A cult favorite among Sailor fans for many years, the Ebony Wood Desk Pen is now being made available for the first time in North America. This unusual fountain pen utilizes handcrafted, fully seasoned natural ebony wood. Ebony has long been prized as an ornamental wood for its dark hues, high density (it is one of the few woods that sinks in water), and appealing woodsy fragrance. Each Ebony Wood Desk Pen has its own unique wood grain finish - no two pens are exactly alike.

At 8 3/4 inches long capped and a barrel diameter of 5/8 inches, the Desk Pen is a large but surprisingly comfortable pen in the hand - the warm wood barrel and smooth-writing Sailor nibs make for a wonderful writing experience. Because of its exceptional balance and writing comfort, Sailor has chosen this pen model specifically to demonstrate their specialty nibs. This long desk pen allows the writer to hold it far back from the point, if so desired, for a very low angle, nib to paper, increasing the variation in line width.

A very solid "click" can be heard when putting the cap on. This makes an almost airtight seal between the cap and barrel, which prevents early dry-out of the nib. This pen weighs a very substantial 70.6 grams, of which 33.7 is the cap.
