| The Creatures of the Deep - "Tako" Octopus Limited to 88 pieces of each creature
worldwide and with only a small percentage reaching the US, this numbered series
will likely be very collectible. |

Two octopus grace this pen. One
is on the cap and the body of the other is on the barrel. The octopus on the cap
is smaller, giving the pen perspective and a sense of a vast deep ocean. The
white suction-cups punctuate the length of each of the octopus's arms. The octopus
on the barrel extends two powerful arms up into the cap in fluid movement. The
arms line up and carry through onto the cap when it is fully closed.
You will notice the various pigmented discs, and swaying kelp fronds on the cap,
enhance the sense of a submarine environment. |

| Gold dust shimmers at the
tips of the octopus arms, mimicking light reflected in water. The
black resin of the pen offers a background that accentuates the rich red and gold
colors. | These pens illustrate the ability of the artist
to exploit the shape of the pen in the design. The octopus figures wrap around
the barrel and cap. Static pictures seen here do not fully reveal the sense of
movement. They must be experienced in the round to be fully appreciated. |
As with all limited edition Maki-e fountain pens, the Octopus has been signed
and numbered by artist. In this case Koushu Nishihara's signature appears on the
barrel.
This Limited Edition fountain pen comes with a 21k Fine nib. The
Octopus arrives in a wood presentation box which includes ink and the artist signed
certificate.
