Sailor Hanzi Fountain Pen
Sailor's Hanzi fountain pen, introduced in the Fall of 2007 is in the series of pens that celebrates the written word. Preceded by the Pharaoh pen, with hieroglyphic inscriptions from the time of the Pharaohs and by the Buddhist Script and most recently the Hannyashinkyo (or Heart Sutra), this pen celebrates the origins of Chinese calligraphy.

The cap, seen on the left half of the picture on the right, depicts the Oracle Bone Script, originally carved on animal bones and used for recording and divination. Dating back almost 4800 years to the Yin Chinese dynasty , it is the oldest of ancient Chinese characters.

The barrel, seen on the right, incorporates the Bronze Script, one of the most famous scripts from the Zhou Chinese dynasty. It is the longest ancient inscription and cast onto a bronze tripod. It has 32 lines and 497 characters. It tells the story of achievements of the rulers and politicians at a time of national prosperity.
Hanzi in Chinese is translated to Kanji in Japanese.

This is one of the famous "Naginata Togi" nibs created by Nagahara. It is otherwise known as a sword nib because the tipping is very long and narrow. The resulting writing style is what we like to call an architects script because it is similar to the style used by Frank Lloyd Wright. (He would sharpen a pencil to a chisel tip and thereby get wide cross strokes and hair line downstrokes.)

There are only 388 of these pens produced worldwide.
