We cut
a stub nib right away for this pen. The medium point
makes a medium to fine stub that seems completely appropriate.
See the writing sample below.

"As
for the V.P....this one is simply magical.
Full disclosure requires me to confess that, despite
everything I have read, I was just a wee bit skeptical
about how well a retractable fountain pen could really
work. Well, it lives up to its advertising and then
some. This pen is an exceptional piece of engineering
and design. It does exactly what it is supposed to
do, so smoothly and effortlessly that it's actually
hard to believe, even when holding it in your hand.
But as impressed as I am by the basic pen (a lot!),
I am stunned by the nib. As you know, this pen represents
my first baby step into the world of custom nibs,
and all I can say -- to myself, I mean -- is, "what
the #@%@# were you waiting for??" The Medium
stub nib -- in my hand at least -- feels just as smooth
as a standard factory nib, and the line variation
it produces is gorgeous. It makes my fairly lousy
handwriting suddenly look about 200% better. I'm hooked!...
David" (7/27/04)
This stub tip is smoother than
an italic, while still showing some variation between
the horizontal and vertical strokes. The italic
is crisper, with thinner cross lines. It sacrifices
some smoothness, though, for more line width variation.

Any of these pens is available with a fine, medium or broad
nib. These nibs can be customized to stub, italic or oblique
styles for $55 extra. The retail price for a Pilot Vanishing
Point pen is $140. Our price: $111.00
We feel these pens are perfect candidates for a Left Oblique
modification but work equally well as Stubs or cursive italics.
Each of these modifications would add $55.00 to the price
and result in a total of $166.00
Extra nib units with converters are available for only $30.00.
($85.00 customized)
