The Creatures of the Deep – "Umi-Kame" Sea Turtle swims around the barrel with babies following close. There are weaving layers that dart between bubbles of pearl and embedded laquer and eel grass painted of gold. There are ten Creatures in this series of which we have all. They are the Sea Turtle seen here, the Octopus, the hammerhead Shark , the Whale, the Moray Eel, the Sunfish, the Clownfish, the Penguin, the Seahorse and the Manta Ray.

This pen is an aquarium in the hand, with little events occurring in surprising places.

Though light in subject matter, the Sea Turtle reveals the strength of this Maki-e artist's playful hand.

This pen comes with a Sailor Medium nib, and we have found it to be a wonderful writer.

The 21K nib in the Creatures of the Deep Limited Edition is the same size nib as in the 1911 pens, so we can offer it in the complete Sailor range.

The Sea Turtle arrives in a wood presentation box which includes ink and a Warranty Certificate, signed by the artist.

Speckles of golden flecks wrap around the barrel with a sense of craft and purpose.

There are only 88 pieces in this edition. Currently we have two complete sets #16/88 and #4/88. As with all limited edition Maki-e fountain pens, the Sea Turtle has been signed and numbered on the barrel of the fountain pen by the famous artist and craftsman, Mr. Koushu Nishihara.
