The Seahorse
The Creatures of the Deep – "Tatsu-no-Otoshigo" Seahorse is a colorful respresentation of coral with shimmering gold flecks wrapping around the barrel creating a seahorse enveloped within the gold.
There are ten Creatures in this series of which we have all. They are
the Seahorse seen here, the Octopus,
the hammerhead Shark , the Whale,
the Moray Eel, the Sunfish, the Clownfish, the Sea Turtle, the Penguin and the Manta Ray.
This pen is an aquarium in the hand, with little
events occurring in surprising places.
Though light in subject matter, the Seahorse reveals the strength of
this Maki-e artist's playful hand.
This pen comes with a Sailor Medium nib, and we have found
it to be a wonderful writer.
The 21K nib in the Creatures of the Deep Limited Edition
is the same size nib as in the 1911 pens, so we can offer it in the complete Sailor
range.
The Seahorse arrives in a wood presentation box which includes
ink and a Warranty Certificate, signed by the artist.
There are only 88
pieces in this edition. Currently we have two complete sets #16/88 and #4/88. As
with all limited edition Maki-e fountain pens, the Seahorse has been signed and
numbered on the barrel of the fountain pen by the famous artist and craftsman, Mr. Koushu Nishihara.
