, and... wow... it is extraordinarily... exceptionally... preternaturally..... creamy smooth !!! If a nib could be made out of teflon, this may be it.
Thanks again so much for the opportunity to own these pens which will join my favorites....
Best Regards,
Jess Ramos (3/11/06)

Hello Los Angeles,
my bb-stub nib arrived today in Lueneburg and everything is perfect. What a nib and what a fantastic customizing.
Thank you very much for this work and I know that I will never be able to write with a factory nib again.
Best,
Stefan Strotzer (3/15/06)

The Paragon just arrived! I was having a hard time concentrating on work in anticipation of its arrival and now, I'm going to have a hard time concentrating because I'd rather write with my pen. I'll just keep it here by the computer and use it to motivate me to hurry and get my work done today. It writes wonderfully and I am so, so pleased finally to have my very own, customized-just-for-me,John Mottishaw nib. Thanks to all three of you for making this such a wonderful experience.... Thanks again. Hope to be in touch again before too long.
Elaine Mc (3/15/06)

Dear John & Pat-
I received the new pen (and the modified 800 nib) several days ago... sorry it took so long to get back to you. The good news is that this has given me plenty of time to try out both the "Piccadilly" pen AND the modified 800 nib; and they perform exactly as I requested. They are an absolute joy to write with, and (although I have to "slow down" a bit) result in beautiful strokes applied to paper... particularly for my rather utilitarian style of "life-long-engineer-printing" ;-) Once again, thanks for supplying a wonderful product, with very rapid turnaround!
(ps: it was a particular joy to find that "feel" of the nibs was so similar, and that they matched the modified Parker nib I showed you so well. Thanks!)
David Gerhardt (2/28/06)

Hi Pat / John
Received package today (actually arrived last Tuesday but I was away). Anyway used it all day today and I am VERY satisfied with its performance. Great job, John, as always !! I know this was not an easy nib to repair.
With kindest regards
John Wilson (3/3/06)

Hi Pat, John and Danielle,
Thank you for the great service and fantastic nibs John custom ground for my Pelikan pens. I use these pens every day for ink drawing as well as lettering and writing. I feel like a kid with a new bicycle! The fine, flexible nib gives me the fine detail for my drawings and the italic doublewide makes writing and lettering a joy!... Again, thank you for your help and service.
Sincerely,
Jim Davis (2/18/06)

Thanks Pat! The Conklin arrived without a problem, and the adjustments are great. Smooth, nice shading, good wet line with even flow -- terrific, and worth every penny! Andrew (2/22/06)

Pat,
I received the Pelikan nib unit on Saturday the 18th. I installed the unit with no problems. The adjustment that John did on the nib is just right!
I am very appreciative of the service and products that Classic Fountain Pens provides. I will certainly recommend you to others.
Craig Edwards (2/26/06)

Dear All,
I have been remiss in writing to say how much I love my Grey Omas with personalized nib. Being
a lefty and a bit of a pen geek has meant many an ink-stained hand. No more. The flow is light
but always consistent. This pen has become my all the time pen. Thank you for a dedication rare
in a world built on more instead of better. I bow.
the rev. daniel richards (2/11/06)

Dear Pat,
Item number S-642 arrived in good condition this afternoon. I’m really glad the last customer didn’t like it. You won’t be seeing this PFM again until it needs service. So far, I’ve just tried it as a dip pen. If you could have someone e-mail me the filling instructions, I’d appreciate it. Could you also let me know the production dates for the PFM III? That’s right; I’m squeezing every last penny’s worth of service out of you. You must be accustomed to dealing with other hard-case customers besides me.
On another subject, something about our communications was nagging at me for days. It wasn’t until I went back over your e-mails that I realized what it was. You can punctuate. God, I bet you can make a subject and verb agree. I can’t tell you what a treat it is for me to deal with someone who can actually read and write. It’s so truly uncommon in this “communication age.”
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you again for your kindness and help.
Yours,
Bruce Brady (2/14/06)

Hello Pat,
... I must tell you that, after careful consideration of the nib work that you and your fellows did. .....
WELL, I COULDN'T POSSIBLY IN A MILLION YEARS BE MORE PLEASED !!!
It's wonderful!! The nib, (and my hand in its control) are a bit like wild colt - all over the place !!, BIG letters, small letters. HEAVY Weight, light weight. BUT - it can do it all, and just goes to show that writing like our ancestors did was mostly in getting the right tool for the job. It immediately gave me the weighted 'Spencerian' script that I had hoped for, with the tiny but reliable hairline... Now I am seduced, and have started to look at my pen collection with a jaundiced eye. What could be done with THIS specimen?? In the words of the Governator: ... "I'll be Back!" And again, thanks for a job well done, It was well worth waiting for!
John Dersom (2/16/06)

Pat, I've been using the nib (Ed: Pelikan M1000, Broad with 15 degree left oblique customization for his somewhat unusual Left-Handed writing style; please see our Left-Handed Writers Page, Photo #7) every day since I received it. I've got three full tanks of ink through it, and I'm pleased to report that I'm very happy with it. The flow, smoothness, reliability, and the character it lends to my writing make it a pleasure to use. Thanks for the great service.
Regards,
Steve Barnett (2/6/06)

Hi Pat,
The pens arrived yesterday, Yea! Hours of total distraction and blissfull writing. I can see the Falcon will take some taming, but we will have fun developing our relationship. Thank you for the input on the Pelikan italic nibs. I will get back to you once I have focused on what I want to accomplish with my next adventure. You all are making this dangerously simple.
Smiles, Shea (2/7/06)

Pat, The pen arrived today and I've been using it non-stop for taking my bar exam preparation notes. The pen writes beautifully despite my disgraceful penmanship. I could not be more please with this purchase. Thanks very much for taking the time to learn about my writing style, for adjusting the nib in accordance with my needs, and for the overall excellent customer service. I will certainly re-visit your website when I need (or want, really) a second pen, and I will gladly recommend your store to anyone who asks for a recommendation.
Best regards,
Alex (2/7/06)

Dear Danielle/John,
Sorry about the delay in responding to your delivery e-mail. The three pens you repaired for me arrived safely and I'm more than pleased!
These pens were given to me by a friend who didn't want them, my good fortune. I've used fountain pens since I was attending jr. high school and enjoy the pleasing way they write. Since I'm not a collector my only concern was that the pens function and I must say you did a superb job. Much to my delight my wife has absconded with pen #2 the Sheaffer Admiral. I've been trying to get her to find the joy of writing with a fountain pen for years. Thanks to you good folks it has finally happened!... Thanks again for putting these pens back in a useable condition!
Best regards,
Bill Lewis (2/9/06)

Hi Pat,
The pen that you just sold me (Ed: OMAS Paragon) is the most glorious writing instrument that I have ever written with in my life. The ink does not flow from the nib; it gushes and thus the nib dances across the page with the best line of any pen that I have ever written with. I will always use Aurora black ink in this new Omas.Thank you so much...

Hi Pat...
The Duro has landed. Safe, well, and in immaculate writing condition. It writes better than the only "New" pen i ever use. A Montblanc Meisterstuck. Am amazing bit of work by your company.
thanks again, and i shall miss our mails

Afternoon Pat, Danielle, and John,
The nibs and pen arrived yesterday. They are perfect. The double-broad nib on the Pelikan M215 is truly awesome (especially so given how lousy the original nib was). It puts down a truly wonderful line. It is one of the smoothest pens I've ever used. Thank-you.
The VP medium left-oblique nib is equally wonderful. It does write with a wetter line than the regular medium. I've used it for most of today, and really like it. Again, thank-you.
For me, the best surprise is the broad left-oblique for my Pelikan M750. The original medium nib always wrote well enough, but it squeaked horribly. It never mattered what paper I used, nor what kind of ink - it always squeaked. I've tried the new nib out on every kind of paper I have — it writes like it's on glass; absolutely smooth, absolutely silent...
I'm going to go and enjoy these nibs. I'll figure out what I want to do with my Parker 75 before summer. Once I do, I'll be asking for your advice and assistance.
In the meantime, many thanks for all the work you've done for me. I'm really, really happy with everything. Anytime someone complains about a pen, I tell them I know someone who can make them very happy. Best wishes and take care,
Glenn Radde (2/1/06)

Hi Pat, I received my pen and spent today enjoying it!!
John's work was very good and on-target; the ink flow is just right and I believe he did narrow the nib a bit, which I also appreciate. The slower ink flow now allows me to use a much lighter touch and write at a slower, more comfortable speed, yet still achieve the finer line I was after. Please pass along my thanks to John! And thank you for the good communications and shipping!

Pat and John – I just received my Vanishing Point and filled it with the Scrip ink. I’ve been writing with it and it’s perfect; just what I wanted. The recommendation to get the broad stub nib also was right on. Anything smaller, like my initial inclination to go with the medium nib, would have been smaller than I wanted. So, again, thanks for the great advice, service, and unbelievably prompt work and shipping. I’ll be back to you for all my pen needs.

Hello, Just a note to let you know that I have been using the Balance that was ground to an XF and I am very pleased. I write very lightly and the pen is perfectly suited. Thanks for the quality work. Kelson (1/25/06)

Hi Pat:
I received the pen last night (Ed: OMAS Bronze Arco, Broad nib with our crisp cursive italic/rounded stub customization).... The pen's magnificent. It exceeds my highest hopes. Kudos to John. Given my original description of the kind or nib I wanted -- "between Propas and Yu"-- I'm amazed and pleased that he turned out something that fits my writing style so comfortably. The combination of the nib with the superb craftsmanship of the pen itself makes this one the pride of my collection....
All the best,
Gerry Berg (2/1/06)

Hi Pat,
I received the duofold and I am extremely happy. I had assumed that the XF nib would be sharp and, given my tendency to turn the nib a bit as I write, that I would end up not using this nib much and would instead swap out one of my other duofold nibs when I wanted to use this orange body. Wrong! The nib is very smooth and extremely tolerant of the angle at which it is held. John did a great job, and I thank you very much for your usual special treatment. This pen was a heck of a good deal.
Frankly, I would rather buy a used pen that you have looked over than a new pen!
Thanks, John Cullen (1/13/06)

Dear John,
I received my Pelikan Demonstrator (Anthracite) yesterday, and I just wanted you to know that it is wonderful. Thank you so much. My biggest pet peeve is new pens that don't work. I don't live anywhere near a pen shop, so trying them out ahead of time doesn't really work for me. Thank you so much for a pen that worked perfect right away. I truly appreciate it. It is also a beautiful pen. The gold nib is certainly worth the extra money, it is gorgeous.
Thanks again,
Mary Akre (1/13/06)

Pat, Danielle, and John:
My Pelikan M800 arrived about 45 minutes ago. I inked it up and have written several pages in my desk journal and a short note to my daughter.
If we were closer I'd kiss you! Well, maybe I'd just shake John's hand. It starts writing when it touches paper and I can't outrun it like I can my other pens....
Thanks so much for the wonderful pen and superb service.
Vernice Harrison (1/13/06)

Hi Pat, I hope your New Year is Happy!
I received the pen in good order, and am *very* pleased with it. Now that my hand has adapted, I find that I've got the pen I dreamed of for years. A perfect nib, and lots of ink! Thanks for all your help. Kind regards,
Steven Olson (1/5/06)

Dear Pat,
I received the pen with its new nib and I love it.... It now writes in the smooth italics I was originally looking for. Thank you for the help. Don't you just love the smooth flow of a Pelikan!
Best,
Lenny Dribinsky (1/8/06)

Dear Pat and John,
Both pens arrived safely yesterday, and, once again, they exceed expectations. Thank you very much for giving me a call to discuss the nib on the Gray 360. The width of the downstroke falls between my Omas medium stubs and Pelikan broad stubs, just as I had hoped it would. As such, it complements my other 360s very nicely, in physical appearance as well as the character of its line. I guess you must know what I need better than I do! Also, thank you for your excellent customer service in getting these done so quickly. It's always a pleasure doing business with you.
Best Regards,
Dave Shin (1/11/06)

Happy New Year, Pat!
Everything arrived safely and on time. I have been writing with the custom nib NONSTOP! I love theSailor pen, too, and will switch to that for variety as soon as I can tear myself away.

Thanks for the great service and the new way of contemplating pens. I love the modified nib concept! Someday maybe I'll try another. How could I resist with such great service and products this time around? ;)
Cheers,
Meg Wickwire (1/1/06)

Dear Ms. Ackor:
I got the nib for my Pelican pen. It works beautifully, and you all did a great job of tuning it (or whatever the term is). I bought some J. Herbin blue ink, and it works very well in this pen.
I look forward to doing business with you in the future.
Thank you
Robert Gruber (1/2/06)

Pat and Danielle,
I just wanted to let you know that I got the pen on Thursday, and it is excellent. This is the fine line I have been looking for. Finally something to use on all my moleskin journals without worrying! And I just love the flexibility of the nib. It's a pleasure to write with, and a pleasure to do business with you.
All the best for this year and the rest,
Dave Boyer(1/2/06)
