Sailor 95th Anniversary "Realo" Limited Edition
Using the concepts of "REliance" And "LOcus", Sailor has produced an edition of 100 "Realo" pens in commemoration of their 95th anniversary. We have long wished that Sailor would produce a piston-filled fountain pen, putting it in the league with the Pelikan and OMAS. Finally it is here. And it holds a whopping 25ml of ink, filled straight from the bottle.
Sailor has replicated the cigar-shape style of the full-size 1911 Colors for their anniversary pen. However, the "Realo" is a heavier, and larger pen, at 35g in weight and 6.5" in length, capped.
Crafted in black acrylic resin, and with 24k gold plating on the clip and cap band, this pen has the makings of a classic. "Sailor 95th Anniversary" is engraved into the prominent gold plated cap band.
Though difficult to see in the photograph above, this fountain pen has a visualated section, approximately 7mm long, near the front of the barrel. This makes it easier to see the amount of ink remaining in the reservoir.
Sailor has chosen to use a 21k Medium Naginata Togi nib for this limited edition fountain pen. The Naginata is often considered a masterpiece of a nib and gives this limited edition "Realo" wonderful writing characteristics.

"Realo 2006", and the edition number, is engraved on the cap, near the clip.

The "Realo" comes complete with a traditional "Koushu Inden" pen pouch. The pouch is made of deer skin leather, with an Urushi lacquer applied to the surface. This technique dates back to the Edo period when lacquer treatments were used to decorate Samurai helmets and armor. The effect is sophisticated and clean.

Because this is the first self-filling fountain pen that Sailor has produced in modern times, we recognize it as a positive turning point for the pen line. It may turn out to be very collectible as well.

The limited edition "Realo" comes complete with papers, Inden pouch, bottle of Sailor black ink and presentation box.
