The above chart illustrates the tipping sizes available in Platinum nibs. Most Platinum pens, including Maki-e pens other than the President Maki-e, are made available with the 3776 series of nibs in any of the sizes seen above. Note that the nib size labeled "C" is more often referred to as Extra Broad. The Music nib is $56 extra on all 3776 series pens except the amazingly priced Music Pen, on which it is provided at no additional cost.

The 3776 series nibs have both 14k and 18k versions, but we cannot control which carat counts are available at any given time - if you have a specific request, such as a 14k nib for John's customization for added flex, we will do our best to accommodate your needs based on what we have available.

In contrast to the 3776 series, the President series pens and President Maki-e pens come with 18k two-tone nibs in Ultra Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, and Extra Broad only - there is no Extra-Fine, or Music nib available in the President series, though the Broad and Extra Broad nibs make excellent starting points for our customizations for Cursive Italic, Oblique, and Stub.
