Sailor
Hannyashinkyo Fountain Pen |
|
|
| This unique 925 sterling and 24K gold plated pen is number
4 of only 200 pieces made, but to understand its place in Sailor's line of pens,
it helps to know a little about Buddhism in Asia. |
|
Hannyashinkyo is one of
the main doctrines of Buddhism. |
The
original text of Hannyashinkyo was written in Tibetan Sanskrit, then translated
into Chinese, and then made its way into Japanese: Hannyashinkyo, whose precepts
are condensed into the Heart Sutra. The pen cap and barrel are inscribed with
the 266 Sanskrit characters of the Heart Sutra.

|
| The
hand-crafted nib is designed by Nobuyoshi Nagahara, Sailor's renowned nib designer.
For this pen, he revived the Naginata Togi, or "long sword," technique
to create a considerably longer nib than appears in regular sized nibs. The nib
was specially designed to write Kanji, so it allows a broad range of writing angles
with light pressure.
Nobuyoshi Nagahara has created one of the most unique
nibs of his career. With this pen you will be writing with a unique Sailor nib
created and handmade personally by Mr. Nagahara. |
|
| The
Hannyashinkyo weighs just under 51 grams, and measures 5.5 inches capped.
This
is limited edition number 4 of 200 pieces made for worldwide sale. The pen comes
in a blue velour lined wooden box-- a truly special presentation. |
